Stranger Things (All Avengers + Loki and Dr. Strange)

Hey guys!! So I was really excited for this one shot, and it was so fun to write. And NO, it's not Stranger Things the show!! Promise! Anyways, thanks!!

Today's Quote: "You're the Spiderman, from YouTube!" -Ned

"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Ned asked nervously, as Peter sifted through Strange's desk.

"Yes, I'm one hundred percent sure, promise!"

Ned began to nervously tug at Peter's t-shirt, looking from him to the clock and back again. "P-Peter, they'll be back soon! We could get in so much trouble!"

"Don't remind me Ned! Besides, this was your idea."

"But I didn't think you'd actually take it seriously!"

"Just shut up ok?"

Ned released his grasp on Peter and decided to look around to try and calm himself. He didn't know much personal stuff about the Avengers, and this was his first time here. Peter had previously asked Mr. Stark if he could invite Ned over, just to show him around a bit. Stark agreed, before he stupidly left with the entire team for some meeting, leaving two teenage kids in a virtually unsupervised facility with weapons practically laying around.

They were currently in Dr. Strange's quarters. From what Peter had told him, Strange didn't spend much time here, so his wing was 'smaller' than the others.

If this room was small, Ned couldn't even imagine what the others' rooms might look like. The place was massive in his opinion, with old bookshelves lining the perimeter of the room, filled with ancient spell books and stuff. There were also a lot of antiques and paintings around, which Ned found rather creepy. There was a old wood coat rack by the entryway, and a faded flannel rug on the floor. The walls were a dark maroon, all around, never changing. In the very center of the room, was a grand wood desk with one of those old lamps atop it. There must have been at least twenty drawers or so, which, if Peter had been eavesdropping correctly, held the most powerful spell books.

Lastly, there were two smaller doors in a more secluded area of the room, tucked in the back corner. Ned assumed that they led to a bedroom and bathroom. The clock chimed again. "Peter! We only have five minutes before-"

"Relax! I think I'm on to something . . . aha! There we go! I found it!" Now you'd think that drawers with such powerful spell books would be locked away and safe out of reach from mischievous teens, but no.  It had been fairly easy to get in here anyway, after they had managed to hack into F.R.I.D.A.Y long enough to make her unlock the lots of security doors and things just to get into Strange's chambers. But they had managed; and it's not like they were here to do anything too bad. Sure, they were still technically breaking the rules, but nothing too drastic. Still, they didn't have a lot of time, which made Ned nervous.

Peter pulled out a rather old looking book, all brown and crusty around the edges, it looked on the verge of falling to pieces.  Dusting it off, the friends opened it carefully, flipping the pages until they came across the one they were looking for. "This is the right page right?" Peter questioned.

"Yeah. Here's the paper." Ned pulled out the little slip of paper from earlier, in which Ned and Peter had written down the page number for this spell after getting some help from the God of Mischief.

Because of his trickish ways, Loki was more than willing to lend the boys a little magic to find the spell they were looking for, making their job a lot easier. Peter hadn't been worried that the God might turn them in, as Loki was not one to spoil a good joke. Ned however, wasn't so sure. Maybe he was just nervous . . .

"Okay, so it says all we have to do is . . . oh . . . this is in Latin . . . yuck," Peter sighed annoyingly.

Ned glanced nervously at the clock, ignoring Pete's remark. "Peter, they're going to be back soon! Just forget it!"

Peter swatted Ned away as he tried to grab the book. "C'mon Ned, this was your idea! Now just help me out. There's got to be a way to translate this somehow-"

He was cut off by an accented voice from the corner. "There most certainly is." The sly silhouette of Loki emerged from the corner of the room, startling the boys with his glowing green eyes. "But you'll be needing me for that, children."

"Loki! What are you doing here?" Peter asked, not sounding the slightest bit worried. We're crazy, we'll get caught.

"Not with me you won't," Loki smirked at Ned. His jaw fell open. Did he just . . .

"Read your mind? Perhaps. Just another little trick up my sleeve. It deems very useful at times." He walked over to the desk, brushing his fingers briefly over the pages of the spellbook. "Ah this spell. I granted you my magic but didn't know you'd find this one."

"Yeah, when we found it with the magic, it was in english but now it's not and we don't remember it word for word so . . ."

"You'll need my help to translate it," Loki finished. The god clapped his hands together. "Not a problem. I'm willing to help a few beings pull off a trick for once. Besides, it will be most amusing to observe."

Ned gulped. He wasn't so sure about this anymore. Soon after that nervous thought, Loki chuckled. Stop doing that. Another chuckle.

"Not one for mischief are you, mortal?" Ned shook his head slightly.  STOP DOING THAT.

"It's not that. I'm just . . . I don't want to get kicked out for doing this. There's still things I want to see and . . ."

"Relax Ned! They'll get over it!" Peter said confidently. "Besides, with Loki here to cover our tracks, it'll be fine."

"See, the man of spiders is correct. I'm the God of Mischief and Lies, I think you'll be well on your way by the time this is carried out. No one will know it was you."

"Yes but they'll know someone did it, and if I recall you're not the only one with magic."

"Ned, just chill out, okay? If you don't want to do this, then just leave and you'll be fine," Peter said calmly.

Ned grunted in frustration. He wanted to stick around to see this, for sure. It would be hilarious either way, but still. He wasn't sure he wanted to take the punishment. However, he didn't want to disappoint his friend, so he stuck around for now.

He watched as Loki translated the words off the page, into the spell they had recognized earlier. Peter wrote away on a sheet of notebook paper that had been stuffed in his left pocket as Loki rattled off the words.

"Alright now, you wanted to do this, you'll be the one to cast the spell," Loki said to Peter. "It's a beginners level even though it can be powerful. All you must do is copy the hand movements as they appear on the page, and say the words."

"I don't have to say them in Latin?"

"No; they will work no matter the language, as long as they're said flawlessly." Something in Loki's eye twinkled, something mischievous that Ned didn't like as Peter started to read.

Ned listened with a sort of nervous excitement. This spell could be powerful if you said it a certain way, but they weren't going for a dimension-altering prank. It was simple - have Mr. Stark and Steve Rogers swap bodies for the day - and it would be absolutely insanely hilarious.

The words seemed to glow off the spellbook as Parker pressed forward, the ink almost seeming to seal together in an inexplicable way.

Loki smirked as Peter finished the spell and brought his hands back to his side. Instantly, the faint glowing evaporated and the book went back to normal, lying still on the wood. There was a pause, where Loki looked as if he was stifling a laugh, and the two friends exchanged glances, Ned's more anxious then Peter's.

"So . . ." Ned decided to break the uncomfortable silence. "Did it work or . . ."

The god leaned casually on the desk with a smile spread across his face. "Oh, it worked all right. And just in time. Our friends should be arriving right about now."

Just on cue, a loud scream of confusion could be heard from the floor below them. Ned instantly shook with slight anxiety. Oh no . . .

Peter burst into laughter as him and Loki sprinted for the door to leave Strange's chambers. Ned reluctantly followed, not too sure of what they would find when they got downstairs. As soon as they stepped through the elevators, it looked as if all hell had broken loose. The floor below Strange was an open lounge area, where the Avengers usually all resided after an outing. And sure enough, here they all were - with the exception of Hawkeye and Strange . . .

Peter couldn't contain himself as he was almost falling over in laughter. Thor was laughing thunderously,  Black Widow was running around the room chasing something with Captain Rogers on her tail, Dr. Banner was sitting on one of the couches looking very confused, Scarlet Witch next to him, but Hawkeye was nowhere in sight. But then Ned noticed something -

Tony wasn't distressed like he had switched bodies . . .  he certainly hadn't 'changed'; he had a bottle of scotch in one hand and his other was rested on his knee as he laughed. Steve seemed rather normal, aside from the running around and all.

So nothing was out of the ordinary with them, like the spell should have changed . . .

"You jerk!" Ned yelled at Loki, who was leaning up against a post with his arms crossed watching the scene unfold. "What did you do?!"

Loki shrugged, his lips in a thin line. "As I said, I'm the God of Lies and Mischief. You really think I would pass up such a great opportunity to play a little trick?"

Peter suddenly stopped laughing as he came to stand by Ned. "Wait . . . what did you do . . .?"

Loki laughed softly. "Revenge my young mortals. Your wizard friend made me very angry a while back, and I was simply returning the favor. And as for your Hawk-eyed friend," he paused to chuckle. "He and I have had quite the history together. Just thought I'd toy around with him, it's fun to see him angered. Also, seeing as you children wanted to pull a sweet little joke, it was the perfect opportunity for a cover-up."

"But how . . ." Peter started.

"Simple; the 'spell' I had 'translated' was indeed the one you had chosen, but I threw off a few words so it wouldn't work, as every word in the spell needs to be flawlessly said. While you were reading off my little trick, I was busy casting my own spell. One that has caused all of this very amusing chaos."

"That's horrible," Ned snapped.

The God shrugged again. "It's logic, my dear one. And trickery at its finest."

"But what did you actually d-" Peter was cut off as he was knocked swiftly to the floor by someone who disappeared to fast to recognize. Ned was next seeing as he was standing close to Pete, and was shoved by a much smaller person, who may have been giving chase to the other. Ned didn't fall all the way down, and caught his balance as he pulled his friend to his feet to try and watch what was happening.

When they finally caught sight of the moving people, it was so hard not to burst out laughing. Running all over the place, was a tiny-looking Dr. Strange and Clint, who had been running away from kid Strange. Black Widow was chasing hastily after them, Steve close behind, as the rest of the team either sat in laughter or sheer confusion.

It was hard to hear over Thor's laughing, but Ned thought kid-Stephen was saying something like "HAWKIE HAWKIE HAWKIE! I WANT TO PWAY! PWAY WITH MEEEEE!" At that point, Ned couldn't contain his laughter and he erupted into a full-on laughing fit. Pete followed soon after.

The two of them paced slowly over to the couches, their steps criss-crossed due to all the laughing, making it near impossible to walk straight. Kid-Strange was still in his normal 'wizard' outfit, the Cloak of Levitation actually helping him in his pursuit of poor Clint.

They couldn't run forever, and Clint initially slowed down just enough for kid-Strange to catch up and tackle him, the cloak dragging Clint all the way down as they now almost wrestled on the floor.

Widow got there next, trying desperatley to stop Clint from breaking the kid's jaw or worse. Steve joined in and tried to seperate the two, wrapping his strong arms around Stephen's tiny waist. However, the cloak immediately wrapped itself around Steve's biceps and pulled the opposite direction, strong enough that the super-soldier couldn't shake Strange off of Clint. The air was filled with laughter, curse words, and the sound of kid-Strange giggling.

While this happened, Ned was able to calm his laugher enough to ask Wanda, Scarlet Witch, what was going on.

"I don't really know," she started. "We all walked in together - Strange was with us - and then he was just . . . a kid and was obsessed with Clint, and started chasing him and Clint ran . . . and ran . . . and now here we are." Ned nodded slowly, wiping away the tears that had formed in the corners of his eyes from laughing.

Peter was still laughing so hard that he occasionally snorted, and Ned had to put a hand over his own mouth in order to bite back his laugh again.

~

By the time they had finally separated the two, it was about an hour later, and Natasha and Rogers were rather worn out and, well, slightly injured from the kicking and punching of the predicament. Stark had allowed Peter and Ned to stay into nightfall, as the team was still laughing and joking around about earlier. Well, all except for Clint, who was in a really pissy mood and just kept rolling his eyes and raising his voice to snap at Tony whenever he made a joke.

Strange was er . . . well . . .

. . . he was in a crib that Pepper had ran out to buy as soon as they had the child under control, although they weren't too sure how long that would last, because no one exactly knew if kid-Strange still had his powers in his younger state. If he did, they were all pretty much screwed.

Ned had given in and confessed all that had happened - hacking F.R.I.D.A.Y, breaking into Strange's quarters - but the team didn't seem all that mad, and they didn't take it as hard as they would've if earlier hadn't happened. Clint however, wasn't happy by any means with what the teens had done and claimed that 'none of this would've happened if it weren't for you two,' but after the boys had explained about Loki being behind it, Clint nearly had to be restrained. And by restrained, they felt the sudden need to put him in shackles. He was fuming

Which brought Ned back to another thing - Loki. Ned had sought out the green-eyed god after things had calmed down, but to no avail; he had practically vanished. Ned and Peter both agreed that they felt guilty for trying to trick them in the first place, but then Thor had jumped in saying that Loki would've done something like this anyway sooner or later.

Anyhow, they were now all sitting back in that same lounge, trying to discuss what to do.

"We could try and reverse the spell. Maybe there's something in one of his spellbooks we can use," Steve pointed out.

"Maybe, but even then we wouldn't even know where to start looking. And Strange isn't exactly in the state of sharing where he keeps his 'reverse the child curse' spellbooks," Widow added.

"Well we better do SOMETHING. Before that demonic child IS BACK IN MY PRESENCE. I WILL STRANGLE HIM AND BEAT THE LIFE OUT OF LOKI!" Clint roared.

"Calm down Barton," Tony shot back with a snort. "If anything, it was hilarious. That, my dear friends, made my day." Clint lunged for Tony without a hesitation and it took almost the entire team to restrain him.

Ned sighed. He knew this would happen. He wanted to do everything he could to help, but he had a feeling he couldn't do much without consulting or at least speaking to Loki first, and none of them knew where he had vanished to.

After a few more minutes of discussion, Peter had suddenly tugged on Ned's arm and asked to speak to him for a moment. The two excused themselves and went to stand in one of the hallways. Once they were out of sight, Ned questioned his friend. "What is it? Why couldn't you say it in front of the group?"

Pete didn't say anything as his body slowly started to - glow? His body shifted from its normal state, causing for a very unnatural and rather disturbing look, until finally it revealed . . .

"Don't look so surprised Ned, I thought everyone knew of this little skill of mine. I wasn't aware you weren't as bright as the others. You're very easy to fool," he smirked down at the teen.

"Come on Loki, this isn't funny. Strange is being a pain and we really just want him back to normal. What if he's like that forever? That'd be awful to do to someone!"

Loki frowned. "You underestimate me. Your friend won't be like that forever; only for thirty days."

"Thirty days?! Why thirty days?!"

Loki paused while he stared off into the distance with a look of disgust on his face. "That number is very . . . significant, when it comes to me and that wizard."

"Well is there any way to cure it?!"

"Yes of course. I'm not evil child, not anymore, so of course there's a way to reverse it. But that's for you and the rest of the team to find out. Until then, it's not my concern."

"What! That's not fair! You have to tell us!"

He shook his head back and forth. "No I most certainly don't. What would be the fun in that?"

"Loki, you've had your fun. But please just change him back, the rest of the team can't take it much longer. Clint is very pissed with you as well, so if you would just do us all a favor and make things easy."

"Child, when has anything ever been easy? There's always a reason to everything I do, but it's not my job to find that reasoning. Now, it's your job. Your turn to be smart, solve the problem, and all will return to normal."

Ned sighed heavily. Well, if Loki wouldn't do it himself, then Ned was going to have to. "Fine," he agreed. "But don't think I'll like you for it later."

He chuckled. "I don't care what you think of me, mortal. I'm simply just having some fun. There's no harm in that, now is there? Why, you've done a very similar thing, if I recall. You wanted to cast your own spell on the Avengers not all that long ago. It's all fun and games isn't it?"

Ned looked to the ground. Loki had him there, it was his idea to mess around in the first place. "It's all fun and games until the joke is no longer funny," he replied. "And we were going to reverse the spell on Mr. Stark and Captain Rogers from the start, just after we had a good laugh."

Loki shrugged. "Well, your decision not mine. I'll see you when you figure it out. Oh, and by the way, your friend is fine, he should actually be returning from the restroom now."

"But he wasn't in the bathroom . . ."

Loki rolled his eyes. "Illusions. Nine realms, are you dumb. Anyhow, ta'ta." Then he vanished from thin air. A little shocked and very angered, Ned turned on his feet and headed back to the lounge, getting there just before Pete arrived so no one would raise any questions. This is going to be fun, he thought. Whatever. I wanted a game, and now I've got one.
