'Don't leave me here Steve!, please!'

'I'm sorry y/n but I have to go..'

'Please...' you reach out for him. 'It hurts!, please just lift his thing off of me!' You cry out.

'I'm sorry...I can't...I have to go...'

'DON'T GO PLEASE!, STEVE....STEVE!' You yell after him before continuing to scream your lungs out from the pain.

You wake up screaming from the very vivid nightmare. You can still feel the pain. Sure it's your brain messing with you.

It's called phantom pain, Phantom pain is a perception that an individual experiences relating to a limb or an organ that is not physically part of the body. Meaning that you feel the pain in your leg, even though your leg isn't there anymore.

You have medication for it, making the pain a little less...painful. But you hate taking them.

It's has now been six months since your last encounter with Steve and you're still having nightmares about the event that made you lose your leg.

You've seen so much on the missions, seen so much horror and gore, and still this is what makes you wake up sweaty, throat raw and with tears streaming down your face.

'Goddamnit...' you curse as you catch your breath again.

You see your phone light up and Tony's weird picture appears with his phone number.

'Hello?' You ask picking it up. 

'Did I wake you?' He asks when he hears your groggy voice.

'No, the nightmare beat you to it...what's up?'

'Still having those huh?' He asks.

'Yeah...so why are you calling...not that I don't like you calling but..'

'I need your help, the world is in danger blah blah blah...'

'Tony I'm not an avenger anymore...I can't even walk properly...I'm useless...'

'You're not, you've got a big brain and that's what I need right now...there's someone after the infinity stones and I need you to help Shuri remove it from Vision...'

You sigh, debating wether or not you should go down this road again, you don't want to get caught up in that life again but they also really need your help.

'Where do I need to go?'

'Wakanda...I'll make sure you get flown in...just be ready this afternoon...'

'Will he be there?' You ask.

'Yes but I will keep him away from you I promise....and also don't kill him if you do see him because believe it or not we need him too...alive...'

'No promises...' you say before hanging up.

'Y/n!, oh my god!' Wanda rushes to you and you drop your bag to hug her.

'I retire and everything goes to shit..' you joke.

'We missed you...' Natasha comments just as Wanda lets go.

'Well I missed you all too, now let's save the small talk for after the fight?'

'Yes That seems like an excellent plan Miss y/l/n...it is truly great to see you again...'

'It's good to see you too, now let's get this stone from your head shall we?' You smile softly at Vision as you look at the stone.

'I'll get the equipment..' Shuri says and you nod as you go to work immediately.

'Y/n?' Steve asks and you try your best to ignore him.

Tony steps in front of you, you can see him in the corner of your eye.

Shuri gives you a confused look and you shake your head as you keep going.

After a couple minutes the team is needed to beat the aliens coming to Wakanda while you and Shuri keep going with the stone.

'Its...good to have you here...'

'Well I'm not doing this for you...' you reply bluntly.

'Still good to have you here...' he replies nodding and rushing down to the field, leaving you with Shuri.

'Soooo, I don't want to be rude or anything but...what is going on?' 

'Guy problems...he dropped a container on my leg...that's why I got a prosthetic...still can't forgive him...'

'I would've killed him...' she replies and you nod with a small smile.

'Yeah...' you scoff, 'I would've too if he wasn't so important for everyone's safety...he basically ruined my life... I couldn't be an avenger anymore because I couldn't walk...I have nightmares...I'm sorry I have no idea why I'm telling you all this...'

'Hey it's okay...we girls have to stick out for each other..' she replies.

'You're right...where have you been all my life...' you joke and she chuckles.

'I like you...' she comments.

Then the window shatters and you're quick to drop your movements on Vision and grab a weapon to defend both of you. 

'Out of the way...' the alien says and you tighten your grip on the weapon while staying silent.

He takes a step to the side and you mimic him. You can't let him get past you to Shuri and Vision.

'I said...out of the way!' He yells pushing you aside making you land against the wall.

You push yourself up and you see the alien heading to Shuri, who's stepping back.

You rush to the weapon you dropped and you pick it up. You take a step back and you storm to the alien, jumping up and landing on his back.

He violently swings his arms around trying to pry you off while you're trying to stab him.

'Shuri!, Vision!, Run!' You yell and Shuri pulls Vision off of the table to make a run for it.

The alien then elbows you off and steps on your leg, but is surprised when you don't wince in pain or cry out.

He tilts his head and proceeds to put more pressure on your leg but still nothing. He picks you up by your neck and you keep on kicking him until he starts squeezing.

'Where are they going?!'

'Like i'd tell you...' you try to speak, a wicked smirk spreading across your face.

He again throws you against the wall. He then takes his own weapon and starts poking away at you but missing every time.

'Y/n!, come on!' Shuri yells halfway up the stairs.

'Just go!' You yell signalling her to just go.

Shuri nods and rushes down the steps as you try to crawl to the same steps.

You get pulled by your ankle and you get up just in time and kick him away, you turn and you stumble to the ground.

You look at your prosthetic leg, you're missing half of the prosthetic, which is laying in tiny pieces on the ground, he must've ripped it off when he pulled you.

You start to panic, you won't be able to fully get up, only if you teach the stairs in time, you might be able to pull yourself off of the floor.

So you again start crawling towards it, desperately trying to make it in time.

'Tell me where they are!, now!' He orders and you turn around to see him hovering above you. 

'Get lost...' you reply and he pulls you up again, but this time instead of asking further questions he sticks his own weapon into you, making you gasp out.

'You won't bother me anymore mortal...'

He drops your body to the ground and you try your best to breathe but you can't. Your vision gets blurry and you slowly start to sink into unconsciousness.

After just losing most of his friends, maybe even considered family, Steve makes his way up the stairs to check on you and Shuri.

He looks around, expecting you to be sitting at the table. But you're not. You're laying lifeless on the ground.

'Y/n!' He yells rushing over to you and getting onto his knees.

He slowly turns you over and sees a puddle of blood coming from your side. Your eyes are closed and your mouth is slightly open.

'No no...no...' he pulls you into his arms and you slowly open your eyes a little bit.

'Steve...' you try to smile, your vision is still blurry but you'd recognise him anywhere.

'Hey y/n..you're gonna be okay...I got you...'

'Did we win?' You ask, your voice breathy.

Steve takes a little too long to answer and you're already slipping away again, so instead he picks you up.

The others slowly start coming up the stairs, including Bruce.

'Bruce I need you to help her...' Steve says as he carefully lays you down on the table Vision was laying on moments ago.

Bruce hurries to your body and he pries away the clothing to see the large open wound.

'Steve...I don't know if I can...'
