Ever since Bucky escaped from HYDRA, he never thought he deserved anything, especially not you. You were a wonderful person, and he couldn't imagine his life without you. You both loved each other very much, and you wanted to show Bucky that you weren't the only one.
Today, Steve and Tony were going to a mall in New York for Avengers Day, a day set up by the local government to thank the Avengers for saving the world numerous times. Although it became a controversial topic over the next few years after the day was announced, they still held it for the thousands of people who wanted to thank the Avengers for everything they had done. Steve and Tony were going to speak to thousands of fans in the mall today, and you knew exactly how you could show Bucky that the world cared about him.

"Buck?" You smiled,"Can you get dressed? I want to take you somewhere."

"I'm wearing clothes, aren't I?" He smirked as he got up from his seat.

You sighed, picking up his cereal bowl and putting it in the sink, "Get out of your pyjamas and put some proper clothes on. You could wear that shirt I bought you last week."

"Fine. But wherever we're going better be worth it."

"We're going to the mall to see Steve and Tony talk to all the people."

"Seriously? Is this just another excuse to go shopping?"

"No, trust me. But maybe we'll sneak in a bit of shopping while we're there."

You called Steve just to make sure that everything was going alright. When the call ended, Bucky had finished getting changed.

"Who was that?" He asked, running a hand through his hair.

"Just Steve."

Bucky raised an eyebrow, "He's not just Steve, you know."

You laughed, "I know. He's Captain America."

"He's going to be my best man some day," Bucky smiled, planting a kiss on your forehead as he pulled you in for a hug, "And you know what you're going to be."

He paused for a moment and he watched a grin spread across your face as you looked down at the shiny ring on your finger, "You are going to be Mrs (Y/N) Barnes. Finally."

"It's getting close. One more month," you grabbed Bucky's hand and got into the car. Half an hour later, you'd both arrived at the mall and you could see people packed from one end to the other. They all wanted to see Captain America and the 'invincible' Iron Man. You and Bucky walked over side stage and met up with the two heroes that had become your close friends over the years.

"You're finally here. I thought it'd be Christmas by the time the two of you got out of the house," Tony walked through the curtain, and was met by a roar of screams from the crowd.

"Come on, Buck. I'm sure they'd love to see you too," Steve grinned, placing his hand on Bucky's shoulder.

"I don't think so. After everything HYDRA put in my head, I don't think anyone would want to associate with me," Bucky's smile turned into a frown.

"Buck, most of that stuff has been gone ever since we took you out of cryo," Steve stated.

"If no one wanted to associate with you, then why would we be getting married?" You added.

"Because you understand me. You both do. How could anybody else know what I've been through?"

"Whether or not they do understand, they care. Just go out there and see. You'll be surprised," Steve smiled, pulling the curtain back for Bucky.

"I'm only going out there if (Y/N) comes with me."

You looked over at Bucky, and took your hand in his. Giving it a squeeze, you both walked out onto the stage and another wave of screams erupted from the crowd as Steve and Bucky walked out. You scanned the scene. There were heaps of people dressed up as Iron Man and Captain America. Then you saw something that you knew Bucky had noticed. He squeezed your hand as he saw a little girl dressed up as him. Out of the countless people dressed as him, he took note of her first. You saw him smiling out of the corner of your eye and you knew that he realised that people did look up to him, that he was a hero to some people. He was a hero to this little girl. When Steve and Tony were finished talking to the public, they went on their way back to the Avengers Facility. You and Bucky remained at the mall for some time, and you noticed that little girl staring at Bucky with a huge grin on her face.

"Buck," you smiled, gesturing your head towards the young girl, "I think someone wants to say hi."

He looked at you and you could see his eyes light up.

"Hi," he smiled, crouching down to face the girl, "You look great."

"Thank you," she said shyly.

"What's your name?" Bucky asked.

"Molly."

"That's a pretty name," Bucky smiled, squeezing your hand.

"How old are you?" You asked.

"I'm f-five."

"I think you look like a better Winter Soldier than this goofball here," you laughed, pointing at Bucky with your thumb. The little girl laughed and gave Bucky a hug before hugging you.

"It was very nice to meet you, Molly," Bucky grinned as he stood back up with you.

She looked up at him with her big, blue eyes, "You're my hero."

On your way to the car, a boy with a prosthetic arm was walking towards you and Bucky. Before you could say anything, Bucky held out his metal hand to give the boy a high five, which the boy gladly accepted.

"Thank you," Bucky smiled as he placed his hands on your shoulders as you reached the car.

"It was nothing," you grinned embracing your Bucky into a bear hug.

"I mean it. Thank you so much, for everything. I love you so much, (Y/N)."

"I love you too, Buck."
