Special Reader Oneshot - Loki'd

 Y/N = Your Name

E/C=Eye Color

Y/E/N = Your ex's Name

"This may come as a surprise to you, but you are most definitely not the center of my universe!" you cried angrily at your soon-to-be ex boyfriend.

"Fine!" he shouted back with equal vigor. "Have it your way then, Y/N! I'm fine without you!"

"Well so am I!" And with that, you turned swiftly on your feet and stormed out of the coffee shop, leaving a bunch of shocked customers and on-lookers in your wake. That jerk. How dare he think he can take advantage of me! With your heart swelling in anger and frustration, you waved a cab over and practically blew up his eardrums in your request to head back to the Avengers facility.

The whole way there, you kept internally scolding yourself for allowing you to get so close to such an idiot. You should've seen it coming. You and Y/E/N had only been together for four months, but even then it had seemed too long. You knew what you had signed up for the second that man stepped into your life, but you never would have expected to get this riled up about it. God, that man made you so angry. All he did was make things worse, so you really hadn't a clue why you had even agreed to be in any sort of relationship with him. Y/E/N, I hope you have a miserable life.

You stared out the window in slight boredom as the cab driver turned onto the private street to get to the facility. You'd have to be dropped off soon anyway, as regular drivers and cabs weren't allowed past a certain point.

You'd been with the Avengers for just about three years now, given just how skilled you were at being a spy. And plus, you're parents had both been agents at SHIELD. On your 21st birthday, you had been sworn in as a spy/assassin, and sent to work with the Avengers as part of the team. You and Natasha got along the best, for obvious reasons. You actually spoke fluent Russian and Latin, which was cool for when you two wanted to tease around the boys without them knowing what you were saying.

You allowed yourself to crack a smile in your angered state as the cabbie drew to a stop in front of the first of three gates to get to the facility (I'm making this up, i dont actually know how their security works). You tossed the driver the money and then some, telling him to keep the change. He thanked you promptly, before hitting the gas pedal and disappearing back down the road.

Your blood was still boiling as you approached the first gate keeper, scrambling through your bag to find your wallet and pull out your agent identification card. You showed the blonde man the card and he let you through after scanning it twice. You hopped onto the sidewalk and through the gate for people, as there was one for cars to pass through as well.

You hissed annoyingly as the hot summer sun beat down on your pale skin, probably already searing it, as you were very sensitive. Yeah, just go right on ahead and make my day even more miserable. Stupid sun.

You barley even slowed down at the next gate, nearly tossing the card at the woman and snatching it from her as soon as she had swiped it. The last gate had those metal detector things you would find in airports, along with a few armed agents heavily layered in protective bullet-proof armor. You took in a breath in attempt to calm yourself, from your frustration towards Y/E/N, but you knew it would take more than a few breathes to calm down.

You took your purse from over your shoulder and tossed it onto the conveyor belt, while handing an agent security guard, who had the name "Garlan" sewn onto his vest, kindly commanded you to walk through that metal detector thing. Soon after you had to walk into this other tunnel thing that scanned you even better than the metal detector, as SHIELD had very strict protocol when it came to security.

You hastily collected your items, desperately wanting to get back to your quarters and lock yourself in your room to watch Stranger Things for the fortieth time over. After you had finally managed to drag yourself past all the security and into the Avengers quarters, you almost immediately heard Tony's voice come over the intercom.

"Y/N, we need you down in the lab, we have a, ermm, situation."

You cursed under your breath at Tony, not wanting to do anything but lie down and hide under your blankets to prevent yourself from going insane. "Tony. Now is NOT the time!"

"Sorry Y/N, but we do need you . . ."

"WHAT FOR?! TONY IF THIS IS ONE OF YOUR STUPID JOKES I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL PERSONALLY BLOW UP YOUR IRON MAN SUITS AND DROP KICK YOU OFF MOUNT EVEREST."

There was a slight pause before a soft coughing-laughing could be heard behind the speakers. Is he actually kidding me right now?! IS HE ACTUALLY LAUGHING AT ME?! THAT LITTLE SON OF A-

"No Y/N, we actually need you. Charlotte is acting up again and is demanding to see you." Charlotte was the 4-year-old daughter of Tony and Pepper, and was royally obsessed with you. Which was fine, you loved children. But Charlotte, had the same brat-like personality as her dad, with the same charm as her mother, making for a deadly combination. So, it wasn't always a party when you were around her. But, seeing as this might shut Tony up for a while so you could try to relax later in peace, you calmed your seething mind enough to shuffle to the elevator and go down to the lab.

Calm down, Y/N. You're letting him get under your skin. He's in the past now, you never have to see his ugly face again.

The elevator dinged as the doors slid open to reveal the massive underground lab, also known as Tony and Bruce's main hang out. As soon as you stepped off that elevator, the whiny screams of Charlotte Lera Stark filled your ears and you were forced to roll your eyes in annoyance. It was bad enough that you had already had a sucky day, but this. This just made it even worse.

You rounded the table and saw a circle of people comprising of most of the Avengers, with the exception of Bucky, Vision, Peter, Wanda, and Natasha. Great, Nat isn't even here. Sigh. You angrily trudged over to the group of people. Clint was wearing a smirk as he tried to stifle a laugh, as was Steve, surprisingly. Thor, of course, was dying of laughter, as his deep thundering voice ricocheted off the walls and added to the shrill cries of little junior Stark.

"WHAT IS IT?!" you hissed, and almost instantly everyone fell silent, including Charlotte. Tony was in the middle of the circle, standing next to his daughter who was sitting on the floor like a drama queen (which she was), her deep brown eyes red and puffy from tears.

Tony laughed almost nervously as he made his way too you. "Thank god you're here, she just wouldn't stop crying after Bruce and I took away a tube of mercury that she had gotten ahold of. Now we can't shut her up."

"Well then. Where's Pepper? She usually always can get her to stop. Why didn't you call her instead of me?"

"Because you're the only one that was here at the time. Pep's out with Natasha and Wanda." You both paused as Char's face lit up at the sight of you. "Speaking of which," he continued. "Someone's in a bad mood. Must be that time again, huh?"

You swore you would have punched him through the roof right then and there. "If you must know, I just broke up with Y/E/N LIKE A HALF AN HOUR AGO, okay, I'm allowed to be angry!"

"I'm sorry Y/N." It was Steve. Who were you kidding, of course it was. Steve was probably the only other Avenger that you considered a 'close friend' aside from Natasha. Well, there was one other person . . .

"It's fine. He was a jerk anyway," you interrupted yourself.

The room was still silent as Stark put his hands up innocently. "Fine. Okay, I'm just sayin you were a little moody, that's all. Now please, help us deal with this mess." For god's sake she's YOUR FREAKING DAUGHTER Stark!

You scowled and crossed your arms impatiently over your chest as Charlotte grinned happily and put her hands up to her face and squished her cheeks so her lips stuck out forwards. "Y/N! Y/N Y/N Y/N Y/N!"

"What?" you snarled. She looked at you slightly hurt, before she stood up and came charging at you, wrapping her arms around both your legs. She's just a kid, give her a break. Besides, you like children.

"I waited for you! I wanted to see you all days!"

"Yeah I'm sure you did," you said dryly.

"Daddy and Uncle Bruce is being mean! They tooks away my toy!"

"Mercury isn't a toy," Bruce joined in quietly. "You could've been hurt."

"I no care!" she whined, using that same high pitch voice as Tony did. God, she gets more like him every day. "You guys is always might be getting hurt every day but yous still are fine!" She walked away from you as you almost snorted in laughter.

She 'hmphed' as she turned her back and faced the desk. "There is only one thing that would cheer me up little bit."

"And what might that be?" you asked plainly, sounding relatively uninterested.

"If yous told me why you and Loki isn't together and all kissy-kissy yet."

Your jaw flew open in shock as the entire team burst into thunderous laughter, Tony struggling to stand, causing him to grab hold of the desk Charlotte had been facing. Even Steve was laughing like an idiot, which didn't help. Clint and Bruce were clinging to each other's shoulders like they were each other's lifeline as their faces all reddened from too much laughter.

You couldn't control the blush that shot like a wave across your pale white skin. You were so embarrassed. Somehow, though, deep down inside you found it kind of funny that a toddler would say something like that, and it was kind of hard to be mad at. If you had to admit it to yourself, you were maybe crushing on Loki . . . okay, you did have a huge crush on him. You two just got along so well for some reason, and he was probably one of your closest friends. Plus, he was gorgeous, even though that's irrelevant. But you were 100% sure the feelings weren't shared. At least not from his end.

"BY THE NINE REALMS THAT WAS HILARIOUS! GOOD THINKING MAN OF IRON! AND WELL DONE, LITTLE MAIDEN OF IRON! I DIDN'T THINK YOU'D SAY IT! I THINK NOW IT'S SAFE TO SAY THAT DEAREST Y/N HAS BEEN . . . LOKI'D!" Thor thundered between laughter, snapping you instantly from your thoughts. At that point, you almost exploded. You hadn't even noticed the fact that Charlotte had been giggling along to, or the fact that she had high-fived her dad.

They.

Had.

Planned.

This?!

Anger came washing back over you, ten times worse than it had been earlier with Y/E/N. Your hands balled into fists as the blush on your face turned to a scarlet shade of shear anger. You. Were. Pissed. You couldn't hold your anger any longer. You didn't care if that little brat was in here or not.

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?! THAT IS SUCH A CRUDE JOKE TO PLAY ON SOMEONE! AND EVEN AFTER I TOLD YOU I WAS HAVING A SUCKY DAY?! REALLY?! I THOUGHT THIS DAY COULDN'T GET ANY WORSE, BUT HERE WE ARE! DAMN ALL OF YOU! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU! AND CHARLOTTE! YOU ARE NEVER, EVER GETTING ME TO TALK TO YOUR BRATTY LITTLE FACE EVER AGAIN, YOU SNEAKY LITTLE DIVA! (Sorry, i don't like to curse in my oneshots. sorry) I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS! I REALLY CAN'T! THIS is just too awful!" you started to trail off as tears threatened your E/C eyes. You were so angry and humiliated, mostly because you had been wondering the same question yourself. Perhaps the reason you were dating such douche bags was because you wanted excuses so you could avoid telling Loki your feelings. You didn't want to ruin your friendship, as it was one of the most important things to you.

The laughter in the room slowed to small snickers here and there, but Tony was still heavily laughing, and was finding it hard to form words in between his outbursts. "Yeah-T-Thor you . . . AHAHAH . . . were not supposed to . . . to tell . . . eha, her!"

You had it. You stepped forward as fast as a bullet, and punched Tony dead in the nose as hard as you possibly could. He was down in an instant as the room erupted into laughter again. From the looks of it, he was knocked out cold from the force of your blow, and blood started to flow freely from his nose. You were surprised you hadn't broken it, which was actually what you had intended to do. Your moment of triumph only lasted so long, as the rest of the gang was pointing fingers at you laughing hysterically, little Charlotte joining in by rolling on the floor in a giggling fit.

"You jerks!" you half snarled half whimpered. This was so stupid. They were so stupid. Just all of it, was stupid. You shouldn't have let this bother you as much as it was. At this point it wasn't even about the fact that you had just broken up, or the fact that they had bothered to tease you like this, rubbing you in all the wrong spots. Now you were upset. Just, upset.

You swiveled on your feet and made a mad dash for the elevator, your head in your hands as you started to blush again hearing the echoing laughter of the Avengers behind you.

And then, your worst nightmare came true.

As the elevator opened, you charged in not bothering to look up as you soon slammed into someone. You heard them grunt as you removed your hand from your face to lowly apologize, only to find concerned green eyes staring back down at you. OH MY GOD THIS DAY CAN'T POSSIBLY GET ANY WORSE.

"Whoa, hey there Dove. Watch where you're going," he laughed slightly. Your heart sank.

"L-Loki, h-hey hi there," you stuttered, not long after mentally cursing yourself for acting like an idiot in front of him. It would just make him question you more. But you couldn't help it. You were such a mess right now, and for all the wrong reasons. The others had barely even said anything to upset you, and yet here you were, making a fool of yourself in front of the one man that you had not wanted to see in this moment. They had pushed all the wrong buttons, and now you were a wreck.

"Dove, what's wrong?" Loki asked sweetly as he righted you from leaning up against him.

"Hey . . . umm . . . nothing I j-just . . . I'm fine," you finally managed, plastering a fake smile on your scarlet face.

"You most certainly are not fine. This is not the Y/N I know. Real Y/N wouldn't look so . . . shattered and humiliated. What have the others done to you?"

He knew. God dammit he knew. You took a deep breath, wanting this sentence to sound a lot more confident. "They haven't done anything Loki they've just . . . said something to me at the wrong time and it's really upsetting. They got under my skin when I shouldn't have let them."

Loki dragged you back into the elevator softly before clicking the button and hitting the very top floor of the base. You looked at him, slightly confused. "Loki, the top floor is for meetings only. Why would we need to go there now?"

"No reason at all," he replied. "I just want you to explain exactly what happened." You gulped. You could never build the confidence to tell what had happened. Heck, you were surprised you'd made it this far. Because if you told him, then you'd have to explain your true feelings for him and you just . . . couldn't. You knew you wouldn't be able to bring yourself to do that, and it was killing you. You had never, ever felt so lost in your entire life.

"Y/N," Loki said, snapping you from you panicked daze. "Speak to me now. We only have a few floors left before I'll have to use my magic to keep this elevator stuck."

A slight tremor went through your body. Okay, don't panic. You can do this. You don't have to tell him the whole story. Just leave gaps that you'll cover with extra syllables and useless words. Just leave out the part about him. You stole another breath and stared long and hard at the ground, trying to find the best way to make your explanation long without revealing what had actually occurred. "Look . . . Loki. Earlier today I broke it off with Y/E/N, and I was really mad for letting myself get close to him, because he was a total jerk and I should've seen it coming from the start. So I was already having a bad day. When I arrived back here Tony instantly called me downstairs to 'help' with Charlotte who was 'acting up' again. I agreed only because once I was done with her I could hide away in my room and binge Stranger Things. Anyway, when I got down there she had actually been crying, but apparently it was all a set up to get me to come down to the lab with all the others so they could get Charlotte to say something to get under my skin and piss me off, which it did, so."

For a horrible second there was an awkward pause, and you decided to let your mind wander to the fact that this was one hell of a long elevator ride, and how you were positive Loki had used his magic by now. Loki broke the silence with a low chuckle, sending a shiver to run down your spine. "Dearest, that was a trick you should've seen coming. I thought I've taught you," he said jokingly.

You cracked a smile but still refused to meet his gaze. There was a shorter pause before he said, "what did they say Y/N, to get you so angered? Tell me and I will personally go back there and shrink them all into tiny elves for messing with my dove."

You giggled. You giggled. GIGGLED. You never giggle. Darn it Y/N, stick to the conversation. "That's very thoughtful, but I . . . umm, don't want to say."

Your friend stepped forward and wrapped his strong arms around your waist, bringing you in for a tight . . . friendly . . . hug. Your heart twisted again. "You can tell me anything, dearest. I will never judge," he whispered in your ear. Yes you will, your mind said sadly. Just like they did. It will ruin whatever we have.

"No, Loki. I just . . . I can't. I'm sorry. Maybe I'll tell you someday, when I have the confidence to. The point is, they said something so small that shouldn't have touched me in the way it did, but I'll be okay. It's not like my feelings matter anyway," you replied into his shoulder, twining his raven locks around your fingers.

Loki switched positions so that you were nuzzled into his neck and his head was rested upon your own, as he traced lazy circles into your back. A silent tear slipped from your eyes only to be met by Loki's soft fingers. "Your feelings will always matter to me," he hummed into your scalp. Butterflies started to flutter around in your stomach.

"Well . . . they shouldn't," you said, immediately regretting it. Don't say that, stupid! You want him to care . . . your heart swelled sadly. You want him to return the feelings . . .

"Please," he said back instantly. "Don't ever say that. You're one of the best and only best friends I've had. It's my job for you to matter to me. It's my job for me to care. It's my job for me to help you." Those darn butterflies beat their dumb wings even faster.

You have to tell him.

Whether he returns the feelings or not, you have to. You're friends, you have to be honest with him. Even if it ruins your friendship, at least it's honesty.

"Loki . . . I need to tell you-"

"I know," he interrupted.

"W-what?"

"I said, I know."

You had this horrible feeling in your stomach, that was almost fearful. "K-know w-what?"

He broke your embrace and pulled you so you were standing squarely face-to-face in front of him. His hands rested on your shoulders and your eyes locked. "I know you have feelings for me, Y/N."

You felt as though you might burst. Is this really happening?! IS IT?! "N-no . . . I . . ."

He chuckled softly and smiled. "It's okay, dove. Really, it is."

Despite what you should have been feeling - scared, concerned as to how the hell he had found out - you felt happy, and joyful, for some reason that you couldn't begin to explain. "H-how did you . . . how did you know . . .?" you asked, your voice shaking so much it was hard to understand you.

He leaned in closer to you, so you were inches apart. You froze, not daring to move. "I have my ways," he whispered. You could feel his hot breath on your face, sending waves of shock and chills across your body. "Besides, it's awfully hard to keep a secret from the God of Lies. I can see through a lot of emotions."

Apparently you had started to shake, because Loki said, "Darling, do not shake. There is no need to be ashamed of your feelings. If anything . . ." he got closer. " . . . I . . ." Closer. You held your breath and you chanced snaking your arms around his waist, ready to pull him closer. " . . . I return the feelings . . ." and before you could react, before you could say anything, or pull away . . . he kissed you.

Right there, in that darn elevator, he kissed you. It was so magical - it sent you into a frenzy you didn't even realize was there until your lips met for the first, miraculous time. His arms wrapped tightly around your lower waist, pulling you even closer to him, as you changed your own arms to coil around his neck and play with his silky hair.

This seemed so cliche, but it was happening. It was finally happening. No more douche boyfriends, no more being secretly terrified of telling your best friend how you truly feel; it was all fine now.

Loki made you believe that, and it was crazy to think, so insanely crazy to you that just this one kiss could make you truly, fully, believe that everything was going to be fine. Yet, it did.

~

That was one of the best days of your life. Because you had been right, most things were pretty easy-going from then on out. As for Tony . . . well, you got your revenge. Being with Loki changed your life for the better, and Tony and all the others were happy to say, "I told you so" on that special day your best friend and the love of your life proposed to you in that same old elevator.

However, you never did find out how Loki had discovered of your feelings. But that was okay with you.

Maybe, some things are better left unspoken.
