The Big 'C' (Part 5)

"A main Hydra base was detected in Iceland. Pretty big, estimated around two hundred agents. I'm going to need all hands on deck for this one." Fury was looking straight ahead, keeping his face emotionless the whole time.

"But what about (Y/N)? Someone needs to stay with her." Natasha said, "Especially now."

"I need everyone on this one; no options." Tony stood up and started to argue, but was halted by Clint speaking up for the first time.

"She can stay with Laura." Tony turned towards Clint to address his offer completely; unwilling to send his daughter anywhere before he knew she would be completely taken care of.

"Are you sure? You've got what, three kids now? I'm not saying (Y/N) is a handful, but she does need to be looked after and requires attention."

"I'm sure she would love having her over, and besides; The country air will be good for her lungs. Get her away from the city for a while." Clint countered; he knew that this was really there only choice, so he was pretty confident that Tony would say yes.

"Is she okay to fly after the episode that happened this morning?" Natasha asked Bruce.

"She should be fine. She's had a couple of hours to relax and the last time I checked her oxygen levels were getting better. She just needs to have her oxygen with her the whole time. I can set up a area at Clint's house for her chemotherapy.

"Make sure it's okay with Laura first." Clint went out of the room to talk to his wife while Tony made it back down to you to tell you the plan.

"Excuse me Mr. Stark, but Ms. Stark is asking for you." F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s voice chimed in from above. Tony quickly left the group to see you you wanted from him.

"Hey sweetheart, did you need something?" Your dad's voice startled you from your thoughts. You were thinking about everything, and realized that you had seen everybody that you loved today. And that scared you,

"Hey dad." you started to wring your hands together; not sure why you were so nervous for what you were about to tell him, but you were. He sat down next to you on your bed and grabbed one of your hands to stop your nervous tic.

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, everything's fine, I just wanted to run something by you." You new what you wanted to do would hurt him; that he would be in denial, but this was something that you thought you had to do. You took a deep breath and came out with it before you could back down. "I want to write a bucket list."

"What?" Tony didn't understand why would would want to do something like that, because in his mind, you weren't going anywhere. Nothing bad could ever happen to his little girl. "I don't understand; why do you want to start a bucket list?"

"I don't want to die, but just encase; I want to be ready. I'm not trying to make you upset, please understand that" you said. You tried to keep a hold of his hand, but he pulled it away from your grasp and started to pace the lab.

"No, I really don't understand why!" His voice raised up a couple of octaves, scaring you more than you cared to admit. It has been awhile since your father had last yelled at you. His eyes widen and his chest was no longer rising and falling in an even rhythm, but erratically and without a pattern. He was starting to have a anxiety attack.

"Dad, please. I'm so-" he cut you off.

"Do you know what a bucket list means?! What it signifies?!" Tony kept on yelling; not intentionally trying to direct his shock and slight anger towards you; it just happened that way, and you didn't know how to react. He just needed to vent, and you just happened to be there when he finally snapped.

"Dad, I need you to calm down." you helped your father through a lot of his panic attacks, and even in this situation, you were prepared to help him through another one. "Concentrate on your breathing." You got up slowly from your bed and walked over to him. Tony was now leaning on the ground with his hands on his face and running through his hair. You gently put a hand on his shoulder; trying not to scare him more. The door opened once you were on the ground next to him; Steve walked in. He started to run over when he saw the both of you on the floor, but you raised your hand to keep him back. "Come on, I think we both need to practice on our breathing. Just repeat after me," you took as deep as a breath as you could before releasing it with a slight cough that you tried to keep in for his case. "There, see? Nothing to worry about." Steve walked over to you and helped you back into your bed and made sure sure your oxygen tubes were in place.

"I'm not ready for that,"

"I know you're not, but it's something that I have to do. I will regret it if I don't."

"Are you giving up?" You leaned forward in your bed slightly; taken back by what your father just said.

"What?"

"Are you giving up on getting better," Tony was shaking, and it was all your fault. You set him into a midst of panic because he thought you were giving up.

"You did not just ask me that." you closed your eyes to try to gather your emotions, but caved and started to cry slightly. "I can't believe you just asked me that! Of course i'm not giving up, dad! This is not something I can just say 'yes' or 'no' to, it doesn't work like that! I'm scared, terrified even. I don't want to die, but this isn't something I can stop by just wanting it,"

"Then why do you want to start a bucket list?" He asked, his mind to clouded for him to put the puzzle together without help.

"Because if something does happen, then I don't want to die with regrets! I'm the only one thinking real here! I need to stop wallowing around this tower and do something with the time I have left!" Your dad was no longer in a panic state, leaving you to calm down slightly. "Listen dad, I don't want to die, but if i'm going to; I want to be prepared." you were seated quietly on your bed; letting your eyes wander towards the door. Steve was standing by it with a shocked expression. "I didn't mean to upset anyone, i'm sorry. I'm just having trouble picturing the glass half full here"

"(Y/N), what do you want to do?" Steve walked over to you and sat on your bed. He was sneaking glances at Tony every once and awhile to make sure he was okay, but kept most of his attention on you.

"What?" You asked.

"I can help you with your bucket list, if you want." Tony shuffled over to you and Steve.

"I'm sorry sweetheart; I understand now, and I want to help." he kissed your forehead. "Do you have a list started or something?"

"I actually already finished writing everything down; i've had a lot of time on my hands." you reached under your mattress and pulled out a small journal; it was decorated with stickers and little sayings. In the middle rested a picture of the whole team and all of your friends from your fifteenth birthday party.

"You are already one step ahead of us doll, mind if I take a look?"

Steve opened the book and started to read through everything that you wanted to do.

Ride a motorcycle

Go night swimming in the ocean

Take a ballet class

Volunteer at a children's home

Go to Asgard ( If Thor says yes)

Take all my friends to Build a Bear

Go to a hot springs

Ride the cyclone

Go on a date

Meet the avengers MCU actors

Have a sip of alcohol (even though it's gross)

Through a dart at a map of the world and travel there

Steve cringed at the mention of the cyclone, but agreed with everything else that you put.

"This is what you want to do?"

"More than anything. I know that they are not really extravagant, accept going to Asgard, but it would mean a lot to me if I was able to do them." You took the journal back from Steve and put in back under your mattress for safekeeping. Steve stole a quick glance at his phone when he heard the chime go off.

"Tell you what, after we get back from this mission, I can try to get Bruces permission to go on a ride with me or Bucky. That sound okay?" you nodded eagerly. "While we are on this mission, you are going to stay with Clint's family on his farm."

"Is that okay with Laura? I don't want to cause any trouble for her."

"I just got a text from Clint saying that Laura would love to have you over for a few days." You nodded and slowly slipped off your bed. The oxygen that you were hooked up too was portable and was in a backpack. You were about to slip on the pack, but your dad's hands took it from you while Steve picked you up.

"I really don't think this is necessary, I can walk you know."

"Like i said earlier; I like to carry you, and you shouldn't exert yourself. We don't want a repeat of what happened a few hours ago. I know that you are still tired." you gave up on trying to reason with Steve and just let him carry you to your room. Natasha and Wanda were already raiding your closet looking for outfits to pack into your suitcase. Steve set you done on your bed and left you alone with them once you were settled with your oxygen pack.
