◇ Chapter 8 ◇
Emily stood up from her chair as she introduced Michael to the two men , "Michael this is detective Miller " she said pointing to the man confront of Michael. The man smiled at her then turned to look at Michael. "I know you're pretty tired after a long day at school so let's cut to the chase, shall we?" Detective Miller said as he sat back on his chair and gestured for Michael to take a seat too.
Michael who was still processing what was happening smiled softly as he went to sit near Emily. Emily got up a she offered to make some tea and get some snacks. "Now son I hope you do realize we don't have much time to waste, do you know anything about the latest murder event that took place in your school?" Michael shook his head. The detective stared at him and so did he. Michael looked at the detective from head to toe as if he was scanning him. "Well we have a witness who said you had something to do with the murder of Stephanie Myers, do you have anything to say for yourself?" The detective spoke while maitaining eye contact with Michael who seemed composed as ever. Michael was surprised to hear there was a witness who told the cops about his involvement in the murder, guess he wasn't stealthy as he thought. Whoever this witness was he had to find out who they were and get rid of them.
"If you don't mind may i ask who your
witness is?" Michael said but the
detective shook his head, "Now now you know we can't give that information out , we might as well tell you their address. But if you must know it was somebody from your school" the detective said with a casual smirk on his face . Michael didn't really seem bother by the way the detective acted it looked like it was only a witness they had and nothing more so all Michael had to do was play dumb for the most part. Emily brought the tea and snacks after moments that seemed like forever.
"What's this i hear about my boy been involved in a murder case?"
Emily said with a raised eyebrow. The detective smiled and told her it was all for formality and they just needed to interrogate Michael but as it stands now there was no solid evidence. The detective kept asking Michael the same questions but he kept giving them the same answer.
"I told you I was in the auditorium when it all happened, one second she's doing her routine and the next thing she gets crushed by those huge expensive highly overrated stage lights" Michael said as the interrogation began to bore Michael. The detectives, after a the whole back and forth murder trivia decided to take their leave. Emily escorted the detectives outside as they stood by the doorstep. Michael peeked through the window and saw the detectives saying something to Emily before they finally got into their car and drove off. Michael went up to his room . Laying on the bed and heaving a sigh of relief but something was still on his mind. Who was this so calls witness , if anything he needed to find out who they are and get rid of them but thinking about it again that would only sus him out.
"I just have to play it safe for now" He said to himself as he layed back on his bed, he looked towards his desk and spotted his calendar, a thought crossed his mind . Tomorrow is saturday and he had a date with that girl Emily.
"From one pain in the ass to another " he said as he pulled his pillow close to his head and looked up at the ceiling slowly drifting off to sleep.

Waking up to his famous insufferable alarm, Michael got ready as he did his workout and took a nice cold shower before heading downstairs for breakfast.
"Good Morning!!" Emily said in a loud cheerful tone. She's probably happy because it's a saturday and her off day from work where she could just lay back and be lazy. Anyways I'm not going to stick around and watch her lazy around, Michael thought to himself. He finished his food as he did the dishes and cleared up the table.
"Oh you're clearing up for the first time huh? My boy is growing up, Emily said with a smile on her face. Michael ignored her words as he wore his jacket. Apparently weather forecast said it was gonna be pretty chilly today. Michael walked out the door as he took out his wallet, hmm roughly $50 in cash was in it. He had already calculated the budget for the day. He stopped a cab which was coated in fressh yellow paint and black strips.
"Where to sir?" The cab driver asked
"Hilary Avenue" Michael responded as he wore his gloves and rubbed his hands fast trying to warm up his hands. In about ten to twenty minutes the cab pulled up in front of a coffee shop. Michael got out the cab paying the driver he turned around to look at the cafe. Brewton Cafe - a low-key but yet serene cafe which was now the first meeting point of Michael's date. He and Emily agreed to meet at this cafe since she was feeling shy about him coming to her home to pick her up. Michael walked inside the cafe and it sure looked kinda big on the inside than on the outside. A waitress ushered Michael to a free seat. He ordered two lattés and some waffles. As he waited for his date to arrive he remembered that he still had to find the witness and then find a way to get rid of them. Suddenly Michael remembered the envelope that was locked in Dr Nancy drawer,
"looks like I will start from there" he thought to himself while staring at the window. As he was lost in thought he felt a hand touch his back followed by a soft voice, "Michael? Is that you?" He turned around to see Emily . She wore a red turtle neck sweater and a black skirt with a pair of long knee high socks. Even Michael couldn't deny It, "you look Magnificent" Michael said as he gestured for her to sit down. Soon their orders came and Emily eyes lit up when she saw the pancakes , guess he made the right choice ordering it for the both of them. While they were eating he put his right hand in his right pocket of his jacket and brought out a small black case and stretched forth his hand to give it to her. "A present...for me? Emily blushed as she took the case . She slowly opened it to see a silver heart necklace in It. Her eyes lit up as she could not hide her expression of Joy. "Thank you so much Michael, I love it" she said while smiling at him. He stood up from his seat as he went beside her and help her put on the necklace. They finished their and soon they were off , Michael had got them tickets to see a horror movie. "I'm not really a fan of horror movies" Emily said while holding Michael by the arm. They arrived at the Cinema as they got their popcorn and headed for the theatre. The theatre was pitch black and only the light from the projector luminated the room. Michael and Emily walked over to their seats as Michael gave Emily her popcorn. "So do you work for Dr Nancy? Michael said as he turned to look at Emily. He could see her blue eyes looking even brighter in the dark theatre. "Well not really, I just volunteered to help her since she's really nice" Emily said as she took a handful of popcorn and in a split second gulped it down. Didn't know girls liked popcorn much. "Nice huh? Ok so you handle all her files and stuff" Michael asked Emily who was really focused on the movie. "Uh..yh ,although I'm the one incharge of all the files she gives me" she said still focused on my movie. Michael paused to think of a way to get the keys to the drawer and get the files, there was a moment of silence before Michael turned to look at Emily once again with a smirk on his face he put his hand around her shoulder pulling her a little close before turning to watch the movie. Emily who was all flustered by the bold action Michael made decided to go with the flow and lean in towards Michael. Her cheeks were red and she could feel her heart skip a beat as she moved her hand close to her chest , "is this what they call love?"she thought.Michael watterson who was a Chad, smart and charismatic was now holding her close to him.It almost felt too good to be true.

As they strolled hand in hand down 4th avenue, the evening air was filled with a sense of excitement and nervousness. Michael walked Emily home, the soft glow of the streetlights casting a warm ambiance over the quiet neighborhood. They arrived at Emily's apartment building, and as they stepped inside, the sound of laughter and music from the other apartments faded into the background.
As they ascended the stairs to the 3rd floor, where Emily and her mom lived, the tension between them grew thicker. Michael's eyes locked onto Emily's, and he couldn't help but be drawn in by her sparkling gaze. They stood outside her apartment door, the air charged with anticipation.
Without a word, Michael wrapped his arms around Emily, pulling her close as they shared a tender hug. Their eyes met, and they gazed deeply into each other's souls. Emily felt Michael's cold breath dance across her skin, sending shivers down her spine.
As they stood there, the world around them melted away, leaving only the two of them. Michael's face drew closer, his lips inches from Emily's. She could feel the electricity building between them, and her heart skipped a beat as Michael's lips brushed against hers.
The kiss was soft and gentle, yet it sent waves of excitement coursing through Emily's veins. As they stood there, lost in the moment, the world outside receded, leaving only the thrum of their hearts beating as one. "I guess I will see you at school tomorrow?" Emily said as she averted her gaze from his. Michael nodded his head as he hugged her one more time and walked away. As Michael stood outside Emily's apartment, a philosophical musing drifted through his mind. "Love," he thought, "is an emotion that can both cripple and empower. It's a sentiment that can blind us to reason, yet its influence can be manipulated and exploited." A sly smile spread across his face as he retrieved a key from his pocket.
With a sense of satisfaction, Michael turned to gaze at the apartment once more. His eyes gleamed with amusement as he whispered to himself, "Thanks, Emily. You've just made my job infinitely simpler." The sound of his own voice seemed to amuse him, and he let out a low, menacing chuckle.

Michael slowly turned the handle, easing the door open to avoid the creaking noise. He slipped off his shoes, placing them beside the door mat with deliberate care, ensuring not a sound escaped. As he tiptoed towards the stairs, his eyes darted around, hoping to avoid detection by his stepmother.
Feeling a surge of relief as he neared his room, Michael checked both ways down the hallway, verifying he was alone. He slowly turned the handle, pushing the door open before slipping inside. As he shut the door behind him, he let out a sigh of relief, feeling he'd dodged a bullet.
His hand fumbled along the wall, searching for the light switch. Finally, his fingers found it, and he flipped it on, bathing the room in a warm glow. As he turned, his eyes met an unexpected sight: his stepmother, Emily, sat on his bed, a knowing smile spreading across her face.
"Welcome home, Michael," she said, her voice dripping with an unsettling sweetness.
Michael's expression darkened, his displeasure evident. He didn't like her in his room, and her presence made him uneasy. "What are you doing here?" he asked gruffly.
Emily's smile never wavered as she stood, her eyes glinting with a hint of warning. "Just reminding you to be careful, Michael. That's all." With that, she exited the room, leaving Michael wondering what she'd meant.
Shrugging off the encounter, Michael began to undress, his mind drifting to Emily – his classmate, not his stepmother. He couldn't shake the feeling that using her to get the files he needed was a risky move. As he headed for the shower, his thoughts swirled with conflicting emotions.
"Fuck it," he muttered to himself, pushing aside his doubts. "I'll do whatever it takes."
As he stood before the mirror, admiring his chiseled physique, a self-assured smirk spread across his face. He flexed, feeling a sense of pride in his workout regimen. With a final glance, he lay down on his bed, drifting off to sleep.
But his rest was short-lived.
In his dream, a girl's terrified voice pierced the air. "Monster! You're a monster! Don't touch me!" She pushed him away, fleeing into the darkness. Michael gave chase, stumbling and falling over something.
As he struggled to his feet, he saw a body lying on the ground, covered in blood. His heart racing, he crawled closer, his hand reaching out to touch the mutilated form. The face, when he finally saw it, made his blood run cold.
It was Stephanie.
A voice whispered in the wind, "The body, it's Stephanie. She knows about you." Michael spun around, but there was no one there. The voice spoke again, "You have to get rid of her..."
A scream echoed through the darkness, jolting Michael awake. He sat up, his forehead slick with sweat, a splitting headache throbbing in his temples. As he stood, his eyes locked onto his reflection in the mirror. A sly smirk spread across his face, and he chuckled low in his throat.
His bloodlust was growing stronger, and he knew there was no turning back now.
