Nutty Newlyweds (Clint X Reader)

"Are you ready yet?" Clint asks, leaning against the side of the truck. You let out a groan, shoving the last box into the cab.

"I think we got everything." You say, slamming the door shut and hopping into the passenger seat.

"Finally. I thought we wanted to leave by noon. It's 3 already." He says, getting in the driver's side. He starts the truck, then slowly pulls forward, pulling the smaller speedboat behind him. He had bought it for the two of you as a wedding gift from him.

You have never been one for nature. Well, surviving in nature. Camping, fishing, and hunting have never been anything of interest to you. They've always been pushed aside by you for someone else. Unfortunately, that someone else was Clint and when he first heard you had never done any of the three above, he vowed to you that you would get the whole experience.

So instead of going somewhere like Mexico or Europe for a fancy honeymoon, you're traveling a few hours to the closest lake to go camping. It's original, you have to give him that.

"So, I'm not going to regret letting you plan this, right?" You tease. You kick off your shoes and curl up on your seat.

"Of course not. I've got this all under control." He smiles. He grabs your hand and gives it a kiss. "We're gonna have a blast, babe."

"Clint, I don't think you know what you're doing." You say, watching him struggle to set up the tent. It had almost been a half hour of trying and he still refused to look at the instructions.

"Not helping, (Y/N)." He calls out from under the tent.

"Why don't we just look at the instructions?" You ask, plopping in the dry grass beside him.

He pokes his head out from the red tent. "Don't you trust me?"

"It's not that I don't trust you, it's that my patience is running out." You say. You grab the instructions and begin reading them. You chose not to say anything out loud, but he has gotten it completely wrong.

He lets out a sighs, catching your attention. "Alright, where did I mess up?" He asks, holding the poles in his hands.

"Step one." You smile, looking down at the instructions. He crawls over, looking at the small booklet in your hands.

"Geez. Why didn't you tell me?" He teases with a grin. "You just let me screw this whole thing up without a word. Can't believe you." He tsks, shaking his head as he starts over.

"Sorry. I thought you had this under control. You're the one who's the camping expert." You play along, laying down and stretching in the grass. You close your eyes, bathing in the sun.

"Great. Now my cover's been blown. You know my deepest secret." He says, laying down beside you. He pulls you close, his face in your hair. He takes a deep breath with a smile.

"What is this deep secret I've uncovered?" You ask, looking into his blue eyes.

"That I'm only an expert in archery." He chuckles.

"Is that so, Hawkeye?" You laugh as he places his lips to yours. You cup his face as he runs his hands through your hair. You deepen the kiss, rolling over to straddle him.

He pulls away, his eyes locked on you. "Okay, maybe not only in archery." He says, his strong hands holding tightly onto your waist.

"And what would be the other thing?" You ask, leaning close to his face, able to feel his breath. You rest your hands on his chest for balance.

"Loving you." He chuckles as you smash your lips to his again. You melt into him, unable to control yourself. He pulls you down against him, rolling you over again.

You peacefully sway in your hammock. Clint's making you food over the campfire and the sun is low in the sky. You decide to stay out of his way while he finishes setting up camp by reading a book.

Just as the book begins to finally gets good, you flail to the ground. You let out a groan, the air rushing out of your chest. You flip over onto your back, seeing Clint holding his gut in laughter. "Clint!" You shout, glaring at him.

"Oh, that was so good. You weren't expecting that at all." He laughs, his face slightly turning red. You pout, trying to catch your breath.

"That wasn't funny." You say, mad at him.

"Oh, come on. I'm sorry." He says, reaching out to you.

"Don't say it if you don't mean it." You frown, swatting away his hand.

"Okay, okay. I'm not sorry for knocking you out of the hammock, but I am sorry for knocking the breath out of you." He apologizes, keeping his hand out to you. You take it and let him help you up.

"You're a jerk." You huff.

"I know. I'm sorry, babe." He says, pulling out close to him. He kisses your cheek, unfortunately bringing a soft smile to your face. "Still love me?" He asks.

"Always." You chuckle, resting your head on his shoulder.

"This is our bed?" You ask, looking into the tent. There was a small lantern in the corner and blankets and pillows sprawled on the hard ground. You were expecting there to at least be an air mattress for the both of you to sleep on.

"Hey, don't judge it till you sleep in it." He says, pushing past you and into the tent. He jumps onto the ground, slightly groaning as he forces a smile. "See? It's nice."

"My back is going to kill me in the morning." You sigh, crawling into the tent. You zip it shut to help keep the annoying bugs out.

Before you can turn around, he grabs your waist and pulls you over to him. "Clint!" You exclaim.

"What? You were taking too long." He says, pulling you into his lap.

"I was closing the door." You say, throwing your (H/C) locks over your shoulder.

"Right. We don't want anyone seeking a peek tonight." He teases as he rests his chin on your open shoulder.

"You're so gross." You chuckle, shaking your head.

He just smiles, closing his eyes as he holds you close. You reach over and grab your book. You flip it open, trying to get back to where you were. Hopefully, Clint wouldn't interrupt you again.

"Whatcha reading?" He whispers in your ear.

"Nothing special. A book I found at the library and decided to give a shot." You say, not looking up from your place.

"Is it good?"

"Yeah. It's pretty good." You say. He's quiet again, tucking your hair behind your ear. You can feel him reading it over your shoulder. You pause a little longer than usual before flipping the page, making sure he had a chance to finish.

After a couple of pages, you feel him breathing deeper than before. His grip on you relaxes and you feel his head resting against you. You chuckle to yourself. Clint was never one for reading, so it was no surprise he was passed out.

Once you finish the chapter, you close your book. You try to toss it away from you without waking him up, but you fail. He slightly jumps, looking around. "What time is it?" He grumbles, rubbing his eyes.

"Time to get some sleep." You say, turning off the lantern. You snuggle deep under the blankets as he pulls you close to him.

"Goodnight." He says, his arm wrapped around your waist.

"Goodnight."

"These fish are stupid." You shout, reeling in your line. The sun was high in the sky and you could feel your skin burning. You had already applied two coats of sunscreen to prevent getting sunburnt.

"You just gotta be patient, (Y/N)." Clint says, relaxing into the driver's seat. You two spent about 15 minutes trying to get the boat into the water so he could take you out on the lake. Right now, it was seeming like a worthless effort.

"I am being patient. The fish just aren't biting." You glare as the line comes out of the water.

He reaches over, grabbing the rod from your hands. "Well, something was biting, babe. You're missing your bait." He says. You look away as he stabs another worm on the hook. The whole thing grosses you out.

He casts the line for you again then hands it back to you. "If I don't catch any fish today I'm gonna be really disappointed." You say as you slouch in your seat staring out at the water.

"You and me both." He sighs, lowering his hat over his face. He places his hands behind his head, looking like he was going to fall asleep.

"Shouldn't you be watching your line?" You ask before he falls into a deep slumber. Clint was known for falling asleep anywhere. It wouldn't surprise you if he was already asleep.

"Watching the line is like watching water boil. If you do, it seems like it'll never happen." He says. You let out small huff and roll your eyes. Patience has never been your thing.

You watch the pelicans floating just a few feet away from your boat. Since Clint didn't seem to be in the talking mood, you decide to put your energy somewhere else.

You jump, hearing something clang. You look behind you, seeing Clint's rod leaning towards the water. You look out, seeing the bobber underwater. You swat Clint, waking him with a start.

Before he has time to yell, you point out at the lake. "You got something." You say. He immediately grabs the rob and slowly pulls it in. When it finally reaches the boat, it's a small fish.

"Look at this beaut." He exclaims with a grin, holding it up for you.

"Wow. She's a big one." You tease. He flashes you a hurt face then unhooks it from his line.

"Why don't you hold it?" He says, tossing it into your lap.

You scream, pushing it off of you. "Clint!" You shout, pulling your feet onto your seat as it flops around on the ground.

"It's just a little fish, babe. No need to freak out." He grins, grabbing it off the ground. He puts it to your face. "Come on, give it a kiss."

"Clint, stop." You say, pinching your eyes and turning your face away from it.

"It won't hurt ya. Why are you so scared?" He says, still holding it near you.

"Get it away, Clint." You say, pushing on his hands.

"Okay, okay." He agrees. You open your eyes, watching him gently slip it back into the water.

"You're an asshole." You say as he laughs.

"And you're a baby." He fires back with a grin. He reaches out, wiping his hands on your face. You gasp as it happens. He laughs, pointing at your face.

You stand up and shove him overboard. He treads to the surface, shaking the water from his head. "Consider that payback." You smirk, leaning over the side of the boat.

"Okay. I guess I deserve that." He says. He holds out his hand. "Help me up?" He asks. You grab his hand and help to pull him back into the boat. "Still love me?" He asks as he pulls in you for a tight hug.

"Clint!" You laugh as he holds up you. He's soaking wet, getting you wet as well.

"Answer me or I'll throw you out." He grins as he holds you over the side of the boat.

"Yes! Yes, I love you!" You exclaim. He pulls you back in and smashes his lips to yours.

A loud clang forces you to push him away. "Fish!" You shout. You rush to your rod, adrenaline rushing through you as you quickly reel it in.

"Hey, hey. Slow down. You'll set it loose." He says, grabbing your hands. He slows you down and helps to reel it in. You pull it up from the water, showcasing the largest fish you had even seen.

"I did it!" You cheer, a grin widening on your face.

"Way to go, babe!" He exclaims, pulling the fish to be over the boat. He unhooks it then gently slips it into a cooler. He grabs your shoulders and pulls you in for a quick kiss. "I'm so proud!"

You can only giggle in excitement. You had actually caught a fish. Not only that, but it was large enough to keep for the two of you to bring home and eat. "I actually caught a fish."

"See? Going camping and fishing wasn't such a terrible idea for our honeymoon." He chuckles, slightly shaking your shoulder.

You sigh, looking into his blue eyes. "Oh, shut up and kiss me again."

"Don't have to tell me twice."
