Green eyed monster - Part 3 - Scott x Reader

I was thinking about the best way to end this story, and then I heard Paul Rudd sing. Now, I'm not pretending that he's gonna win any awards, but he's not too bad. Sooooooo, I thought I would have Scott tell (Y/n) how he felt through song. I have included lyrics from 'Let it be Mine', by Brett Young. I hope that you enjoy.

Scott made his way through the crowd of partygoers. His eyes finally falling on the woman that he that he loved. His heart pounding violently in his chest, as he watched Steve and (Y/n) move around the dancefloor. They seemed so natural together. As if they had known one another forever. Their movements in this arena, as well coordinated and timed as their moves in the field. Each of them seeming to know the others next move before they even made it. But Scott had to think that that was one of the things that came from loving one another. That it was perfectly normal that Steve should know what (Y/n) would do, and what she liked. But he knew what (Y/n) would do, and what she liked too. He had watched her intently every time that they had been on a mission together. Scott taking in every subtle nuance and movement, as she had done what she did best. He knew what her favourite ice cream was. What topping she liked. That she liked her coffee as strong as Clint and Stark liked theirs. That she hated cockroaches and love soppy love songs, even though she would always deny it, despite how many times he had walked in on her listening to the music, and looking all dreamy and misty eyed, as some crooner had sung quietly. So, now, now he was going to be one of those crooners. He was going to tell her how much he loved her by singing one of her favourite songs. And if she could love him after hearing his voice, then he knew that she really did love him.

Straightening his suit, Scott made his way to the stage where the band were playing. He still wasn't sure that this was the best idea. But given all the terrible idea's that he had had in the past. Idea's that he had actually gone through with, this in comparison, wasn't the worst. Although he did wish that he had put his Ant Man outfit on under his suit. Scott sure that making a getaway from Steve and Bucky would be easier if he were tiny. But it was too late now, the band staring at him as he made his way out onto the stage. The crowd, including Steve and (Y/n), all turning, as the group suddenly stopped playing. The mass of guests, going quiet, as they watched Scott speak to the lead guitarist.

"What the hell do you think he's gonna do?" Clint almost whispered, as he and the rest of the team watched Scott make his way over to the microphone.

"I don't know. But whatever it is, I'm gonna make sure that F.R.I.D.A.Y records every last moment of it for posterity." Tony chuckled in reply. The billionaire shaking his head, as Scott blew into the microphone.

"Er.......one....two. Can everyone hear me?" Scott said. Cringing a little, as the microphone sent out an ear piercing screech.

"I er, I don't mean to ruin your party everyone, but...........but, well I have to tell someone something important, and I couldn't think of a better way of doing it. And I know that if I don't say it tonight, I may never say it. And even when I do say it, I will probably find myself in trouble. Cos I am sure that certain people won't like it, but............."

"Get on with it, Lang!" Tony called out. The billionaire not interested in the ex-con's ramblings.

"Oh, er, yeah, right. Anyway. I want to sing a song. I want to sing a song for someone special. For someone I have been in love with since she first walked into this very compound. And even though I'm sure that she will never feel the same about me, I have to do this. So, (Y/n), this is for you." Scott explained. All eyes turning to look at the wide eyed woman, that stood in the middle of the dancefloor. (Y/n) not sure what to think or feel, as Scott began to sing. A tear rolling slowly down her cheek, as she heard the opening bars of one of her favourite songs.

The look that haunts you

The eyes that caught you

The voice that stops you on a dime

Let it be mine

The hands that fit you

The song that gets you

The drink that makes you spill your mind

Let it be mine

Steve couldn't help but smile, as he watched (Y/n) stare up at Scott. She had the same look in her eyes as she always had when she spoke, or even thought about Lang. The old soldier not failing to notice that Scott seemed to have exactly the same look too, as he gazed past all the others in the room. His focus purely on (Y/n), as he sang the next lines.

If you need someone to call tonight

A place to crash and let your body fall tonight

If you're lookin' for a kiss to make it all alright

If you're gonna cross the line

If you're gonna take somebody's time

Let it be mine, let it be mine

(Y/n) grabbed for Steve's arm. The Avenger knowing that if she didn't do something to steady herself, then her knees would give way, and she would be nothing more than a puddle on the floor. Scott, the man that she loved, loved her too. He had loved her since they had first met. And now he was telling her that through a song. He was telling her what she had always hoped to hear. Always hoped that she could say to him but had never found the bravery to do so.

The dream that steals you

The touch that heals you

The kind of wild that drives you

Wild, even if it's just a little while

A home that needs you

Secret that keeps you

A book that reads between your lines

Let it be mine

Carefully, Steve moved (Y/n) forward. The crowd parting, as the two Avengers moved towards the stage. Steve could feel (Y/n) tremble. He was even sure that he could hear her heart beat over Scott's singing. And despite the fact that he knew that it would mean that (Y/n) wouldn't be able to spend as much time with him as she usually did, the old soldier wanted nothing more than for his little sister to be happy.

If you need someone to call tonight

A place to crash and let your body fall tonight

If you're lookin' for a kiss to make it all alright

If you're gonna cross the line

If you're gonna take somebody's time

Let it be mine, girl, let it be mine

Ooh, let it be mine

Scott looked down, as Steve brought (Y/n) to the front of the stage. He could see the tears in her eyes. He could see Steve smile, and Scott had to admit that he was slightly confused. He had thought that the captain would have run him off by now. That Barnes would be hot on his tail. Yet here he was, still singing, and Steve didn't seem to mind. Not that Scott was complaining. (Y/n) looked more beautiful at this moment than he was sure that she had ever done before. And he had come too far to stop now.

I don't know what tomorrow

You had in mind

But let it be mine, let it be mine

And I don't know what road you're

Gonna take this time

But let it be mine, ooh let it be mine

(Y/n) listened as Scott sang the last part of the song. She had never thought that someone would do something so romantic, just for her. She had never thought that of all people, the man that she was in love with, would do this for her. Yet here he was, the song having now ended, and everyone waiting to see what he would do next. (Y/n) unable to stop herself from pushing through the crowd so that she could make her way up onto the stage.

                                                     >>-------------------------------<<

Taking a deep breath, Scott looked around the still quiet, slightly stunned guests. Slowly moving away from the microphone. He had never planned on getting this far. Ok, to be honest, he hadn't planned anything at all, so what he was to do next, he wasn't quite sure. Yet as he turned around to see (Y/n), he knew that he had to think of something.

"Scott. I.................."

"(Y/n)! I know that you and Cap are together. That you love him, and at any moment I will probably get his shield in the back of my head. But, I love you, (Y/n). I have always loved you. And even if you don't love me back, I had to tell you. I had to............" Scott interrupted. His own words cut off, as (Y/n) crashed her lips into his. Scott's shock being replaced by the need to wrap his arms around her and pull her close.

"Oh, you silly bug." (Y/n) chuckled, as she finally removed her lips from his. Scott not sure what was to come next, as (Y/n) brushed her fingers through his hair.

"Of course, I love Steve. How could I not? He's like the brother that I never had. If it wasn't for Steve and Bucky, I don't think I'd still be here. But I'm not in love with him. I............I'm in love with you. I have been since I first saw you. You are the sweetest, silliest, most wonderful man that I have ever met. I just wish that I had had the courage to tell you all that, myself." (Y/n) explained.

"You.......you really mean......that, that Steve isn't.............that you love......." Scott spluttered, as he looked over at Steve. The captain, along with all the other Avengers nodding.

"Will you two lovebirds just kiss again, and then we can get this party restarted. I paid good money for all this." Tony called out with a chuckle. Deciding that it was high time that he got himself another drink.

"Well, you heard old iron breeches. Pucker up bug boy." (Y/n) laughed. Scott deciding that he was going to do this in style, dipping (Y/n) dramatically as their lips met once again. The green eyed monster inside him, instantly disappearing in a puff of smoke as he held her tight. Scott knowing that he would never have to be jealous again. And that from now on, he would leave the green monster thing, to Bruce.
