"Murder!"

Natasha glanced over at the idiot she decided to have as a friend, one eyebrow raised. "What?"

"The reason Fury called us in. It has something to do with murder."

"And why do you think that?"

"Well, y'know," Clint made vague hand gestures, "it's just a feeling."

Natasha crossed her legs, a sigh escaping her lips. That was a very Clint thing to say, and she wasn't sure why she was surprised by it.

The click of a door opening drew her attention. Fury stood in a now open doorway, his gaze as serious as ever. "Come on. We're in a bit of a rush."

Clint's face wrinkled inward. "What's going on?"

"Today, you are going to meet one of SHIELD's most mysterious agents."

Natasha took in a deep breath.

Clint spoke next, his voice a whisper.

"The Spirit Whisperer?"

Fury laughed. "We prefer to call him Agent Ghost Kid."

"Hey Clint, Nat!"

Natasha glanced up from her book, spotting Scott entering the room—one of many living spaces in Stark Tower. Clint paused his movie(Moana) and spoke. "Yeah?"

"I heard about a particularly elusive SHIELD agent. So elusive, he's known as a ghost." Scott wiggled his eyebrows as he spoke, continuing. "Would you two—as SHIELD agents—happen to know anything about a certain Spirit Whisperer?"

Clint snorted. "What, you mean Ghost Kid? Yeah, we've met him."

Scott's triumphant 'yes!' was cut off when Natasha spoke. "But," she said through gritted teeth, "we are NOT going to spill his secrets, right Clint?"

"Oh, ye- yeah. Not spilling secrets. My lips," Clint made a zipping motion, "sealed."

"Good."

"Oh come on!" Scott whined, "you can trust me!"

Natasha returned to her book, giving an eye roll. "I've never liked Fury when he was angry."

Scott paused. "That's fair," he said eventually, "Fury's scary even when he isn't furious."

Clint snorted. "Yeah, I'd hate to be on his bad side."

Scott laughed, then glanced at the TV. "Oo, what are we watching?"

"Moana."

"Make way, make way!," Scott sang, "Moana it's time you knew the Village of Motanui's all you need!"

Clint picked up where the other hero had left off, leaving Natasha to scoff and continue her reading.

Clint was great, and so were the rest of the team. But sometimes a bit of fresh air was required to deal with their... antics.

And hence, like many other times, Natasha was on a walk. She debated stopping at a coffee shop, but decided against it. She'd pick something up on the way back if she felt the need.

A quick burst of pain shot up her shoulder and she jerked into a fighting stance, her hands curling into fists.

"Ohmygod I'm so sorry, I—Nat?"

Natasha's shoulders sagged as she relaxed, realizing that she'd simply bumped into someone. Then her eyes widened and she tilted her head. "Peter?"

"It's been a while!" Peter said excitedly, "how are you?"

"Doing well. You?"

"Good!"

"I didn't realize you lived around here."

Peter shrugged. "I'm actually on my way to work right now. I got an internship at Stark Industries—awesome, right? I mostly just do coffee runs, but still!"

"You should be doing much more than coffee runs," Natasha scoffed.

"Eh, I'll take what I can get. I should get going though, don't wanna be late."

"I'll walk with you."

"Really?" Peter bounced on his toes, smile on his face, "awesome!"

"Y'know," Natasha said once they started walking, "Scott—Ant-Man, I assume you've heard of him?" Peter nodded. "He was asking about the Spirit Whisperer the other day."

"Oh really?" Peter hummed, "what was he asking about?"

"Just if Clint or I had met you," Natasha responded, "I cut Clint off before he could spill any secrets. For a spy, he's rather bad at keeping secrets." She paused. "Though I suppose he's only loose-lipped around his friends."

"Better than loose-lipped around his enemies," Peter quipped, "and oh look, we're here! It was nice to talk with you again!"

"Agreed. Wait," Natasha reached into her pocket and pulled out a pen and paper. She scribbled down her number and handed it to Peter. "Text me, we'll talk more often."

"Thanks! Talk to you later!"

Natasha nodded. "See you later."

She made her way to the penthouse and into the living room, her phone pinging in her pocket. She pulled it out with a smile.

???
Hi!!! It's Peter \>u</

"Ooo, does Nat have a girlfriend?"

Natasha raised her head to glare at Clint. "It's an old friend."

"Do I know them?"

"Yes," she said, sliding onto the sofa, "I'll have you know that it's a particular spirit whisperer."

"Agent Ghost Kid?"

Natasha hummed in response, ignoring Clint's cries of surprise.

Nat
