Bucky Barnes- I Don't Dance (Part 3)
I love this gif too much...
Part Three
Bucky stood motionless, staring at the huge television before him, clueless about how he was going to practice a two-person dance on his own. This caused him to run his hands through his hair in frustration, ruining the neat, combed-back look he was going for earlier.
"What am I going to do?" He whispered to himself, sighing. As if on cue, Steve walked in, making Bucky jump back in surprise and immediately turn off the tv that was playing Dirty Dancing.
"Buck?" Steve questioned in suspicion, "What's going on?"
Bucky's wide eyes softened as he saw Steve, a wave of relief washing over him, "Oh, it's just you."
"Gee, thanks."
"No, I-I thought you were (Y/N) and I almost had a heart attack."
"Why? Don't tell me you're planning on proposing to her already. You haven't even been on a proper date yet," Steve smirked jokingly.
Bucky let out a groan, "No. This is going to sound so stupid, but I was trying to learn the dance she went to practice."
"Typical," Steve shook his head, "You're always trying to impress the ladies."
"The only girl I want to impress is out doing what she loves with someone else," Bucky said with a frown.
"So that's what this is about. You're jealous. James Buchanan Barnes is jealous."
"Can you stop making it seem so stupid?"
Steve smiled at his best friend, "All joking aside, listen to me. You don't need to impress her. She's already head over heels for you, I can guarantee it. She's almost as far gone for you as you are for her,"
"How can you be so sure? I've never felt this way about anyone before in my life. Don't you get it?" Bucky took a deep breath, "I love her."
Steve was shocked, no words escaped him.
"Yeah, I said it," Bucky growled, his cheeks tinting red. All of a sudden, Steve unfroze and grabbed the TV remote, ejecting the DVD from the player and popping it gently back into it's case. Bucky furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
"Nat showed me a thing or two about learning new things," Steve smiled as he connected the TV to the Internet, opening up YouTube, "She said you can find anything on here, so all you gotta do is search."
After a few hours practicing, Bucky had pretty much got all the moves memorised in his head, and his feet. There was only one move left that he was yet to perfect— the lift.
"Steve, we've tried this three times and every time I drop you. You're a lot heavier than you look."
"Well suck it up, Buck. I'm the only partner you've got. Do you want to practice with Sam?"
"Hell no! I'd rather practice with a cockroach."
"I think that speaks for itself," Steve grinned before taking his place a few metres from Bucky.
"One last time," Bucky sighed.
Suddenly, Steve began running up to Bucky, jumping as he waited for Bucky to catch him. As Bucky gripped his hands around Steve's torso, the two came crashing down.
"Eugh," Steve spat, "Get your hair out of my mouth. How much gel did you put in it?"
"As much as I needed to," Bucky groaned, sitting up and running his hand through his hair in frustration.
"Oh my, this is perfect," a new voice entered the room— Natasha's.
"Nat!?" Steve panicked, "Please don't tell me you got that on camera."
"Ok, I'm not going to tell you."
"Please delete the photo," Bucky pleaded.
"Photo? Who said anything about a photo?" Natasha smirked, shoving her phone into her jacket pocket.
"You got that on video!?" This time it was Bucky's turn to panic.
"You bet."
"Whatever you do, don't show it to (Y/N)."
"Aww," Natasha cooed, "There's no way I'm not showing her this. It's gold."
"Natasha, please," Bucky continued, "I'm begging you."
Natasha sighed, "Fine."
"Thank you."
"But you can't stop me from showing it at your wedding," Natasha spun around and started on her way back to the common room, leaving Bucky a blushing mess.
"Why do you all want us to get married so badly?" Bucky smiled involuntarily, trying not to make his face go any redder.
"Because you love each other," Steve said, looking directly at his friend, "Isn't that why you're doing this in the first place?"
"Hmm," Bucky sighed, still smiling, "Yeah."

It was Christmas Eve, and the night of your big performance. Nerves were starting to kick in as you went backstage to put on your dress and do your hair and makeup. All of your Avenger friends had come along to watch, and that meant Bucky. That made you even more nervous. You had all but finished applying your mascara when your dance coach walked into the room, a frown on her face.
"I'm sorry, (Y/N)," she said apologetically, "I just got a call from the hospital. Your partner broke his leg, he can't make it."
Your head snapped away from the mirror as you turned to face her, "W-what?" You said, trying your best not to cry.
"I'm sorry. It's a real shame; you look so lovely. Hey, is there anyone you know that might know the moves?" Your coach chuckled, "You know, someone who's watched the movie on repeat every day of their life?"
You laughed back, "I don't think so. I'll go ask around, but I don't think so."
"Alright. Let me know if you find anyone."
Fighting back tears, you popped the cap back onto the mascara, checking your reflection one last time before making your way out towards the crowd gathering in the hall. You grabbed your dress and lifted it, making your way through the crowd as soon as you saw your people.
"Hey!" Everyone greeted enthusiastically as you approached them, Tony throwing an arm around you.
"Hey," you smiled, less enthusiastically.
"What's wrong?" Steve asked, placing a hand on your shoulder.
"My partner got hurt. I can't do the dance unless I find someone else who knows the steps."
Steve and Natasha gasped as they turned to look at each other.
"What?" You asked, a little confused at their reactions.
"Where the hell is Barnes?" Natasha asked, searching the room for Bucky.
"Bucky?"
"He kinda told us not to tell you..." Steve scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
"He's been practicing the whole dance. With Steve," Natasha admitted.
You frowned, "I don't believe you."
Natasha quickly rummaged in her pocket and pulled out her phone, a smile on her face as the Avengers crowded around, eyes locked on the screen as a video began to play. You watched in awe as you saw Bucky and Steve practicing the dance, laughing at the giant goofballs as they fell over each other.
"Eugh. Get your hair out of my mouth. How much gel did you put in it?"
Everyone laughed as they watched the video, Steve blushing madly.
"Wow," you let out a deep breath, looking up at Steve, "I can't believe you did that for me."
"It was all Bucky's idea. He got jealous when he saw you practicing with your partner a few days ago."
"What? Jealous? I didn't see him there."
"He was watching you through the window."
"He's got a massive crush on you," Natasha added, watching as your face tinted pink.
Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight shone above the dance floor, I Had The Time Of My Life began playing quietly through the speakers.
"It's no use if he's not here," you frowned.
"Aren't I?"
You spun around as soon as you heard Bucky's voice, a smile taking over the frown immediately, "Bucky!" You leapt into his strong arms, pulling him into a bear hug.
"I can't believe you thought I'd miss your big night," he said, clicking his tongue.
"I can't believe you learnt the dance," you grinned from ear to ear, looking up at Bucky.
"Come on, doll. We've got to get on the dance floor."
Bucky took your hand as you both made your way onto the dance floor, contagious smiles on your faces. The music became louder, and you were counting down to your cue.
"Are you sure you know this?" You asked one last time.
"Stop asking," Bucky rolled his eyes, "I'd never dare to let you down."
As your cue began, you started swaying to the beat of the music, Bucky pulling you in close, his metal arm resting on the small of your back. Your eyes were locked the entire time, yours burning into his bright blue ones. You had never been so close to Bucky, and you wanted nothing more than to stay there forever.
Soon, the beat began to pick up, and the two of you began to really dance. The two of you bopped energetically, keeping in time with the music, which was followed by Bucky twirling you around. Your hips swayed energetically, your feet bubbling along with the upbeat melody. You had never been more attracted to Bucky than you were now, watching as he expertly carried out the dance moves he had learnt just for you. You both continually smiled at each other, and you knew what was coming next— the lift. You had no idea if Bucky could pull it off, but you didn't doubt him for long.
You ran towards Bucky, leaping into the air. He grabbed you by the waist, holding you high above his head as the crowd erupted into cheers and applause. You caught a glimpse of Steve, Natasha and the others, cheering happily as the song ended. You and Bucky walked to the middle of the dance floor, hand in hand, completely out of breath, and took a bow. You had never been happier in your entire life.
As another song began to play and everyone else started dancing with their partners, you turned to face Bucky.
"You were incredi-"
You were cut off by Bucky crashing his lips into yours, and you could feel him smiling as you closed your eyes.
Suddenly, you both pulled away breathlessly as Steve and the others appeared, cheering when they saw the kiss.
"Finally!" Natasha exclaimed, pushing her phone back into her pocket.
"You took a photo, didn't you?" Bucky said, knowing full well what Natasha was doing with her phone.
"Yep," Natasha answered, "Another one for the wedding slideshow."
"Oh gosh," you smiled, your face turning pink as you looked up at Bucky who's face was doing the same. Soon, the others left and began to dance, leaving you and Bucky alone.
"Back to where we were before you interrupted me," you grinned, "You were incredible. I thought James Buchanan Barnes didn't dance."
Bucky looked at you with his eyes twinkling in the light as a smirk formed on his lips, "I changed my mind when I saw how much you loved it. Plus, I said didn't, not couldn't."
You simply rolled your eyes and continued to dance the night away.
