Chapter One: A Look

Hello just a note from the author please don't forget to leave your comments and I will try to answer back. It just leaves me to say thanks for reading. Author out for now.

Alaya’s POV:

Ever felt like you’re trapped in a hole? That you didn’t make it and you can’t get out?

Well, I feel like Alice. I have definitely fallen down the rabbit hole and I’ve been falling for a long time.

But, at least I haven’t been falling alone.

Alaya Swan is the name and my company is my brothers.

Aiden Swan, my big brother, Derek Swan, my big brother, and then my little brothers, Seth and Richie Swan.

We are orphans who were adopted with Leyla Fining by William Reyes and his family. His wife, Elizabeth Reyes, four-year-old daughter, Talia Reyes, and his eighteen-year-old, Isaac Reyes.

That was four years ago.

So, being adopted is a good thing, they say, but for us, we are just slaves. Servants to our drunken master, his wife, and children.

It was six in the morning when William woke us all up.

“Alaya! Aiden! Derek! Seth! Richie! Leyla!!”

Within seconds, we all had to be standing in the living room, but Aiden was one of those guys who hated mornings, so he continued to sleep on the couch.

Aiden always slept on the couch; he refused to swap and sleep on the bed. We often take it in turns, but he always sleeps on the couch.

“Aiden!!”

He yelled once again, before dragging Aiden off the couch and kicking him in the stomach.

“Oh, hey, Will. What’s up?”

I tried not to laugh. He always does this. Sometimes, I swear he does it on purpose, which only gets him another kick or punch.

Once Aiden stopped the sarcasm, we were dished out our jobs.

Mine was cooking and cleaning; anything to do with the kitchen. Aiden had to clean the garage and do the cars. Leyla had to do the garden, Richie have to do the pool, Seth had to do the bedrooms, and Derek had to do the vacuuming.

As soon as William was finished, I asked.

“What would you like for breakfast, sir?”

He told us all to address him as ‘sir’ or ‘master.’ Mrs. Reyes was to be addressed as ‘madam’ or ‘mistress.’ Talia was ‘miss’ and Isaac was ‘master.’

He told me what he wanted, so I went to ask everyone else.

Once I cooked the food, I dished it out. Thankfully, they all ate it and seemed happy with it.

While I was washing up, Aiden snuck in.

“Hey, Alaya, how’s it going?”

I was pleased to see him, but I gave him a serious face. I didn’t want him getting into trouble.

“Aiden, you need to get back to work. You’re gonna get in trouble.”

To my effects, he remained in the kitchen, until William walked in.

“Alaya, Elizabeth and I−”

He stopped in mid-sentence as he saw Aiden.

“What are you doing in here?”

He yelled at the top of his lungs, shaking the whole house and making me jump.

“He was getting some clean water, sir.”

I lied, to keep him out of trouble. He just nodded his head and continued his big speech.

“As I was saying−WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE? GET OUT!”

He snapped and Aiden slumbered out of the room, pulling the bucket along with him.

“As I was saying, Elizabeth and I are going out, so make sure my son and Talia eat.”

Then, he marched out of the room to the garage.

Aiden’s POV:
I returned to the cars after getting yelled at and having Alaya save my neck again. She always did; she even kept a bucket in the corner and the kettle boiled, just in case.

As I lifted the car up with the jack stand and lay under, William came marching in.

Before I got back up from underneath the car, he kicked the jack stand, forcing me to grab hold of the car.

“If you don’t start behaving yourself, it won’t be you I’d be worried about.”

He barked, before leaving.

I quickly pushed the car up with all my strength and rolled away just in time. I let out a small groan. This guy loves to make my life difficult. I check the stand; it was definitely busted.

Great, I thought.

Now I’ll have to lift his stupid set of cars by hand and fix them. I was strong, but not like crazy strong.

Plus, after the kicking from this morning, there was no way in hell that I was going to get the cars done. Well, not underneath anyway.

Alaya’s POV:
I heard the door that leads to the garage shut and the front door slam with a huge bang. All I could think of was our poor neighbors. Just then, a hand rested on my lower back; it was Isaac.

“Alaya, I’m going out for a drink. Don’t tell my dad.”

I kept looking forward and nodded my head, before he moved his hand, slowly shutting the front door.

Thank God! But, of course, we weren’t free; not with Talia.

I heard the vacuum stop, so I quickly dipped my head out of the kitchen. Derek was on the couch with Talia on his lap, watching Sponge Bob.

He looked over and gave me a ‘please save me’ look as I quickly slipped back into the kitchen, before hearing a loud bang from outside.

I ran out and Richie was lying in the pool.

“He can’t swim!”

I cried before jumping in to pull him out.

He had passed out, so I breathed into him a couple times. Thank God I was paying attention in my first aid class. After a few attempts, he coughed out a load of water.

“It’s alright, breath normally.”

I said while patting his back. He was frightened. I took him inside and told him to take a shower.

Once he was finished, I sent him to bed, before taking one myself after I gave Talia lunch.

Dinner had come and gone, so Derek put Talia to bed because she refused everyone else. Seth went to check on Richie before falling asleep, so Derek and I helped him to bed.

Leyla had already gone to bed and none of us had anything to eat.

We weren’t allowed unless we were told otherwise. After a while, Derek went to bed.

I dragged a tired Aiden to the couch. He was knackered. Often Aiden works himself silly until he can’t work; he passes out from exhaustion. But, even then, he continues.

Nights like tonight, I literally have to drag him away from work.

As I began to clean up his face, a very drunk Mr. and Mrs. Reyes came staggering in. I helped them to their bedroom before running to the door as the doorbell rang.

There stood a wobbly Isaac. I put his arm around me and helped him to bed.

“Alaya, where are you taking me?”

He asked. Although he didn’t sound drunk, he most definitely was and I was just glad Mr. Reyes was asleep.

“I’m putting you to bed, Master Isaac.”

He looked into my eyes and leaned forward, causing me to take a step back.

“Say it again.”

He said, narrowing his glance at me. I wasn’t sure whether to ignore what he said or to answer, but I answered all the same.

“I’m putting you to bed, Master Isaac.”

He shook his head as we got to the door of his bedroom. I was completely lost. I said the sentence again. What did I do wrong?

“No, the ‘master’ bit.”

He said and my eyes widened as he presses my back up against the door.

“Master Isaac.”

I repeated and before I knew it, his lips smashed onto mine.
