Chapter 24

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

That was the sound droning in their hotel room.

Outside, they looked peaceful.

But inside, in their brains? Oh, just another Dream Chaser adventure.

( Their dream)

" Guys! What took you so long?!" Zoey asked, stretching her legs from sitting on the soft grass for the early half of the night.

" Sorry, we just had a little.... ahm..." Nelson looked ashamed of himself.

" Food poisoning to address."  Mia picked up where Nelson had left off.

" Oh. Well, we got reports about a guy with a Ninjago dream, but are missing two VERY important people!" Mateo glanced at the two newcomers, who blushed.

"A Ninjago dream, huh?" Mia chimed in, her curiosity piqued. Despite the exhaustion of dealing with Nelson's foodborne misfortune, the prospect of a dream-based adventure held a strange allure. She nudged Nelson playfully. "Think you're up for another mission, Dream Chaser extraordinaire?"

Nelson rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Well, I wouldn't want to let the team down," he mumbled, a hint of a grin tugging at his lips. "Besides, how bad could a dream about Ninjago really be?"

Zoey, ever the energetic leader, clapped her hands together. "Excellent! The more the merrier, I always say. So, spill the beans, Mateo. What kind of Ninjago dream are we talking about?"

Mateo, a lanky boy with a mop of unruly brown hair, pulled out a small tablet. "According to our Dream Chasers tech, a young boy named Alex is having a particularly vivid dream set in the world of Ninjago. He's dreaming of being a ninja himself, but something's gone wrong. His dream is becoming corrupted by nightmares, and it's affecting his sleep – and his real life."

A shiver ran down Mia's spine. The idea of someone's dreams turning into nightmares was unsettling. "So, what do we need to do?" she asked, her voice serious.

"We enter Alex's dream," Mateo explained, his finger hovering over a holographic image on his tablet. "We find the source of the nightmares and neutralize it. Sound simple, right?"

Nelson gulped, a nervous smile plastered on his face. "Uh, about that 'simple' part..."

Mia, sensing his apprehension, squeezed his hand reassuringly. "We've got this, Nelson. Together."

Zoey beamed. "Exactly! Now, let's get some shut-eye. We've got a dream to conquer!"

Suddenly, a blinding flash erupted, momentarily banishing the dreamscape and jolting everyone awake.

In the center of the room, where a moment ago there was only empty space, stood three new figures. Izzy, with her fiery red hair and trademark smirk, adjusted her goggles with a nonchalant shrug. Cooper, the tech whiz, fiddled with a device strapped to his arm, muttering about "glitches in the transition matrix." And Logan, the musician ( or rapper) of the team, simply crossed his arms, a silent question mark hanging in the air.

"Izzy! Cooper! Logan!" Mateo exclaimed, relief flooding his voice. "What took you guys so long?" A playful jab, but the worry in his eyes was clear.

Izzy rolled her eyes. "Typical Mateo, always blaming someone else for your shoddy tech. We had a bit of a... detour on our way here. Let's just say a particularly grumpy dream entity wasn't too keen on us crashing its slumber party."

Cooper chimed in, his voice laced with amusement. "Yeah, it took a bit of creative dream manipulation to get past that one. But hey, we made it, right?" He winked at Mia, who couldn't help but smile at his easygoing demeanor.

Nelson, ever the skeptic, couldn't hold back a scoff. "Dream entity? More like a bad case of indigestion."

Izzy shot him a playful glare. "Oh, believe me, Nelson, it was much worse than indigestion. Trust me." She then turned to Mateo, a serious glint in her eyes. "So, fill us in on this Ninjago dream situation. Sounds like we're just in time for some ninja action."

Mateo, relieved that his sister and the others were ready despite their near-sugar-coma entrance, nodded briskly. "Alright team, listen up! We're heading into the dreamscape of a young boy named Alex. His Ninjago dream has turned into a nightmare, and it's affecting his sleep – and possibly his waking life. Our mission is to find the source of the nightmares and neutralize it."

He gestured towards the shimmering portal, the colors swirling even more intensely now. "Once we're in, we need to work together. Alex might not even realize he's dreaming, so we have to tread carefully. Stay close, communicate clearly, and most importantly, don't be afraid to use your dream-wielding skills. We've got fighters, tech wizards, and even a dream-weaver on this team. Let's use all our strengths to help Alex conquer his nightmares and wake up feeling refreshed."

Taking a deep breath, Mateo stepped through the portal, the swirling colors momentarily engulfing him. One by one, the other Dream Chasers followed, their determination etched on their faces. They were about to enter a world of ninjas, dreams, and nightmares, and they were ready for whatever challenges awaited them.
