Imagine; you always get benched so you start to fight crime on your own until one day the team shows up and ask you to come back.

The body is like a machine, it's got an on and off button, it's got a way in and a back way out. It's got a motherboard, and a whole network that's attached to it. And you well, you're the technician who knows how to control it.

It's been a while since you left the avengers after you were benched for the thousandth time. You left them saying that you were better of fighting crime alone. It hurt them, but it wasn't even close to how much they hurt you by keeping you on the sidelines all the time.

They tried to contact you on a few occasions but you'd never respond, sure they were still friends but you were so done being treated like an extra instead of part of the team.

But what you didn't know is that they are desperate right now, with this new danger to the world, a woman who is known for her skill to cave people by using their worst fears.

It seemed to be similar to yours, yours is controlling people using only your mind, you don't need movements with your arms or hands or even fingers, you just look at the person and they are to your mercy. Something the avengers could really use.

'Y/n this is serious...you might want to head up there...she's using the avengers and it's not looking pretty...' Liam, your best friend says through your com.
He is your guy in the chair.

'I think the fuck not... she's not hurting my friends unpunished...'

'Girl you go show her who's in charge...' he replies.

It's a mess, lifeless bodies and pieces of crumbled building are littering the ground.

The even more disturbing thing is that all the eyes of the dead people are clawed out, guess that's what people are willing to do to get rid of what she puts in their heads.

'You think you can stop me?, you?!' The woman screams at the group in front of her you recognise as your former team.

'We can certainly try...' Tony replies.

'Oh how heroic of you...let's see what your worst fear is...' she grins evilly as she raises her hand.

You on the other hand have different plans for this woman, you only have to take a quick look around in her head to know the way to access her body.

So with this lady, you just have to sneak into her brain, find the access points and disconnect them, so you can take full control.

'I hope yours is bad, I like to watch them scream for help.. as you've seen some may even try to blind themselves...' she chuckles waving her hand around to all those lost.

'As for the rest of the team well, you enjoy the little show yourselves, I'm going to show you every fear you have buried, and given that you're the heroes, that must be a lot..' she raises both hands now.

She of course expects something to happen, but whatever her hands were supposed to do, they won't do it. Her body is fighting you, you have to admit that she's powerful, but you're more powerful than her, you can turn her power off like a switch.

'What?!, this cant be happening!' She gasps as she looks at her hands.

'Was something supposed to come out of those hands or something?' Tony grins when he sees you standing behind her.

'This is impossible!' She screams as she looks at the team, they're all looking your way, it makes her turn around.

'You!' She marched over to you, but with every step she takes, she sinks deeper through her legs.

The cracking of her bones and the way they bend at your command, it surely gives off a message.

The woman clutches the ground below, 'you're like me...why would you attack me?, you're mutant!, you're a disgrace to your race!'

'Oh sweetie... I may be a mutant, but I'll never be like you... that's my family right there... you hurt them, I'll hurt you... Oh and I spotted this barrier in your head..' you squad down as she lifts her head.

She is glaring daggers at you, she tries to push herself off of the ground, she's trying to stop you from breaking it.

'I suppose it's not that important right?'

'You wouldn't...'

'Oh but I would...' you smirk.

You watch her eyes widen, her head is being flooded with childhood trauma and all other fears at the moment, she was trying to make other people go through what she went through, such a cliché.

You look at her laying on the ground, speaking in tongues, shivering like crazy and you realise that could've been you.

If the team hadn't saved you from those scientists, you would've become just like her, you would've ended up in the same position if not worse.

'Y/n...' Steve clears his throat and you look up at him as you straighten yourself out again.

'We are so sorry...'

'Save it please...you're gonna tell me that it was all because you wanted to keep me safe, and the only way of doing just that was to keep me on the sidelines..' you speak up, everyone patiently waits for you to finish. 'You guys are not that interesting when it comes to motives for the things you do...' you smile at them.

'You saved us...we owe you big time...'

'No, I think we're even now...if you hadn't been at that facility I could've ended up the way she did, full of vengeance...I'm sorry for leaving...'

'We're sorry for putting you on the sidelines y/n, you're a total badass and we were scared bunny's when it came to you...' Natasha replies.

'Y/n, if you want, we still have a free spot on the team, the actual team not the sidelines this time...' Tony offers and you chuckle.

'You should do it y/n...' Liam speaks up in your ear. 'I'll be fine besides, I may have sort of already applied for a job at the compound without you knowing...I'm actually talking to you from my new office..'

You look at the team, they're all staring at you with a wide smile, you do kiss them and working with Liam and the team would be a dream.

'Okay...' you reply nodding.

'Okay like in "I accept" or like in "sounds good but no thanks"...' Tony asks.

'I accept...' you smile.

Bonus because I am a dick who doesn't update on time;

'Strange, now would be a good time to clean everything up and take this nutjob away...' Tony says as he looks around the demolished city and the people laying around.

'Don't tell me what to do Stark...' Strange snaps back at him and you chuckle.

'Please Stephen...'

'See Stark?, that would be appreciated from time to time, someone who just says please...you have a lot that you could learn from her...' Stephen replies.

'Ahh yes!' Thor bellows. 'Much to learn from this little one!, welcome back!'

'It's good to be back...but Stephen, What happens to the people?'

'I can turn back the time, nobody would remember a thing, the buildings will stand and the people will continue their day as usual...'

'So they won't remember a thing huh?'

'No, it's like this never happened...'

'Good, there's enough fear in the world already...'

'Well said..'

'Thank you..' you smile proudly.
