Immortal - Part 29 - Tony x Howard x Reader

Tony got to his feet, as (Y/n) left the room. He wanted to follow after her, wanted to make sure that she was alright. It had been a lot for both of them to take in, listening to his dad talk about how he had made a mistake in sending her away. That even though Howard had his mother, there had not been a day that had gone by that he hadn't thought about the immortal. Tony having to admit that it felt as though he was intruding on an intimate moment. That perhaps he shouldn't have been by her side when she had watched the film; but he had been, and he had to confess that he could feel the jealousy grow inside of him, as he saw the reaction of the immortal to the sight of his father. How the man still had such a hold over her. The billionaire wanting nothing more than to run after her, take her in his arms and tell her that he was there for; that even though it had only been a short time of knowing one another, he already cared for her. Yet as much as everything wanted to forget about the film that his father had left for him and care for (Y/n) instead; a little voice told him to wait, to giver her some time. To allow her a few moments to breath and regain her composure: Tony reaching into the box and pulling out the second can of film, removing the old one from the protector and setting everything up, before flicking the switch. The usual numbers counting down, before his father appeared on the large white screen.

"Hello Tony.........."

"Hi, dad." Tony replied. Answering back just like (Y/n) had earlier.

"If you are watching this, it means that somehow, you and (Y/n) have found one another. That you made your way back to Nebraska; to that old little farmhouse that was surrounded by nothing but fields......." Howard continued. Falling silent for a moment and seeming to be steadying himself before he carried on.

"I want you to know, Tony, that I love your mother. That she is a wonderful woman, and I am so lucky to have found her. That, and I have always, will always do my best to never hurt her. She has given me the greatest gift that I could ever have asked for, in you. But I need you to know........" Tony knowing exactly what his father was going to say next; that it was going to be about (Y/n) and how much he had cared for her.

"(Y/n), she...........she was very special to me, Tony. Important, not only for how she worked with me and helped with Project Rebirth; but important to me, personally. I loved her, Tony; I........I still do, and have no doubt that I always will; but I don't want you to hate her because of that. To think that she took any love from your mother; it is just that she has a way about her. A way that I don't think she realises that she possesses. A way she has of holding your heart and making it impossible to ever forget about her. She is the most unique, the most wonderful person that I have ever been fortunate enough to meet; and I need you to do something for me, son. I need you to look after her for me......" Howard went on, before he got up from the table upon which he had been sitting.

"(Y/n) has lived more lifetimes that you can imagine. She has been more people, seen more places and done more things than you or I could ever dream of doing. She is stronger, and more powerful than she may appear, and I am sure that she will surprise you, the more that you get to know her. Yet despite how she may seem, as happy as she may act, there is a sadness behind all of it. A sadness that comes from watching everyone and everything that you have ever known or cared for, die, while you remain; and that is where you come in. In the box you will find not only the blueprints for a lot of the projects that (Y/n) and I worked on during our time together, that we were unable to make work because of the limitations in our technology at the time; but there is also my diary that contains some of the things Abraham and I talked about. Things that we came up with that could help (Y/n); that could take away her immortality but leave her with all her other abilities. Things that we could not work on, because he was killed. I want you to take that diary and use our notes to help her; to give her the life that I never could. Take care of her, for me, Tony; and don't make the mistake I did, of letting her go. She needs someone; someone that will love her. And if you are very lucky, that could be you........" Howard, giving a soft smile to the camera, before the screen went blank. The end of the film flipping around and around in the machine as Tony sat there and just stared at the screen; his father's words going around and around in his head. It as if his father was giving him permission to love her; to be what he had once been to the immortal. It sounding a very strange thing for a father to tell a son. Especially when he had said it, Tony had still just been a kid. But perhaps it just showed that his dad had known him far better than he had thought. That he knew that when he and (Y/n) met, he too would feel that pull to her; that he would understand what Howard had been speaking about when he had said that she had a way about her. Tony pushing the diary into his back pocket, as he got to his feet and made his way to the door. The billionaire determined to do what his father had asked; to look after the beautiful immortal and give her the life that she deserved and not make the same mistake Howard had. Tony looking to Steve and Bucky as he opened the door to the room; the captain pointing to the exterior of the building. Tony making his way over to the immortal, as he made his way outside; calling out her name as he moved closer. (Y/n) turning around and throwing herself into his arms. Tony holding her close, as he felt her tears wet his shirt.

"(Y/n)...........?"

"Just hold me please........hold me and don't let me go........."
