Assassin - Part 9 - Scott x Reader
"Ok..........but why couldn't this wait until tomorrow.......?" (Y/n) asked harshly, as Nick told her that he wanted to see her; that he already had another target for her to deal with. Another target that would take her months to research, months to understand. Months to work out just the right way to dispose of the problem, without people realising that they had been a victim of the Avenger assassin.
"Yeah, well. I am out for the night, and I am staying out. Whoever it is, they aren't going anywhere, and you know I don't just rush into these things. That's why you use me. I will come to S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters first thing in the morning...........What.........? No! With all due respect director, I have a life, or at least I'm trying to have a life outside of doing your dirty work. And may I suggest that you get one too..........." The assassin continued, before hanging up.
Ok, she knew that she would hear all about this when she went to see Fury in the morning. That he would be sure to have a few words to say; but damn it, there was more to life than work, and Scott had been about to kiss her for god's sake. Scott..........had been about to kiss her; and Fury had ruined that moment. The assassin hoping that the intrusive call wouldn't ruin what was left of the evening. That she might get another chance to kiss the handsome goofball, before the night was out. Sure that even if she didn't, the next time that she saw Tony, he would definitely tease her about it. An exasperated chuckle leaving her lips, as she thought about the billionaire making kissy faces towards her behind Scott's back every chance he got.
Quickly, (Y/n) made her way back inside the bar; a smile spreading across her lips, as she saw her dream DILF sitting patiently at the table. He was so cute, so sweet. It might be a strange thing to call one of the Avengers, but that was what he was, that was what she saw him as; a cute, sweet, adorable goof, that she was sure could make her as happy as she wanted to make him. But if Fury kept on calling at the worst possible moments, it could ruin any chance that she had of getting a life outside of the job that they did. The assassin taking a deep breath and hoping for no further interruptions, before making her way over to the table.
>>------------------------------------<<
Scott had watched (Y/n) make her way outside, before going back to the table; whoever the call was from, they must be important. Scott just hoping that given the fact that his date hadn't appeared to be too happy about having to take the call meant that whoever it was, they weren't all that important. After all, it had taken him too long to work up the courage to get this far, so the last thing that he needed was any interference from another person. But what made the whole thing worse, was that he had been just about to kiss her. The girl of his dreams had been in his arms, and he had been about to kiss her. The former convict just praying that the call wouldn't mean that she, they, would have to make their way back to the compound. That they could enjoy what was left of the evening, and that he might just get another chance to kiss her.
"Sorry about that..........." A voice came, Scott looking up to see a smiling (Y/n).
"Do we have to go back..............?"
"What..........? Oh no, it was nothing like that. It wasn't Cap telling me that the world was gonna end and that he needed our help to stop it. No, it was just someone with the worst timing possible that thinks no one else has a life.........."
"So, it was Stark then..............." Scott chuckled, as (Y/n) took a seat next to him.
"No...........though it does sound a lot like Tony. Anyway, Stark knows that I would rewire all his suits if he ruined tonight. It was just something that could have waited until tomorrow, that I will deal with tomorrow. For now, I want to forget about it, and just enjoy what's left of the evening; and............perhaps pick up where we left off............." (Y/n) explained, as she leaned a little closer to him. Her heart fit to burst from her chest, as Scott placed his hand on her cheek. The electrical engineer just glad that the margaritas were still giving him some confidence.
"I'd like that." He replied. Scott moving until the tip of his nose brushed against hers.
"Oh, I'm so sorry............" A giggling woman said, as she bumped into the table, sending the Avenger's drinks falling into Scott's lap and then onto the floor. The man that she was with, apologising also, before he pulled her away and back to the others that they were with.
"Do you think someone has something against us............?" Scott sighed, as he wiped the spilled margarita from his jeans.
"Feels like it, doesn't it. And I swear that if it has anything to do with a dark haired, snotty god; then he will quickly find that whatever Hulk did to him, will be nothing compared to what I will do." (Y/n) replied, as she passed Scott some more napkins.
"Look...........I have an idea. Do you want to get out of here?" The assassin continued, as she got to her feet and offered Scott her hand.
"As long as I get to spend time with you, I'll go wherever and do whatever you want." The former Baskin-Robbins employee agreed, as he took her hand and let her help him to his feet.
"Well...........if you really mean that, Lang, this could be a very interesting night............" The assassin chuckled, as she led him from the bar and out into the late evening air.
