Happy Halloween
Everywhere around me, people had masks to their faces. They bumbled around aimlessly like they couldn't see - yet, I had seen them attack more than enough victims to know otherwise. On their faces were taunting grins - chilling, and yet, captivating. So, so, captivating.
My limbs moved of their own accord.
Out of my hiding place they took me, and they refused to respond to my commands, instead, dragging me out into the open.
Panic rose to my lungs as I tried to struggle, my throat constricting. What was this? What was happening? Slowly, as my presence caught more and more of the masked attention, the strangers moved in, their menacing grins becoming closer and closer.
Out of fright, I lashed out, throwing my foot up. To my surprise, the hit landed, and the one stranger - no, monster - crumpled to the ground. Despite that, the painted smile remained. I had to get out. But there was no escape, just a barricade of the beasts cornering me. They reached out, grasping for anything their hands could find. 'Help!' I tried to scream, but there was no one around to hear. The fingers clenched, some breaking skin, and though I wasn't focusing on it, I could swear I heard voices. Some were laughing, some were in some sort of overly sweet, crooning voice, and some spoke in a harsh tone, almost scolding me.
The masks all smiled at my pain.
One of the beast's hands grasped my chin, yanking it upward. All that ran through my mind was that this was to be my demise, but that wasn't their plan.
Some uncomfortably warm material slid onto my face, and like an instant, they all moved off of me.
Uninterested. Ready to close in on a new victim.
As for me? My lips were curled up, painfully high, in an unnatural grin.
