Chapter 3

Elaine's POV

I woke up the next morning and sat up in bed. Yawning, I threw the covers off and walked to the door.

When I walked downstairs and into the kitchen I was greeted by Jordan. He stood on his tippy toes and held up a cup of coffee.

"Medium roast with a bit of hazel nut creamer!" He beamed

I smiled and took the cup, "Uh thank you Jordan....." I took a sip. It was a bit of watery but it wasn't that bad.

He walked over to the stove and flipped a pancake. "Do you like chocolate chips?"

I raised my eyebrows. "I don't think I have any."

"I went to the store. A lot of the food in your fridge was bad." He said casually.

"Yeah..." I sat at the counter, "I don't cook much. How did you get the money to buy this stuff?" I asked.

"I used the money I had...."

I raised my eyebrows, "Jordan I could have given you some money."

"I didn't want to be rude." He turned off the stove and put the pancake on a stack of three other pancakes. Then he set the plate in front of me and sat down.

I looked at him and smiled, standing and getting another plate. I set it in front of him and put two of my pancakes on it. He looked at me.

"I can't eat four pancakes on my own."

He smiled warmly and we both started eating.

A little later, after we finished eating, I decided to take Jordan into town. Of corse he had already been there, he somehow managed to find the store all by himself. I got dressed and did my hair.

"Jordan?" I called, walking downstairs. I walked into the kitchen. He wasn't there. "Hmm...." I walked to his room and knocked on the door. "Jordan?" Nothing. I opened the door and the room was empty. "Oh..... Maybe he left..." I said to myself. "Well that's one less person I have to look after anyways....." I said. But I felt a twinge of sadness. I shook my head and closed the door. 'He just forced himself in. Why am I sad?' I thought. But I knew why. I had finally stopped feeling lonely for a moment in time. I walked toward my room and sighed.

But I heard something. A noise in a room that had been closed for years. I slowly opened the door.

Jordan sat on the floor in the dark room. He was looking at a photo album.

"You were a cute baby...." He said, obviously hearing the door open. "Is this your parents room?"

"Uh... Yeah. How did you know?" I walked over and sat next to him.

He looked over at me, "All the jewelry in here just doesn't seem like you. It's too mature." I gave a small smile. "Your mother was really pretty though..." He looked back down to the pictures. It was a picture of my parents and me. I was very little.

"Yeah... She was beautiful."

There was silence for a moment before I stood up. I ruffled his hair, "Come on. Let's go shop or something."

He nodded, "I'll be out in a moment..."

"Ok." I walked out and downstairs to wait for him.
