Mason
The rest of the week had gone by seemingly normal and quite mundane if I must say. It was now Friday and I was dreading maths, not because of anything or anyone in specific; I just hated math in general. Of course, I wasn't paying attention to anything as usual and ended smacking directly into someone, causing me to fall back on my butt with a painful thud.
"Crap, I'm so sorry." I rushed out, climbing on my knees whilst looking up to the poor unfortunate soul that I had crashed into. A beautiful girl stared back at me with wide brown eyes.
"Oh, don't worry about it." She smiled, shaking her head as she climbed onto her knees as well; assisting me in picking up the books and papers that had fallen from our hands.
"Really, I'm so sorry. I should've been paying attention to where I was going. I didn't hurt you did I?" I asked concerned, getting to my feet and sticking my hand out to help her up as well. She smiled again, grabbing my hand.
"It's really okay and no, I'm good. I've got a huge butt so my fall was cushioned.
I smiled at her words, handing over her books. "I'm Mason."
"Piper. Hey, you're the new girl who's always with the De Luca brothers right?"
I nodded, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. "Uh yeah. I live with them."
Her eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. "You live with those beautiful pieces of art."
"Yeah, our fathers have been friends since college."
"Lucky. Why couldn't my dad's friends have hot sons." She sighed dramatically. "The only one who has a kid happens to be a twenty-five-year-old gamer who still lives at home in their basement. Though I will admit he's come on to me before. Thanks but no thanks." I laughed as she shuttered at the thoughts. "What class do you have next?"
"Maths with Mr. Gregor."
"Oh ew. Seriously, that guy gives me the creeps. He's always staring at the girls like a damn predator." I nodded in agreement, he was weird. "I, unfortunately, have science but my class is right across the hall from yours. We should meet up after and have lunch together. That is if you can manage to pull yourself away from the Greek Gods you live with."
I smiled shaking my head. "I'll meet you here," I said pointing to the bulletin board directly beside her classroom.
"Yes! See you." She chirped before disappearing into her class.
I couldn't have been more excited about the prospect of having an actual friend. Of course I was friends with the boys, well most of them but still; I wanted to be able to make friends of my own and until now, the opportunity had yet to show itself. Of course, I had only spoken to her for a whole of maybe two minutes but I was hoping that this would all work out and I would possibly have a new friend. A girl needed another girl to talk to. I barely paid attention to anything that was coming out of Mr. Gregor's mouth, partly because I really couldn't care less about what he was talking about and because I was watching him stare creepily at Bridget Ames while she stared back at him somewhat seductively. Which, okay, ew. The dude was like forty and was balding. Maybe she needed a better grade or maybe she was just into old dudes but hey, who am I to judge.
I sighed in relief as the bell rang overhead dismissing us from this torcher chamber. I got up, shoving my pen and notebook into my backpack as I made my way out of the classroom wanting to get out as quickly as possible. Mainly because I was freaking starving. I hadn't heard my alarm go off which in turn left me a little less than ten minutes to get ready this morning after Miles came barging in asking me if I was ready yet; which also meant that I didn't have time to eat breakfast.
I smiled, approaching Piper who was already waiting for me, looking up as soon as I was within a foot of her. "Hey, let's go. I'm starving." She linked her arm through mine and began tugging me along.
"Me too!" I said dramatically, rubbing my stomach. "I missed breakfast this morning."
"Oh, you poor thing." She patted the hand that was laying over my stomach. "Let's get you food before you pass out." She laughed. We soon made our way into the lunch line where I chose pizza, curly fries okay, I got extra curly fries and a water. After paying, I followed behind her as she led the way through the cafeteria towards a table a little offset from the middle where the boys always sat. There was a boy already sitting there, munching away on his food happily. As soon as we sat down, he looked up; his eyes falling to me.
"Stop staring weirdo," Piper muttered, taking a bite out of her apple.
"You can't just bring a hot girl over here and expect me not to stare." He smirked.
"Uh, seeing as you prefer to take it in the ass, yes I can." She snorted causing the smirk to fall off his face.
"Piper." He whined, hitting his fist on the table.
"Blake." She replied, whining just as he had.
"You can't just go around telling everyone that I'm gay."
"I didn't know it was a secret. Especially after you made out with Clayton last year in front of the whole junior and senior class."
"I was drunk. No one actually thinks I'm into guys."
"But you are." She deadpanned.
"But that's not what everyone thinks,"
"Oh yes, they do."
"What? No, they don't. Who said this?"
"Blake, will you just shut up so I can eat in peace? Everyone knows you're gay and nobody cares. Oh and this is Mason. Mason this is my twin Blake."
"Hi," I said quietly, taking a bite from my fry.
"Mason. Mason as in the Mason that lives with the absolutely breathtaking De Luca brothers?" He practically squealed causing Piper to snort. "Yeah, totally not gay." She muttered causing him to glare at her for a moment before turning his attention back to me.
"Uh, yeah?" I wasn't sure why it had come out sounding like a question. I guess I was just a bit surprised that he knew what my living arrangements were.
"Wait." Piper interrupted, her mouth full of her cheeseburger. "How did you know she lived with them?"
"How did you not know? It's all anyone's talking about. All the girls are jealous and hating on her. Which if you ask me is pathetic but what can you say about these basic high school bitches." He shrugged. "Anyway, what's it like living with them? Do they just walk about naked all the time? Oh, oh! Do they have big penises?"
I started choking on my pizza as soon as the words left his mouth. Piper reached up instantly, patting my back until my coughing fit stopped. "Jesus B, are you trying to kill the girl?"
"So I take it from your reaction that they're penises are big?" He smirked, leaning forward with his chin resting on his palm.
"What's big?"
I turned around finding Miles sliding into the seat beside me, setting his tray down on the table. "Hey Miles." I smiled turning back to see Piper staring wide-eyed at the boy beside me and her brother doing the same.
"Uh," I paused confused as to why the two siblings were staring at the poor boy like he was a meal. "Miles, this is Piper and Blake. Guys, this is Miles which I'm assuming you already ready knew."
"Hey." Miles beamed, grabbing his chocolate milk. I nudged Piper with my elbow knocking her out of whatever state of shock she was in.
"H-hi." She stuttered, looking down immediately as a light blush covered her cheeks.
"Are we sitting here now?" Nico's voice echoed as he took a seat beside Miles. "Hey, baby doll." He smiled over at me to which I smiled back.
"Hi, Nico." I chirped.
Miles shrugged. "Don't know. Mason was over here so I just came over."
"Well then, I wouldn't want to be away from my little sugar plum now would I?" Nico smirked, making me shake my head at his idiotic nicknames. Soon enough Sutton, Milo, Kai, and Oliver were all sitting at the table while everyone conversed. Well aside from Blake, he just sat there staring at Sutton like he was God's gift to earth.
Suddenly, everyone stopped talking as someone slid into the last empty seat which just so happened to be on the other side of me. I knew who it was instantly, before he even sat down, his familiar scent invading my nose.
"Sup?" Blake nodded, attempting to sound cool though he really just looked extremely awkward. Alex looked at him confused and then nodded slightly unsure if that's what he was supposed to do.
I hated the fact that goosebumps rose all over my body as his arm slightly touched mine. I swallowed tightly, shifting in my seat. "You okay?" His warm breath brushed against my ear causing an involuntary shiver.
"M, I, Uh, yeah," I mumbled, nodding. I could see his smirk in my peripherals. I moved closer to Miles causing the smirk to instantly vanish.
"Hey, sweetheart." Miles smiled, throwing his arm over my shoulder making Alex's hands clenched tight into fists, his knuckles turning white.
"Dude, you okay?" Kai asked, taking in Alex's tense demeanor.
"Fine." He grunted and stood up leaving. Everyone watched at his retreating figure until he was out of the cafeteria.
"What the hell is his problem?" Nico asked, a piece of pizza flying out of his mouth and into the center of the table.
"Ew. Nico." I laughed and everyone followed. Nico blushed, looking quite endearing as he mumbles a quiet sorry.
"So, Mason are you going to the party tonight?" Piper asked, taking the attention off of an all too embarrassed Nico.
"Party?" I asked confused.
"You haven't heard about it?" She asked shocked while I shook my head. "Parker Galloway is throwing a party. You have to come."
"I mean, I guess I could go." I nodded, slightly unsure. It wasn't that I had never been to a party before but when I had gone before it was obviously with the people I had grown up with and known my whole life. I had, for obvious reasons, never been to a party in America and who's to say they weren't completely different. I could only expect that they would be.
"Oh my God. Yes! You can come over and get ready at my house if you want."
"Okay." I smiled, excited to actually be getting out of the house with someone else aside from the boys.
"Okay, cool. You can come over at six if that's good with you."
"Yeah, that sounds perfect. Here, put your number in my phone so you can text me the address." I smiled, handing over my phone. Miles squeezed my shoulder, cooing. "Look at that. My little Mason has made herself a friend." I rolled my eyes, shoving him away.
Lunch soon ended and I made sure to grab the tray that Alex had uncaringly left behind in his hast to leave. Though I grabbed the unopened bag of chips, banana, and water to bring to him in case he might be hungry. I walked into History surprised to find Alex already occupying a seat in the last row in the back. I quickly walked toward him instead of taking a seat and avoiding him as per usual. His jaw was still clenched somewhat as I approached him.
"What Mason?"
I swallowed hating the nerves that filled my stomach. "Are you okay?"
"Fuck off Mason."
"I-"
"What is it that your peanut sized brain can't comprehend. I don't want to talk to you. Not everyone is obsessed with your pathetic ass." he snapped, looking at me blankly.
I bit my lip as tears began to burn my eyes. His words hurt, just as they always did. I swallowed yet again, only this time there was a large uncomfortable lump now lodged in my throat. "S- sorry. I just, " I stopped speaking deciding it'd be best if I did. I quickly set down the food I had grabbed him and rushed across the room taking a seat as far away from his as I could get. I blinked a few times attempting to get the tears to disappear. I don't even know why I was about to cry anyway. Alex because an absolute tit face wasn't anything new. I sighed, leaning my cheek in my palm as the teacher came into the room, setting her purse under her desk.
I could feel someone's stare burning into my back as I sat quietly, trying to pay attention to whatever is was Mrs. Abraham was droning on about but really, my mind was elsewhere. Upsettingly on a certain kumquat who got some sick pleasure out of being a complete jerkface to me. As soon as class ended, I was up and out of my desk as fast as my little legs could carry me.
The rest of the day passed by annoyingly slow and finally, I couldn't have been happier when the final bell rang. I practically skipped out the door and into the parking lot. Miles was standing beside his car talking to some boy who I had seen around school a few times. He was quite cute and seeing how Miles was looking at him with big doe eyes; he thought so as well. I slowed my pace down to give them some more time to talk. It was clear Miles was smitten and for his sake, I could only hope nameless boy was too.
Eventually, I had to approach them. At this point, I had drug out the process long enough that if I didn't walk up to them soon then I was going to begin to look like a weirdo who walked at the speed of a slot if I didn't already. I still remained towards the back of the car while they stood close to the front, leaning my back against the trunk as I waited for them to finish their conversation. A minute or so later, Nico popped up out of nowhere causing me to jump.
He nudged my shoulder with him, chuckling. "Hey pork chop."
"Pork chop, really?" I snorted.
"Hey what's wrong with it? I think it's quite endearing."
"Mm, not so much but sure." I shrugged.
"Whose Miles talking to?" He furrowed his eyebrows as he looked over my shoulder. I glanced back as well, finding a blushing Miles with a wide smile etched onto his mouth.
"Hey, Nico." I hastily spoke wanting him to look away from Miles and No name before he was able to catch on that they were flirting.
His eyes snapped to me instantly. "Uh, yeah?" I stepped beside him, grabbing ahold of his jacket pushing him until he was standing where I had previously been. "What are you," he said, beginning to turn around again.
"Hey, you remember that time where you saw me in my underwear?" I blurt hoping it's enough to distract him. He smiled almost instantly, his eyes staring off into the distance. "Yes. I. Do." A wide smile growing on his lips as he enunciated each word.
Soon enough, Miles and no name had finished talking. "Why the hell is Miles staring off?" Miles asked as he came to stand beside me.
"Uh, I just- Nico" I tapped his shoulder though it did nothing to get his attention. "Hello, Nico." I snapped my fingers in front of his face. Still nothing. "Nico! Stop thinking about me in my underwear." I whispered yelled which thankfully pulled him out of whatever disturbing thoughts he was having.
"Thinking of you in your underwear?" Miles questioned, confused.
"I'll explain later," I mumbled, feeling slightly uncomfortable about the way that Nico was now looking at me. "Uh, can we go?"
Miles nodded, slapping his Nicos head on his way around the car to which Nico grabbed his head whining out. "What the hell was that for?"
"Stop staring at Mason like she's a damn snack," he muttered, placing his arms over the top of his car.
"A delicious snack I'd like to eat," Nico said, staring at me like an absolute creep. In return, I crossed my arms over my chest, uncomfortable.
"Nico, shut the hell up before I punch you in the dick," Miles muttered, shaking his head.
"What? I, "
"Plus, everyone can see your boner. May want to control yourself there." Miles said far louder than he needed to, a smirk on his lips as he climbed into the drivers side. Nico on the other hand immediately placed his hands over his crotch while his face turned beet red. He scrambled into the backseat, keeping his eyes off of me. I climbed into the passenger seat, laughing along with Miles while he pulled out of the parking lot.
