Immortal - Part 18 - Fury x Steve x Tony x Reader
"As I told you, Captain, if you wish to know anything more about agent le Faye, you will have to speak to her directly............." Nick replied, as he moved from the window, and sat back down in his chair. Fury sitting back, and watching the man in front of him, whose brows were furrowed. It appearing that Steve was not only frustrated by his reply, but also annoyed.
When S.H.I.E.L.D had discovered the old diary of Abraham Erskine, all had been surprised at the mention, on several occasions, of a so-called "immortal" that was helping with his work on Project Rebirth. The woman, whom he never named, merely referring to her as "Eternity" whenever he made note of her, seemed to have been involved in all of the aspects of the project that had created Captain America; and that she, and Howard Stark, had been much more than just work colleagues, long before Rebirth had even started. Fury ensuring that further research was done, so that they could find the name of the woman. The director not about to leave anything to chance, as he had dug through the archives himself. Looking for the evidence he needed to prove to himself, that calling the woman an immortal, had not just been a joke on Erskine's behalf. So, given this strong connection to everyone involved with the project, to have the captain come calling to try and find out more about the visitor to the compound, was no surprise at all. Especially after he had already tried to talk to him once before. Fury not surprised either, that despite the years, and even though he had never really seen her, Steve still had the feeling that there was more to the woman, than was in the file.
"I have asked her. She told me the woman was her grandmother............."
"Well, there you have it, captain. Now if you don't............" Fury replied. Stopping midsentence, as Maria popped her head around the door.
"I'm sorry, director, Captain. But there is a call for you; and er.........the caller insists that you take it.............." Maria explained. It now Fury's turn to furrow his brows, before he picked up the phone. Holding up his hand for Steve to not leave, as the captain got up from his seat.
"Who............Oh, how can I help..........Yes.........yes I understand..............I'm sure he didn't............. Are you positive that this is what you want to do.............Yes, I am aware that it was part of the agreement............If you are sure about all that, I will have my people there in the morning to help you move out. Though perhaps I might be able to persuade you to use your talents in some other way............Captain Rogers? Yes he's with me.............Of course, I will send him back to see you now.............." Fury said, as he listened to the mystery person on the other end of the line. The director, looking at the old soldier, as he placed down the phone.
"It would appear that agent le Faye and Stark have had a.......... disagreement; and she believes that is would be best for her to leave the compound. But before she goes, she would like to talk to you. She says that there is something that you need to discuss............." Fury explained. It not unexpected, that the immortal had decided to tell Stark so soon after they had met, about what and who she really was; nor was it a shock to learn that the billionaire had taken the news as (Y/n) had described. Given what he had discovered about the relationship between the immortal and Howard, he had known that she could feel a connection to his son. That perhaps she might even come to care for Tony, as she had done his father. But perhaps he and (Y/n) had both fooled themselves that Stark would take the news better than he had. Perhaps they had hoped he would take the information that a woman that had not aged a single minute in countless millennia, had been his father's lover, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Yet it would appear that they had hoped too much, and Fury was well aware of the promises that he had made to the immortal. That he had sworn he would take her from the compound if she ever wanted to leave. So, he would have to live up to the promise, sooner than he would have liked.
"She's leaving..........?" Steve asked in disbelief. The captain also struggling to believe that (Y/n) and Tony had had a disagreement, a disagreement that was bad enough to make her want to leave the compound. That, and to not have the director tell a seemingly simple agent that she would be staying where she was, and that he would come and speak to Tony, himself, was also a little out of character.
"Yes..........So, I would suggest that you go and speak to her while you have a chance.............." Fury replied, watching as Steve quickly made his way to the door.
"And Rogers..........." The director called out, as Steve placed his hand on the doorhandle.
"Director...............?"
"Whatever she tells you, I hope that you will be more understanding than Stark seems to have been. And this wasn't all down to her............." Fury added, before turning his chair. Steve just giving a confused nod, before heading out of the door and back to the compound.
>>----------------------------------<<
(Y/n) looked around the now once again empty room. She had finished packing, before speaking to Fury, and at least it seemed as though he was going to do as he promised. The immortal just hoping that there would be somewhere else for her to go. She didn't want to leave, she had only just got there, and she had been looking forward to getting to know all of them better; but given the way Tony seemed to have taken her confession, she felt that it was the only thing to do. And it wasn't as if she could argue with his actions; in fact, she had to say that she might have preferred for him to shout and call her a liar, than just walk out in silence. But, there was nothing she could do now. The immortal having no desire to hurt Tony any more than she already seemed to have done. (Y/n) closing the door to the room and heading for the common room. The immortal just praying that she wouldn't upset Steve, as much as she had the billionaire. Her heart beating a little quicker, as she spied the captain making his way towards her.
"You wanted to speak to me agent............"
"(Y/n).......please. Just call me (Y/n). And yes, captain, I think that you and I need to speak. I have a few confessions I need to make, before you and I never see one another again." (Y/n) replied. Gesturing for Steve to join her in the room.
