Jean POV

"Mommy!" (y/n) said as he pulled on my pant leg, "Sorry sweetie, Mommy just has a lot going on at the moment." I said as I finished packing our lunch, "Ready to go?" I asked, "Yeah." I said, "I wish Scott could come, but he's about to leave on a hunting trip with Logan and Bobby." I said, "Jean do you have a moment? I'd like to discuss something rather important with you." Professor Xavier asked, "Of course, but I'm afraid we'll have to make this a quick discussion, I have plans with my son today." I said, "Then I'll keep this brief. I want you to lead the X-Men and run the institute once I'm gone." he said, "Professor!" I said in shock, "No matter what you believe, Scott, Logan, nor Henry would make a good fit. Storm declined, she thinks, just as I do, that you are the future of this institute." he said, "I would like you to recruit one new teacher." he said before. I looked down at my son who was making a finger gun aimed at the professor, "Clean shot." (y/n) said, "That's not funny." I said, "Who's joking?" he asked, "Stand down, little soldier boy." I said as he put his finger gun away, "You live, for now." he said.

I took one of the mini jets to Louisiana and set up the picnic. "Howdy there darlin'."  an old friend said as I looked up at her.

"I'd hug y'all, but I don't wanna hospitalize ya." Rogue said, "Then get down here. We have a gift for you." I said as she landed I tossed her a box, "It's a power dampener. This one can be turned off with a simple tap and it's stylish." I said as she opened the box revealing the bracelet. "This little guy helped Henry develop it. I can't begin to explain the science behind it, but I'm confident that it will work." I said as I put the bracelet on her wrist and tapped the X activating it, I took off her glove and prepared myself in case the bracelet failed, suddenly there was a clap and I looked down and saw (y/n) giving her a high-five, "Took too long." he said. "Darlin' you helped give your auntie an amazing gift, thank you." Rouge said before she kissed his cheek.

After lunch, we went shopping and Rogue bought a few cute outfits. She changed into a short-sleeved button-down blouse and jeans. "I wanna show ya what I've been doin' the past few years." Rogue said as she drove us. After a few short minutes, we arrived at a bakery, but only for her to pick up six dozen doughnuts before we got back on the road.

We arrived at an orphanage called Remy's Rescues. "This is the one place where humans and mutants coexist peacefully and without the use of collars." Rogue said as we helped carry in the boxes, "I'm back darlins." she announced, "Mama!" a few children said happily as they ran to greet her, "Come 'ere you!" she said as she scooped up the kids and hugged and kissed their heads, "Mama I thought you couldn't touch anyone?" a little boy said, "I couldn't until now. That boy right there, he's my nephew, he helped make me a special gift so now I can give all my babies a big hug." she said, "This is a big place, you can't possibly manage all this alone?" I said, "She doesn't." a far too familiar voice said as she approached.

"Mystique!" I said as I prepared to fight, "HEY! We do not fight here!" Rogue snapped, "That's quite the well-trained attack puppy you've got there." Mystique said as she put her hands up, "Clean shot." (y/n) said, "This is twice today you've threatened to blast someone, who taught you this?" I asked, "Laura and Uncle Logan." he said, "That makes sense." Rogue and I said, "Tell me little one, why do you want me dead?" Mystique asked, "Hurt Mommy, never again." (y/n) said, "DON'T HURT GRANNY!" a few kinds yelled as they tackled (y/n), "Need the belt!" (y/n) said as they dragged him away, "What belt?" Rogue asked, "Don't ask." I sighed, "Mystique have you been here all this time?" I asked, "Please call me Raven, and yes. I need to make amends." Raven said, "Then how would you feel about a job, at the institute? I was hoping to bring Rogue back in, but I think you'd be a better choice. I don't need an answer right away, but I would like you to think about it." I said, "Why the change of heart?" she asked, "It's the kids, they trust you. And I know that you can help a lot more kids just like them at the institute." I said, "I'll think about it."  she said.
