Through darkness you stand alone
Another reupload from my ao3. I wrote back when NWH had just come out so it's not that good but I hope y'all enjoy
Tobey: Parker
Andrew: Pete
Tom: Peter
Peter Parker sat, in his Spider-Man suit, at his favorite place, the place he would go to just let go when he needed to, he thought of Aunt May. Would she be proud of him? Of his decisions, he was alone now. No one knew him. He deserved it, he knows it, but it was still so...lonely. Would Mr. Stark be proud of him? God, he wouldn't even remember him if he was still alive. But he's not alive...
Peter was torn out of his thoughts by a noise behind him, he was shocked to see, well, himself. The other two Peter Parker's from the other universes.
"Hey kid, knew you'd be here." The oldest one said.
Both of the older Spider-Man's walked over to Peter.
The oldest one (Tobey) was wearing normal clothes, a tee-shirt, and sweats, while the middle one (Andrew) was wearing a button-up with jeans.
"Did ya miss us?" The middle Peter Parker asked.
The youngest Peter looked at the two, "what are you guys doing here? And Peter..uh...Pete...Parker? Whatever, how's your injury after getting, you know, stabbed." He asked, directing the last part to the oldest of the 3.
He got a chuckle in response, "I'm alright, still sore but nothing I can't handle."
The middle one looked between the two, "alright, we need nicknames for each other. This is going to get way too confusing." He said.
The oldest one chuckled once more, "Just call me Parker."
The middle one smiled, "alright, Pete for me, it's what my father called me before he...left." He trailed off at the end and Parker patted him on the back sympathetically.
They both turned to the youngest, "can I just be Peter? Please."
Pete smiled understandingly, "of course kid." He walked over and sat next to Peter, Parker sitting on Peter's other side.
"I see why you love this place so much, you picked a good spot kid," Parker said softly.
Pete hummed in agreement.
The 3 watched in a comfortable silence as they watched the sunset.
Finally, Pete turned towards the youngest, "cmon kid, take off the mask, you don't have to hide from us."
Peter turned his head towards Pete, then Parker, then, ever so slowly, removed his mask.
Seeing the kid's face for the first time in a while Parker felt his heart sink, this kid, literal child, he's only what? 17? Had lost everything. He was a mess. He just looked so...lost. His hair was messy, huge bags under his eyes, his eyes were brimmed with red, cheeks stained with blotchy tear stains, and his eyes filled with so much pain.
Pete gave him a small, understanding smile, "Did I ever tell you what happened with Gwen?"
Peter shook his head, looking up at his friend.
Pete continued, tears filling his eyes as he spoke, "While you two have MJ, I had Gwen. She was amazing and smart and beautiful, and...the love of my life." He smiled as he said that, letting a few tears slip. Parker saw and walked over to him, resting a hand on his shoulder as Pete continued once more, "I couldn't catch her." He chuckled dryly.
Peter's face fell as he knew exactly was he was talking about, "Oh my god...I am so sorry, you...you saved MJ! You...I didn't even thank you for that, my god I-"
Pete interrupted him with a sad smile, "It's ok, kid. Really. I...I fell into a very dark place after that, I didn't want you to go through that pain."
It was Parker who spoke next, "How'd you get better?"
Pete smiled and looked at his friend, "Aunt May, she saved me, still, does I suppose, I wouldn't be the man I am today without her."
Peter, instead of getting angry or jealous about Pete still having his Aunt May around, smiled at his friend. "She really is amazing isn't she."
All three Spider-Men nodded.
Pete cleared his throat and looked at Peter, "I wanna hear more about that purple alien dude you fought!"
Parker joined in, smiling at both of the younger versions of himself, "Ya I wanna know how the hell you fought him in space!"
Peter smiled a real smile and told them both everything. About the avengers, about Tony, about the blip and how half of the people on earth disappeared for 5 years, him included, he told them about Thanos, and of course, he told them about Mr. Stark's sacrifice.
And by the end, he just felt...lighter. It was hard to explain, just being able to explain everything to people who he knew would understand and just listen, was nice.
And then they had to leave.
"Thank you guys, so much." He whispered as he hugged them both tightly.
Parker smiled as he looked at Pete, who was on Peter's other side hugging him, Pete met his gaze, both feeling an equal amount of protectiveness for the youngest Spider-Man, they made a silent promise, that they'd protect and take care of him, they were all he had.
Parker gave him one last pat on the back and stepped back. Pete doing the same.
"We'll be back," Parker promised.
Peter smiled and nodded.
A portal appeared and Pete walked through back to his universe, he threw a peace sign up at his friends as he walked.
"Love you, Pete!" Parker called out.
Peter smiled, "Ya love you!"
They heard Pete chuckle before the portal closed behind him, and they heard a faint, "Love you guys!" And then he was gone.
Peter turned to Parker, "Thank you again, Parker, truly. I needed this."
Parker smiled at him, "Don't mention it, kid. See you around."
And with that, he was gone as well.
But both of them kept their promise. And they checked up on him often. Sometimes just Pete, or just Parker, but most of the time it was all of them, which were the most fun days.
So yes, maybe the whole world forgot about Peter, and sometimes yes, there were times where he still felt as though he was all alone until Pete would come knocking on his window and smiling, with Parker next to him smirking, "C'mon Webhead, let's get out of here." He said.
And they'd all get in their suits and swing around the city.
So yes, Peter's life had changed drastically, but he wasn't alone. He had a family.
He felt free.
Please leave requests! Love you guys.
