After returning to the Owl House, all was quiet. Luz spent some time with Amity as well as Willow and Gus. But throughout the whole day, Luz couldn't get her mind off the mask. When night came and everyone else had fallen asleep, Luz was restless. She couldn't sleep as she thought of Darth Nihilus's mask. Despite knowing that there was something wrong about the mask, she simply couldn't stop thinking of it. Eventually, curiosity got the better of Luz as she snuck out of the Owl House in the middle of the night and makes her way to the trash heap where Darth Nihilus's mask was. As she rooted through the trash, she found nothing.

Luz: C'mon! It has to be here somewhere!

Eventually, Luz was able to find Darth Nihilus's mask. The mask had remained in the same spot, undisturbed. As Luz picks up the mask, the whispers she heard earlier became louder.

Luz: I...I can't just leave this here for Belos to find it!

It was in that moment that Luz decided to take Darth Nihilus's mask and take it back to the Owl House, despite Eda's warning not to. As she returns to the Owl House with the mask, she sneaks inside. As she sneaks back to her room, Hooty wakes up. Immediately, Hooty begins screaming,  sensing the dark presence of Darth Nihilus's mask.

Hooty: HOOT! HOOT! EVIL! EVIL!

Hooty's screams woke Eda and King as they sprang into action.

King: WHO DARES ATTACK THE DOMAIN OF THE KING OF DEMONS!

Eda: Hooty?! What the hell is going on?!

Hooty: EVIL! EVIL! EVIL HAS ENTERED THE OWL HOUSE! HOOT! HOOT! IT'S IN LUZ'S ROOM!

Eda: Luz!

Without hesitation, Eda and King ran for Luz's room, thinking she was in grave danger. When they entered Luz's room, they found no sign of danger. Instead, they found Luz.

Eda: Are you alright, kid?!

Luz: I'm...I'm fine, Eda. I heard Hooty screaming. What happened?

Eda: No idea. Hooty just started screaming about some evil in the Owl House.....

But before Eda could finish her sentence, she felt something was off. She looked at Luz who appeared very nervous. It didn't take long for Eda to sense a familiar dark presence.

Eda: Kid, that better not be what I think it is.

Luz: I uh....don't know what you're talking about.

Immediately, Eda could tell that Luz was hiding something. Luz didn't fool Eda one bit. She kept her eyes on Luz, waiting for something to give. As she did so, Luz's eyes glanced over to her bed. Without hesitation, Eda walked over to Luz's bed. She yanks the blanket off the bed and sees Darth Nihilus's mask. Upon seeing the mask, Eda backs away and turns to Luz. 

Eda: What are you doing, kid?! I thought I told you to leave that thing alone! 

Luz: I...I can't! It's in my brain! There's...there's something telling me that I have keep this mask from Belos and his Coven!

Eda: Listen to me, kid. You've got to get away from that thing! We don't know what it is or what it's capable of! For all we know, it could be some kind of parasite that just drains the life out of you! There's a darkness in that thing that I've never sensed before on a single object. That kind of darkness leaves a mark on you. Trust me, kid. I know. I've been down on that road and it's not pretty. 

As Eda says this, Luz once more glances at the mask of Darth Nihilus. Once more, she could hear the whispers echoing in her head. It was as if something was talking to her. Eda could see that something was wrong with Luz. 

Eda: All right, kid. Here's what's gonna happen. I'm going to take this mask and get rid of it. The sooner that thing is out of here and away from us the better. 

Luz remained silent as Eda took a deep breath. She looked upon the mask, clearly uneasy by the dark presence that lingered in the mask. She didn't want to touch the mask. She fear what might happen if she were to touch the mask. As she took a deep breath, she turned to King. 

Eda: King, give me some tongs. 

King then waddles to the kitchen and grabs a pair of tongs. He then hands it to Eda. Even with the tongs, Eda was still hesitant about going near the mask. Despite this, Eda knew that she had to get it out of the Owl House. She knew that the mask was starting to leave a mark on Luz and knew that leaving the mask here any longer would prove detrimental to Luz. After taking several deep breaths, Eda uses the tongs to pick up the mask. She then walks over to the trashcan and tosses it in. After that, she picks up the trashcan and tosses it out the window and over cliffs and into the ocean. 

Eda: Alright. Problem solved. Phew. Dodged a major bullet there. Well I'm tired. How about we get some sleep. 

With that, everyone went back to their beds. As Luz laid down on her bed, she continued to hear the whispers in her head. But after a moment, the whispers were silenced. Luz took a deep breath and fell asleep. However, this would not be the last time Luz would see the mask of Darth Nihilus, for the Lord of Hunger's spirit would not be forgotten so easily.
