Immortal - Part 19 - Tony x Steve x Reader
Tony stormed into his workshop, grumbling and huffing under his breath, as he sat on a stool and picked up a glove, looking it over before beginning to fiddle with.......well, he didn't know what he was fiddling with. It was just something, something to take his mind off what he had just been told. It something to settle the anger he felt.........or was it anger? The glove being thrown across the room as he realised that he didn't know what was going on in his head. That for the first time in perhaps ever, Tony didn't know what to think. (Y/n), the most beautiful woman that he had ever seen in his life, was...........was an immortal. A woman that had been alive since before the time of written history. The billionaire feeling no need to doubt her; Tony believing that no one would say such a thing if it were not true. That, and he had heard things that were as equally crazy, before, that were also true. No, it was not that, that had sent his mind, sent his emotions reeling. It was the fact that she and his father had..........and Howard had asked her to marry him. Tony knowing that if Erskine hadn't been killed by Heinz Kruger; if his father hadn't felt the need to send (Y/n) away in order to protect her from Hydra, then he would never have been born. The billionaire not sure how to feel about that. How to feel about the woman that Howard had loved before his mother had even come onto the scene. How to feel about the fact that she still carried the ring that his father had given her.
He was annoyed at her for lying, for lying to him, the others.........to Rogers. He was annoyed that the captain had known that something was weird about (Y/n), before he had. But it wasn't just her.......it was Fury. Fury was the one that knew all about her; he was the one that had created her file. He had brought her into the compound knowing that she had a connection to not only him, but also Rogers. He had given her a cover story to stick to, leaving it to her to decide whether or not to tell them about what she really was. Tony having to think that perhaps it was better that she had told him when she did, rather than later on down the track, when his feelings for her..........oh hell, who was he trying to kid! He already had feelings for the damn woman. There was a connection that he had felt as soon as she had made her way into the room. Tony doing his best to shake the thought that that might have been the way that his father had felt too. That that connection might be deeper than he could ever imagine. But could he........should he........she had been Howard's lover, for goodness' sake. Tony never imagining that he and his dad would have those kind of feelings, for the same girl. The billionaire slowly getting up from his stool and making his way over to the glove, before picking it up; deciding that he should give himself some more time before he went to see (Y/n). Before he decided how he felt about all this.
>>-----------------------------------<<
Steve sat there. The air between the pair had fallen silent; (Y/n) beginning to feel that her confession to the captain, had gone about as well as it had with Tony. She had told him who and what she was. That she was in fact the woman in the picture. Steve just sitting there quietly, taking it all in.
"I am sorry, captain. It was wrong of me, wrong of both Fury and I to put you in this situation. But, believe me when I say I only went along with the cover story in order not to hurt you or Tony. I would never want that. You, both of you in your own ways, mean so much to me. Though I quickly came to realise that the longer I left it, the worse, the harder it would be when I did try and tell you who and what I was. And, with Tony finding that picture of me with Howard, and you........that blurry image at Camp Lehigh........I found myself feeling guilty for my lies. Guilty for pretending that I was someone else, for denying you that link. And I will never forgive myself for that; for........for sometimes, I would give anything for a connection to the past, and I tried to take that away from you........from myself. It was wrong............." The immortal continued. Hoping that the captain wouldn't walk out on her like Tony had. That she would be able to talk to him a little more, before Fury sent her agents to help her move back out of the compound.
"You have to stay." Steve suddenly said, as he looked up at her.
"I want you to tell me everything. Everything I don't know. Not just about Project Rebirth, not just about the times at Lehigh, but everything else. About what else you worked on with Howard, with Erskine. About what you did after Howard sent you away................" The captain continued, as he leant over and took her hands.
"But Tony.......I can't..........I have to leave. Its not right for me to stay after what happened. He didn't take the news as well as you seem to be doing. Howard and I.............."
"I'll speak to Stark. You can't leave now. You can teach us so much; show us so much. And Bucky........I known that he would like to have someone else that knew what the world used to be like........." Steve continued, the grip on her hands getting a little tighter. The captain getting that same look of determination that she had seen in the eyes of the slender, sickly young man, before the serum had done its job. She and Erskine talking about just that look on more than one occasion.
"I........we shall see. But, if you like, you can ask me whatever you like, now. I will tell you anything you want to know." The immortal told him. Letting out a relieved breath, as Steve smiled at her and sat back in his chair.
