Thanks
I guess first off I should apologize huh? When I got challenged to write a sequel to Love Is Pink I admit. I was stumped.
I mean from the outside it looks obvious the Love Is Pink story could continue, Kokichi still had to see the rest of DICE. Deal with the death of Chiasa and Kazue, Shuichi and him had a relationship and the expectations of what his health would be post-Hanahaki. How did the Phantom Thief case play out in the end and did Shuichi manage to protect the rest of DICE?
Also, will Shoto (not Todoroki I swear to-) ever get grandbabies?
It seems like I could have done so much more, there was so much more I should have explored...but I didn't. Because all these ideas were after the fact. When the story was already halfway done and it was too late.
This story isn't my best work, sequels are rarely better huh? The plot of Masks was mostly based on how I thought the relationship would progress with my epilogue in Love Is.
I realized the more unhealthy dynamics that could have raised from how they started dating and that influenced the story, with Shuichi unknowingly acted overprotective of Kokichi. And over time Kokichi couldn't take it anymore as both failed to communicate earlier, with Shuichi by not telling him about DICE's case and his own anxiety revolving around Kokichis mental health and physical health and Kokichi for not telling Shuichi how uncomfortable this behavior made him.
These reasons led to the breakup. And once again I had ruined Oumasai.
Is it obvious how much of this was sporadic? Some plot points were always there, Ouma and Saihara would always break up in this story, and Ace was always Mio (I do wish though I had gone ahead and made a Mio backstory chapter, it was just too late though by the time I thought of it)
I did have plans to expand on DICE more and their personalities, as some frankly don't have much depth despite me having these OC's for maybe two years now and that's a bit embarrassing. I also wanted to explore how they reacted to the deaths of Kazue and Chiasa and how they interact with one another, I hope I made them seem less like plot devices and more like an actual group.
I do think I could have done better with this, but some things I am proud of. Mirai was originally going to die at the end of the story, but I realized that would be a reskin on what happened to Chiasa and decided against it.
I also am proud of how I attempted to make the falling out of Saihara and Ouma somewhat realistic, might not be satisfying though but hey I think all artists feel like that.
I thank you all for reading and no there will never be the third one. I'll let you guys write long paragraphs in the comments on whether or not Saihara and Ouma get back together and if they get married.
