Eliane's POV

I couldn't believe I was trusting this kid. I'd known him less than thirty minutes.

I mentally facepalmed as I guided him down the hall to an upstairs bedroom. He beamed the whole time, glancing at me every once and a while. I rolled my eyes and kept foreword. I probably had a scowl on my face the whole time.

He started skipping, "So what's you're name ma'am?"

I glanced over, "Elaine...."

He smiled, "That's a nice name!"

"Hey, how old are ya anyways kid?"

"I just turned 13 a month ago!" He said excitedly.

"Do you have any family?" I asked, trying to get to know him.

He stopped skipping and rubbed his arm, "Well.... No. I was abandoned as a baby...."

My hands clenched into fists, "I- I'm sorry I didn't know-"

"No it's ok," he looked at me, his smile returning. I smiled back. We got to a room and I opened the door. His face lit up. "This room is huge!" He ran in and jumped on the bed.

"It's actually one of the smaller ones that I have." I mumbled

He sat on the edge of the bed, "Why are there so many rooms if it's only you that lives here?"

"Well it wasn't always just me living here. When I was a kid there was a lot of family and a couple maids.... Some gardeners..... A chef....A butler or two...." I put my hand on my chin and stared at the ground in thought.

"Wow. You must be pretty rich then."

"Well...." I walked over and sat next to him. "My parents were. But when they died I inherited their money."

"How long ago?"

"What?"

"How long ago did your parents die?"

"Oh..." I looked at the ground, "A year so ago. They died in a car crash. I had to let all the staff go. They were sorry for me but I shut everyone out."

"I'm sorry to hear that....." He looked down too.

"Yeah......" I stood up. "Well this is your room. There's a bathroom down the hall. You already know where the kitchen is- help yourself to any food you want- my room is also further down the hall of you need anything." I smiled, turning to walk out.

"Wait ma'am?"

I turned and raised my eyebrows

He smiled, "How do you like your coffee?"
