Chapter 32 : Karashi Hatake

Karasu walked into the arena, followed by her brother.

"So crowded..." She muttered, obviously fascinated by how full the place is.

"Don't worry. The participants are only about one fourth of all people here. The rest are their families and friends." Kakashi calmly said, as he sat at the far back of the arena, the closest seat to the exit.

Ara laughed. "Yeah.."

She was wearing a white and red short battle kimono, with metal armor on her chest. The sleeves were rolled up, and she used a red headband to keep her hair on its place. Instead of the Konoha symbol, it has the kanji of 'crow' sewed in white on it. Her weapon pouch is made of metal, and she was wearing metal armors, on her elbows and her wrists. She's also carrying a sword on her back. And she didn't wear her eye patch, which reveals her fox left eye.

Kakashi, on the other hand, is wearing his usual ANBU uniform, still having his mask, with his headband covering his left eye.

Ara sat next to her brother, before pulling out a book and began to read. The Tale of The Utterly Gutsy Shinobi. Kakashi did the same. Icha-Icha Paradise. Same author, different genres.

"Nervous?" Ara asked.

Kakashi chuckled. "Why would I?"

"You're just 16. Most of the participants are in their twenties."

"Talk about yourself." Kakashi said with a scoff, "You're just 7. The youngest participant in history."

Ara sighed. "When you were my age, you're already a chūnin, while here I am, not even genin."

"To be exact, you don't even attend Academy. And how many times do I tell you not to talk about my past in public?"

"134 times. I don't talk about your past, I'm talking about your achievements in your childhood."

Kakashi let out a heavy sigh.

About half an hour later, someone interrupted the Hatakes' peaceful time.

"Hey, Karashi Hatake! You're early!"

Ara turned, to find Asuma behind her.

"Karashi..." Ara trailed off.

"...Hatake?" Kakashi asked.

Asuma nodded, laughing. "Karasu and Kakashi Hatake, of course!"

Ara raised an eyebrow. "You made that nickname?"

Asuma shrugged, taking a seat in front of Ara. "Nope. I don't know who made that. It's how people call you two. Karashi Hatake, the only ones who are brave enough to threaten the Hokage."

Kakashi chuckled. "Ridiculous."

Kurenai came, and sat next to Asuma, in front of Kakashi.

"I and Asuma participate here! What about you, guys?" She asked.

"Same. And Ara wants to know her rank."

"Cool." Asuma commented, "Where's Guy, by the way?"

"Ah! I can feel this place full with youth in the air!"

Ara turned at Asuma. "You had just jinxed it, idiot."

"My youthful rival! I will compete in this youthful event! How about you?"

"I participate, just like Ara."

"In the name of youth I hope we will fight each other youthfully! And we-"

"Shut up and leave." Ara snapped in a sync with Kakashi, which resulted in Guy running away from them, screaming about how unyouthful Hatakes are.

It has been hours since the exam started. Asuma and Kurenai are still chūnin. Guy become jounin.

"... I'm so bored."

"The feelings' mutual." Kakashi calmly replied, "My instinct said this is going to be over soon."

"And now, our last match!" Shikaku announced, his face showed interest and excitement.

Ara narrowed her eyes. "Aniki, we both haven't got our turn."

"I have my suspicion. Seems like we're going to..."

"Karasu Hatake vs Kakashi Hatake!"

"...fight each other. Great..." Ara said sarcastically, as she stood up, and put her book in her pocket, Kakashi doing the same.

"This is crazy."

"No. This is insanity." Ara corrected.

"Wanna beat up that Namikaze later?" Kakashi offered, taking a glance at Minato, who gulped under the Hatakes' glares.

"Sounds good for me." Ara answered, as she jumped onto the arena, landing swiftly on her feet.

"Let's get this over already."

"Couldn't agree more, imouto." Kakashi grumbled, following his sister.

*/*\*/*\*

"Who do you think will win, eh, Weasel?" Hana asked the Uchiha heir, who is sitting next to her.

Itachi shrugged. "I don't know."

"Sh*t, the world's ending. The great Itachi Uchiha doesn't know something."

"Shut up, Inuzuka."

Minato mentally grinned. Why did he chose the Hatake siblings to fight each other? He is merely curious.

Murmurs were heard all through the building. Many people wonders why the 2 participants have a same last name. And both of them turns out to be brother and sister.

*/*\*/*\*

"Don't hold back, imouto." Kakashi said, unsheathing his katana.

"You'd better do the same, Aniki." Ara replied, pulling out her large sword. Much to everyone's shock, the black sword morphed into a long-hilted axe.

The two Hatakes ran towards each other. Kakashi swung his katana with an incredible speed, barely missing the white strands that covered Ara's left ear. Ara's eyes widened. In reflects, she raised her axe, and almost hit Kakashi's chest, had he was one second late to block the giant blade with his katana.

They jumped away from each other, and Kakashi reached out for his weapon pouch, pulling out a smoke bomb, and throw it at his opponent. Smokes covered the whole arena, causing the spectators to narrow their eyes in curiosity, as a few members from the Uchihas and the Hyūgas activated their doujutsu. The sound of the two blades clashing on each other managed to fill the air change with suspense.

When the smoke cleared, Ara was pinning her brother onto the ground, holding a kunai at the top of his chest. But the fight was far from over. Kakashi had his katana right beside Ara's bare neck.

Then Ara disappeared.

Kakashi narrowed his eyes. He kicked himself off the ground, and pulled up his headband, revealing his sharingan. The scarlet orb was spinning furiously, scanning the whole area. Seeing that his attempt had no avail, the Hatake closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, sheathing his katana.

And suddenly, he pulled out a kunai, raising it just above his head. The sound of clashing metal was heard again.

Kakashi froze in his place, still waiting for any attack. His head snapped to his right, where Ara appeared all of a sudden. He instantly pulled out a kunai, and throws it at her.

She didn't dodge it, she didn't block it. When the blade hit her, she dispersed into kunais, which all immediately fly towards her big brother.

Kakashi's eyes slightly widened, has his hands instinctively created the handsigns he needs. Tiger - Hare - Boar - Dog. "Doton: Doryūheki."

A large wall rose from the ground, protecting him from the barrage of kunais. And then all the blades disappeared.

The battlefield was once again silent.

Ara suddenly appeared behind her brother, sending a kick to his head. He took a step back, and punched her, sending her flying over the arena, and hit the wall with a loud thud.

She stayed frozen, her head was hung down limp, still in her sitting position leaning on the wall.

Kakashi slowly approached her, kunai in his hand. When his foot was just about two steps away from her body, Ara rolled and kicked Kakashi's chin from below, sending him flying to the air, while she was standing on her hands.

Kakashi landed smoothly on his feet, a little bit wobbly. In his eyes, there's a spark of curiosity, and everyone can tell he's grinning in excitement.

Ara flipped, landing on her feet, and immediately dashed towards her brother. And the duel turned into a full taijutsu battle.

*/*\*/*\*

It has been about an hour since the fight started. None of the spectators looked bored or uninterested. Many of them are gripping the metal railings tightly, the others were sweating, everyone felt so tense due to the suspense.

The clans members activated their kekkei genkais, wanting to see the battle clearer. Karashi moved so fast, both of them has a very good reflects, and amazing endurance.

A boy who has copied hundreds of jutsus against a girl who can't use any jutsu. It's a very interesting fight. The two of them didn't aim to kill, but only to finish the battle as soon as possible.

Kakashi and Karasu both had many scratches on their body. Their chakra level are still pretty high, maybe because both of them are mostly having taijutsu and kenjutsu battle.

Unlike any other matches, there's no word spoken to each other. No battle cry. No yell of pain. No insult, no threat. No bragging, no taunting. Even Kakashi only mutters the name of the jutsus he uses, instead of yelling them aloud.

They both seemed confident, but didn't underestimate their opponent.

'A real shinobi battle', as how Minato said, 'No useless words were spoken, no pointless actions were taken. They use their energy so efficient.'

No one can predict who's the winner.

*/*\*/*\*

Kakashi growled, as he realized that he couldn't move his right arm. With his sharingan, he managed to see a thin blue chakra thread tied around his wrist, with the other edge in Ara's grip.

He turned at her, activating his mangekyo sharingan, capturing her in a genjutsu. Her grip instantly loosened, as she fell to her knees, while Kakashi immediately pulled his hand off the fading string.

Kakashi walked towards her, determined to take his katana back. She had managed to stole his weapon, and he needs it.

He pulled his katana from her belt, and walked away to collect his kunai, just in case if she wakes up.

Something small and sharp hit his hand, causing him to drop his katana.

Gritting his teeth in pain, he turned, to see two senbons stabbed on his hand. Ara was standing in front of him, two other senbons between her fingers, both which had purple substance dripping from it, smiling innocently, and looks completely unaffected by the genjutsu.

He narrowed his eyes, before making some handsigns, smirking behind his mask. "Raiton: Raijū Tsuiga."

A large hound made of lightning was created, and it ran towards Ara. She blocked its fangs with a large spear made of her arms' metal armors. Then she realized her mistake.

Metals conduct electricity.

She immediately released her grip on the spear. But it stay on its place. She bit her lip, using one hand to keep the metal spear in its position between the hound's fangs.

With her other hand, she used her metal bending to take off her front metal armor, and turned them into arrows, then strike all of the newly made weapon to the hound. Kakashi realized her plan, but he didn't undo the jutsu on time. The arrows hit the hound, receiving a great amount of electricity.

As the spear transformed into shurikens, they flew towards the older Hatake, along with the arrows. They all hit him simultaneously, most of them stuck on his ANBU armor, but the other managed to impale his limbs, electrocuting him.

Kakashi fell backwards, his back landed on the ground. He groaned in pain, as he pushed himself up. He realized that all the weapons are retracting back to their owner, so he grabbed one of the kunai. He let himself got dragged, while preparing his katana.

Ara's eyes widened, but she couldn't dodge. The momentum helped Kakashi to launch himself at her with an incredible speed, and he managed to slash through her torso.

She winced in pain, and turn all her weapons back into an armor on her chest, before she grabbed her axe, and once again swung it at him.

Kakashi got his shoulder hit by the large blade, but he instantly made a Chidori and lunged at her. She stepped aside, catching his arm with some chakra strings, using his weight and speed to help her pull him down to the ground. With the help of gravity, the Chidori hit the ground, creating a crack, while the electricity dissipates.

She let him go, hitting him with another two senbons in the process. He reacted by throwing a kunai at her shoulder, impaling the target precisely.

Ara jumped away, clutching her wound in pain. Then she realized that her axe is nowhere in sight.

Her gaze landed on Kakashi's grip, and she growled, finding Kirā there. She grunted, as she turned her black armor into a similar axe, a copy of Kirā, and ran at Kakashi, determined to take her faithful companion, her first weapon, back.

*/*\*/*\*

Two hours and a half. That's how long the battle has been. Both Hatakes were now severely injured, but none of them shows fear or panic.

They both were panting heavily, their steps are shaking due to the blood loss and the lack of chakra.

They are reaching their physical limit.

And soon, everyone shall see the end.

*/*\*/*\*

Ara turned her axe into a black katana. She gripped the hilt tightly, running towards her brother at full speed, avoiding the scattered kunais that were stuck on the ground.

Kakashi's vision began to blur, and he knows that her poison had affected him. Sure he wouldn't be able to dodge the attack. Instead, he hit the black blade with his katana. And the two weapons was thrown away.

Knowing the situation, they both have same reaction. They immediately run at the nearest katana. Karasu grabbed the silver one, while Kakashi grabbed the black one.

Same time, same speed, they both lunged at each other. Her silver blade went through his stomach, while his black katana stabbed her chest.

Ara and Kakashi coughed up blood, as they pulled out their swords, smiling softly at each other.

"I... forfeit..." The two of them muttered, before they fell to the ground, side by side.

*/*\*/*\*

All the spectators stood up, and starts clapping loudly.

"That's what I call a fight." Hana muttered, releasing the breath she didn't realize she was holding.

"Kami, that was so intense." Itachi said with a heavy sigh, slamming his body onto the seat.

"Karasu and Kakashi Hatake both forfeited, and this ends the Jōnin Exam this year!" Minato announced through the speaker, watching as medics entered the arena and took the two participants away.

"Tell the medics to put them two in the same room." Minato whispered to the brown-haired ANBU beside him, "And you must stay there. Karasu Hatake is not so fond with the hospital and their workers. They tend to hurt each other and if Kakashi saw it he will got his protective side flared up. I don't want any destruction on the building."

"Ah, I'm sure they'll do that, Lord Hokage. The nurses hate Karasu, and they fangirl over Kakashi. It will be war." The ANBU pointed out.

Minato let out a soft chuckle. "What do you suggest me to do, then, Dove? From what I saw, you seemed to be pretty close with them."

"I'll be their medic and bodyguard."

"... I see. Alright, do it. But I don't want to see your clumsiness acting up."

"Hai, hai... Don't worry, Hokage-sama~" she sang, "but I won't stop them from killing you."

The Namikaze sighed. "You're dismissed."

"See you at hospital! Hope they'll have enough bandages for you!"

*/*\*/*\*

It took so much effort to keep myself from screaming when I'm writing this. I tried my best. Doing may research on Kakashi's jutsu. Glad that Ara can't use any. It will make everything more difficult to write. I can actually imagine the scene playing in my head. Can you?

Is it enough? Too intense? Need more suspense? Too long? Too short? Boring? Interesting? Good? Bad? Amazing? Horrible? Please, I'm begging you, tell me.

What do you think? COMMENT!!!!! I need feedback, lots of them, on this. Seriously.

Who can guess how old am I now? XD
