Hi guys! This was a prompt to write about the above picture. I got the prompt from the Young writers Facebook page, they post inspirational writing quotes and helpful tips, as well as contests and writing prompts, you should definitely follow them, they also have a Wattpadd page YoungWriters11. I was not able to get anyone to help me with a New York accent, so you will have to just do the accent in your head.

There it was, the puppy I had seen yesterday, except today he was whining at the end of the alley surrounded by three boys, I watched for a few seconds as the boys teased the poor thing, chasing him and pulling his tail. I didn't know what to do I didn't like to see them pick on the dog, but what could I do? Then they started poking the puppy with sticks and throwing rocks at him, that was too far, I walked forward till I was right behind the boys. I hesitated as I looked up at their big strong bodies, then I squeezed past to get in front of them.

"Stop it, leave him alone!" I screamed at them, the boys looked at me and started laughing, I was hardly bigger than the small dog and I was trying to stand up to them, the biggest boy pushed me down into the mud next to the puppy.

"Hey!" I heard a voice shout, I looked around the group and saw another boy, only a little bigger than me, standing at the end of the alley "that's no way to treat a lady!" He started toward us and at the same time another boy who was much taller rounded the corner and immediately follow his friend. By this time all the boys were staring at the newcomers.

"What are you gonna do about it punk?" Biggest boy spat, and shoved the small boy backward, the small boy was about to fight back but his friend grabbed his arm and said,

"Hey calm down, you guys think you're tough pick'n on puppies and little girls? Why don't you get lost and we can all go home in one peace."

"What's wrong, not up for a fight? You yellow or somethin?" The biggest boy taunted walking closer to the other two. The two new boys looked at each other then at the same time punched the big boy in the stomach, that started it, all the boys started punching and kicking and wrestling, I picked up the little puppy and scooted back out of the way. I don't know how long I sat there watching the boys beat each other up, but finally the three mean boys ran away. The two boys that were left walked over to me, the short one had a black eye, and the tall one a bloody lip, both of their knuckles were torn up. The taller boy reached out a hand and helped me out if the mud.

"You okay?" the short boy asked

"Yes, thank you for helping me"

"No problem. My name is Steve, and this is my pal Bucky." The tall boy waved

"My name is Jane."

"What a pretty name, we'd better be going, you know your way home alright?" Bucky asked me.

"Yeah, I know the way, thanks again for the help."

"Your welcome, see ya." both boys said together, then I stood there and watched Bucky and Steve walk away down the alley.
