"I don't think I can do this."

Miles scoffed, shoving me down the hall. "Stop being such a little bitch."

I scoff, looking over my shoulder as he continued to coax me down the hall. "What if it's a yes?"

"Then my brother succeeded on his life-long dream of impregnating you."

"Life-long dream my ass. Miles, can you please be serious for five seconds." I swallowed the lump forming in my throat as we approached the bathroom. "I'm really fucking scared."

"Isn't this what you both wanted?"

"Of course, we wouldn't have dropped so much money into IVF if we didn't."

"Then why are you afraid?"

I sighed, looking at the wooden floor beneath my feet. "Up until now it was always just a dream, something that we prayed would happen. We've tried for so long. I've taken far too many pregnancy tests with the result always being one line. Of course, there's still a chance that the test will be negative but there's also a slightly better chance that it won't. I've gotten so used to seeing the one line, I don't know what to do if there actually is two. What if by some miracle, I am pregnant and then I lose the baby? Do you know how devastated Alex would be? And yet again, I'd be letting him down."

"Woah, woah, woah. Hold up, first things first, you by no means have let Alex down and I know for a fact that it'd upset him to hear you say that."

"How have I not Miles? I can't even give him a baby. I'm a woman, my body's supposed to be able to do that." I cried, tears filling my eyes and quickly spilling over making me look back to the floor.

"Mason, look at me." Slowly looking up, I met his sad brown eyes. "Don't for a second, think this is your fault. So what if you need a little help having a baby, so what if you can never conceive a baby or carry one of your own. So what if you need a surrogate or you adopt. Whichever way you have a baby will be what's meant for you. Not every woman can carry a baby herself and that's okay. It doesn't make her any less of a woman and it sure as hell doesn't mean she let her partner down. Alex loves you more than anything in this world and I can promise you that no matter what, he just wants you to be happy. You're absolutely right, the test could come out negative or it could be positive and it could still end badly; regardless of it all, Alex is still going to be there for you and he's still going to love you and he sure as hell is still going to want a baby with you."

I bit my lip, tasting the salt from my tears. "You're sure?"

He rolled his eyes, a small smile gracing his lips. "Honey, if I'm not, I'll personally kick his ass."

"I'm not sure if you could." He teased.

"Okay, maybe you're right but that's why I'm married to Grayson."

"So he can beat up your brother when need be?"

"Well that and I love him and he's kinda fucking hot. Okay, anyway, we're getting off topic. You go pee on the stick, I'll wait outside the door and you come get me as soon as you're done. Then we can both sit and watch videos of people falling and hurting themselves while we wait for three minutes."

I gave him a soft smile. "What would I do without you?"

He waved his hand in the air. "Bitch, you'd be dead. Now hurry up and pee on the stick. I need to know if I'm going to be an uncle.'

"But you already are."

"Yeah, but we both know that this one will be my favorite. After all, you are."

I snorted. "You're my favorite too. Now get out before I lose my courage."

Shutting the door, I pressed my back against it allowing myself to take a deep breath. Miles is right, I've got this. It's going to be okay no matter what the outcome. All I have to say is, peeing on a stick is much harder than you'd anticipate it being. After struggling to do so, I quickly capped it and placed it face down on the counter.

"You can come in!" I shouted through the door, whilst washing my hands.

Opening the door, Miles looked at me flatly. "Did you get pee on your hands again?"

"I'm sorry, am I not supposed to wash my hands after using the bathroom." He stayed quiet, continuing to stare at me. I sighed, "You try to aim your pee with a vagina. It's not like I have some long thing hanging off of me that I can aim wherever I please."

"Such poetic words." He grinned, taking a seat against the tub. "Now come sit with me while we wait, I saw this video while I was waiting and you have to see it."

Setting a five-minute timer on my phone, I took a seat next to him. Although the instructions said you only had to wait for three, I wanted the two extra minutes to be absolutely positive with what the results were.

I jumped as the timer went off, immediately looking to Miles. "I can't look, you do it."

He nodded, getting to his feet while I remained where I was. I couldn't even bring myself to look at him as he flipped over the test. "Mase,"

It was negative, I knew it. Slowly standing up, I at my friend whose face looked blank. "It's okay Miles, I was expecting it."

"You were expecting it to be positive?"

I nearly choked, "I'm sorry, what?"

"It's positive Mason."

"No, it's not." Without a word, he turned the test that clearly had two very bright pink lines on it. "Holy. Fucking. Shit." I snatched it out of his hand, holding it closer to my face as if the lines were a figment of my imagination. "Miles, there's two lines. I'm, pregnant."

"Holy fucking balls! My best friend is PREGNANT!" He screamed, making me cover my ears. "Mason, you flipping pregnant. You're pregnant! Your egg and my brother's sperm made a fucking baby and that baby is inside you at this very moment. Oh my God, oh my God. Woah," He grabbed onto the edge of the counter. "I think I'm going to pass out."

I couldn't help the loud laugh that forced its way through my lips. "Miles, there's a freaking baby in me."

He nodded, "There's a freaking baby in you."

"Oh my God. We have to tell Alex. I have to tell Alex. How am I going to tell Alex?"

"Oooo! We can do something like in all those videos you see on the internet. You know, where the girl always surprises the guy by telling him in some cute way."

"Okay." I breathed, nodding my head. I was still trying to process this. "But how?"

"Well, first we need to go on Pinterest and then we need to go to the store. You hide all of the evidence of the test and I'll be on the couch looking."

"Okay."

With that, he was out of the bathroom and making his way towards my living room whilst I, on the other hand, just stood there like a knob while my brain tried to process the fact that there was an actual human being growing inside of my body.

few

hours

Later

After hours of wandering in and out of stores trying to figure out a way to tell him, we finally settled on something simple and it also included food, which was Alex's favorite so really, we couldn't go wrong.

"Holy shit, he's here." I gasped as we pulled into the driveway.

"Well, you know, you two do live here together."

"No duh but I don't know, I just wasn't expecting him to be here before we got back."

"Well he is and everything is ready to go anyway. You've got this."

"What if he isn't happy?"

"And what if I was actually straight this whole time? Mason, he's going to be so excited he'll probably fuck you as soon as he reads it."

My face scrunched. "Ew, what the hell Miles?"

"Oh please, let's not both act like I haven't walked in on you two going at in on the kitchen counter."

"Well, maybe you shouldn't just walk into people's houses."

"You gave me a key."

"For emergencies."

"It was an emergency."

"Running out of salsa at midnight isn't an emergency."

"It is when all of the stores within a ten-minute drive are closed. It doesn't matter, what matters is that you're pregnant and you're about to go tell my brother and he's going to be fucking ecstatic."

I smiled, grabbing the door handle. "Thank you, for everything Miles."

"Of course, but I also expect this child to be named after me."

"What if it's a girl?"

"Miles can be a girl's name?"

"You'll have to talk to Alex about that." I chuckled.

"Oh don't you worry, I have. He may not have agreed then but with you on board, he will.'

"Who said I was on board?"

"Oh, you will be. I've got nine months and I can be very convincing."

"Whatever you say. I love you and thank you."

"I love you too, Boo Boo and I'm so freaking happy for you. Enjoy it, you guys are going to be incredible parents."

With one last smile, I climbed out of the car, making sure I had everything with me. I felt nauseous as I made my way towards the front door. Opening the door, I stepped in feeling as if I was going to spew the contents of my stomach.

"Baby, is that you?"

I smiled, hanging my purse on a hook beside the door. "Yeah, where are you?"

"Kitchen."

My hands began sweating as I wandered down the hall and into the kitchen. "Hey, how was work?" I smiled, finding him looking through some mail on the counter.

"It was good. How was your day?" He smiled, looking up at me. "Hey, you got donuts."

I smiled, feeling a herd of butterflies envelope my stomach. "Oh, uh, yeah. Here." I nodded, placing the box of donut holes in front of him.

Without a second thought, he slid the box over to him and popped it open. I stilled, biting the inside of my cheek. He stopped moving instantly, his eyes scanning over the words written on the inside of the box.

He looked up at me with glassy eyes, swallowing loudly. "Are you really?" His voice broke mid-sentence. I nodded, tears once again filling my eyes. Without another word, he was around the counter, wrapping his arms around me, his head burying itself in the crook of my neck, tears hitting my neck.

"You're happy, right?"

He nodded, never taking his face out my neck. After a few moments, he pulled away grabbing my face with both of his hands. "It's really happening. We're having a baby." Tears stained his cheeks, yet his lips were upturned into a smile.

I smiled, nodding again. "We're having a baby."

His lips molded against mine in a quick kiss before pulling back slightly. "I love you so much, so fucking much." And once again, his lips were against mine, fingers tangling in my hair.

author's note,

Hello.

Holy crap, this is the end. Like the real end, end. I'm honestly flabbergasted by the response I've received from this book. Honestly, when I began writing this I never would have thought that we would have made it to 100k. Which honestly, is absolutely insane. I can't thank you all enough for all of the love you've all given me.

Thank you all so very much for all of the votes and comments. I truly enjoy reading every comment you've all left.

On another note, I am writing a new book. It's completely separate from De Luca. I'll be sure to post on here when I've posted the first chapter and I hope you all go check it out.

Thank you once again for everything, I love you all.

Love always,

Maisie
