"Can we please go home?" I whined. My feet were aching and my stomach was growling as Piper dragged me into yet another store. When I had offered to go shopping and get food with; I thought we'd actually be getting food. No a bag of chips and calling it a meal.
"Stop whining." Piper chasted.
"I'm hungry. You said we were going to go shopping and get food and I haven't gotten any food." I grumped, glancing up at the manikin dressed in a lacy bra and underwear set. I hadn't even realized we were in Victoria's Secret until I actually glanced around noticing the various types of lingerie surrounding us.
"We ate something."
"Chips. All we've eaten is a tiny bag of chips in the last six hours. Who can even shop for six hours?"
"If you stop whining, as soon as we're done with this store we can go grab something to eat. Then I a surprise for you."
My interest peaked. "A surprise?"
"Yes now shh and find some cute underwear and then we can go."
"I don't need underwear though."
"Everyone can use new underwear. When was the last time you bought new underwear anyway?"
"I don't know. I bought a pack at Target a few months back." I shrugged.
"A pack. At Target? No, no, no. We can't have you buying packs of underwear. You need sexy underwear."
"I don't think I need any sexy underwear." I blushed.
"Oh but you do. Here, let me help you pick out some."
"I really don't think I need any."
"The sooner you help me pick you out some, the sooner we can go and get food."
I groaned. "Fine but only because I'm hungry." She shook her head and smiled.
Another forty-five minutes later and we were finally in the car. My feet were aching and I swear I was going to pass out if I didn't get in my body within the next fifteen minutes. Okay, that's a little dramatic but I'm still hungry and I get grumpy when I don't have food. Probably why I'm so chunky.
"Where do you want to eat?" Piper asked as she pulled to the end of the car park waiting until it was safe for her to go.
"I don't care. Something that doesn't take long. Oh, look, Burger King. Let's go there."
"You sure you don't want to go to an actual restaurant?"
"Actual restaurants take too long. I need food now."
"You're so overdramatic." She shook her head, switching lanes so she could pull into Burger King.
"Well maybe if someone didn't insist on shopping for three days then I wouldn't be so famished."
"Three days? What is wrong with you? We were only shopping for like two hours."
"Actually it was like seven. We left at three and it's no nearing ten. You know we're probably going have to do your little surprise tomorrow. They're probably closed by now or will be by the time we get food."
"Oh no, no. Don't you worry. We still have a good thirty minutes before anything starts which leaves us just enough time to get food and get there."
"Where the hell are we going that doesn't start whatever it is it's starting until nearly ten thirty at night?"
"Just you wait and see my little Mason pop."
My face scrunched at the nickname. What the actual hell is with every giving me nicknames? Can't they just call me by my name? "Please don't ever call me that again."
"Oh but why not? You're so petite and tiny. I think it fits you quite well."
"Yeah, I'm going to have to say, no."
She was about to reply but was cut short by a man asking us what we'd like to order over the intercom. I let Piper order first as I was scanning over the menu.
"Are you going to order or just stare at the menu all day?"
"Oh yeah, sorry." I leaned towards her window so that they would be able to hear me. "I'd like a number seven, large with a Dr. Pepper. Also an order of cheese curds and a medium Onion ring. Oh and a chocolate milkshake, please and thank you." I grinned, sliding back into my seat while Piper just stared at me. "What?" I asked defensively.
"Nothing, just are you sure you can eat all of that? I mean, how are you going to fit all of that food into your tiny body?"
I laughed, "Tiny body, okay. Don't worry, I can more than fit all of that food into my body." I quickly pulled a twenty out of my wallet holding it towards her though she ignored it. "Take it." I urged, shaking the bill.
"No, now go away." She swiped at me, handing the money over to the boy half hanging out the window.
"What? Just take it."
"No now shh or I'm going to eat your onion rings."
"You wouldn't."
She smirked looking at me after thanking the boy and pulling to the second window. "Oh, I so would."
"Fine but I still think it's dumb that you won't take it."
"Yeah, yeah."
My stomach instantly growled as soon as the first bag was passed through the window, the delicious scent of grease and fast food filling my nostrils. I wasted no time, shoving a hand full of french fries into my mouth, groaning with satisfaction.
"Ew. With the sounds, you're making one would think Alex was in here eating you." I choked on my fries, sputtering out a few chewed up pieces all over her dashboard. "Oh come on. That's so gross." Piper whined, pulling a napkin out of one of the bags and wiping the remnants of chewed food off of her car.
"Why the hell would you say that?" I muttered, taking a sip of soda to ease my throat.
"What?"
"What do you mean what? You can't just say things like that. Alex and I aren't, we aren't anything. I don't even know why you would say something like that."
She rolled her eyes, taking a bite out her burger. "It's so obvious Mase."
"What's so obvious?"
"That you two like each other."
"Um, no we don't," I mumbled, looking out the windscreen and shoving some more fries into my mouth.
"Um, yes you do. Everyone thinks so."
"Everyone? Everyone as in who?"
"Everyone, as in everyone."
"That's a lie."
"No, it's not. Ask anyone. It's all anyone at school talks about. I can't believe you haven't heard anyone talking about it."
"Aside from the fact of not believing a thing you say. I don't really listen to what others have to say."
"Yeah well, my words are true nevertheless."
I chose to keep my mouth shut, partly because I was too busy shoving food into my mouth and partly because my mind was trying to process what she had actually said. Do people really think Alex and I like one another? I mean, yeah he's attractive but you'd have to be blind to not see it but that doesn't mean that I like him. I know he certainly doesn't like me. He's told me multiple times. Still, I didn't like him. I couldn't like him. One because he's a major douche and two because well, he's a major douche. Plus he doesn't seem like the guy to actually like girls. He more or less fucks them and then moves on to the next.
"So where is this big surprise we're going to?" I mumbled after a few minutes deciding to change the subject.
"You'll see in just a second." I sighed and looked around, seeing if I noticed any of the surroundings though I highly doubted I would. My eyebrows furrowed as we passed a convenience store that looked all too familiar.
Realization hit me and my stomach instantly dropped. "No, no, no. No."
"Oh yes, yes, yes." She grinned, evilly pulling into a parking spot.
"No. Last time I was here everything turned to shit. There is no way in hell I'm stepping foot in that place."
"Oh come on. Don't be Debbie Downer."
"I'm not being a Debbie Downer. I just, I don't want to go in there."
"Please. Plus Alex is fighting. I know he'll be happy to see you." She wagged her perfectly shaped eyebrows.
I guffawed. "Trust me, I'm the last person he wants to see; especially here."
"I highly doubt that."
"Last time I came here with Nico and Alex nearly blew gasket. I really don't think this is a good idea."
"You'll get to see him shirtless." She offered. "Shirtless and sweaty."
"I- that- you. I don't care. He's barely anything to look at." I shrugged.
"The blush erupting all over your face says differently."
'I'm not blushing." I retorted.
"Are too. Now let's go. We don't want to miss any of the fights. Alex may be yours but mama needs to find herself a man and who better than a sexy ass fighter."
"Alex is not mine and I'm just going to try and ignore the entire second part of what you said."
"Either way, let's go."
"I hate you," I grunted.
"Mhm, sure whatever you say. Now let's go find me a man."
I laughed at her and climbed out of the car, I can't believe I was actually doing this. Nothing good could ever come from this so I honestly have no idea why I agreed to this. Technically, I didn't really agree but whatever. I tucked my arms my torso, catching up with her. "How do you plan to get in here by the way? You do know that you need to be on the list or with someone who is."
"I have a feeling getting in won't be a problem."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
She shrugged and continued to the door, the big scary man from last time was stood in front of the same door, looking just as eerie as last time. Though a smile broke onto his face as we approached. "Mason."
I nearly choked on my spit. "You remember me?"
"Of course. There's no way I could forget the girl that has our brutal Assassin so enamored." Piper looked back at me, a smug smile on her face; while I, on the other hand, kept opening and closing my mouth like a damn fish. "Anyway, you two go ahead and be careful. Some of those men are creeps. If you can't find any of the boys in there just come out and get me. Okay?"
"Yes, sir." Piper mock saluted causing him to chuckle.
"I'm Anders by the way."
I gave him a small smile. "Thank you, Anders."
"No problem. You be careful in there."
We both nodded and headed in, the plain walls surrounding us. As soon as we made it to the last set of doors it was clear to hear the loud cheers from the other side. With one last breath, I pulled open the door, wincing at the volume. It was much harder this time around, to make our way through the crowd seeing as Nico assisted, okay he pushed us through the last time. We remained somewhere between the middle and front which hopefully kept up hidden from Alex's view or anyone else the would rat me out.
We were a few fights in when my large Dr. Pepper and milkshake finally got to me. I really did want to go to the bathroom here. Though I had no choice seeing as it was either go use the bathroom or pee myself and honestly, I'd rather not do the latter. I leaned towards Piper so that she was able to hear me. "I'm going to go the bathroom."
"Are you sure? I don't know if it's safe enough."
"I'll be fine. I'll be quick, I promise."
"Are you sure? I can fo with you."
"No really, it's fine. I'll be right back."
She looked unsure but nodded her head and let me go anyway. I kept my head high in an attempt to look a lot more confident that I was. Oddly enough, the bathrooms were clearly labeled. Thankfully I made it to the bathroom without anyone bothering me. I used the bathroom as quickly as I could, not forgetting to wash my hands. The halls were empty which I kind of appreciated.
"Mason."
And apparently, I spoke too soon. I turned around, hesitantly, at the deep voice the resounded through the bare hallway. "I'm sorry, do I know you?" I asked, feeling uneasy.
"No my dear, I'm afraid you don't but I know you," he smirked and not the same sexy kind of smirk that Alex did, no this one was creepy. Which fit seeing as the man himself was creepy as well.
"Um, okay. I'm going to get back to my friend now." I nodded, wanting to get as far away from this man as possible.
"Eh, not so fast." He muttered as I turned around only to find another sketchy ass dude standing a few feet from me with his arms crossed.
"I don't know where you know me from and I'm sorry if I did something to piss you off but I don't appreciate being cornered. So if you could kindly ask your friend to move, it would be greatly appreciated."
"I will but first, I'd like to have a little talk with you."
"Uh, okay?"
"The word is you're Alex's' girl."
What the hell is with everyone? "I'm not anyone's girl, seeing as I am not an object, therefore, I cannot be owned. Also, there's nothing going on between me and Alex, though I'm not necessarily sure why you're concerned about it. But no, Alex and I are nothing. Can I go now?"
"Mmm, see, you say that, but I find it hard to believe."
"Well sorry you don't believe me but, it's the truth."
"Oh, I see. You're in denial."
"I'm not in denial of anything." I snapped, fed up with whatever it was, that this was. I don't even know this man nor do I know why he's so interested in me and Alex and dour non-existent relationship.
He chuckled, however, there happened to be zero humor in it. "Well my dear, Alex seems to be captivated by you which happens to be fortunate for me." ,
"Uh, okay?"
"Just do me a favor, yeah?"
"I'm not sure. I don't really feel comfortable, " I trailed off unsure of what to say.
"Just let Alex know that Sinister says hello."
