Finding out that Carol hadn't actually died in an accident at work, you were shocked and overjoyed. Shock only grew when she told you about where she had been since she supposedly died and opened your eyes to what existed beyond your small dot that was Earth.
As soon as she was back with you on Earth, you insisted she moved in with you (seen as her old apartment had been sold and most of her belongings had been stored in your spare room or with Maria) and started off where you had left off. With Carol came her new pet Goose. To you he was a pleasant ginger cat and that was all he would be to you, even if she insisted, he was actually some alien creature.
Before everything had happened, Carol hadn't been a huge cat fan, but now she was fully supporting the stereotype of a crazy lesbian cat mum.
You entered your living room, having to shimmy past the oversized cat tree that was encroaching on the entrance of the room. Carol was already there, cradling Goose like he was a baby, rocking him gently as she pointed out the birds that were perched on the bird feeder outside of the window.
"I would let you chase those birds," Carol said to him. "But I don't really know what damage a flerken could do to the environment."
"I can't imagine he'd do anything good for it," you commented, plopping down onto the sofa, letting up a small cloud of ginger fluff.
Carol tilted the feline creature towards you, so that you could see his content expression.
"Isn't he the sweetest?" She grinned, pressing a kiss to the top of his head, forcing out a low rumble of growl from Goose.
"I'm starting to think that you love him more than me," you chuckled.
You didn't even question her love for Goose, but you also didn't need to question her love for you too.
"I'm pretty sure he's my soulmate."
You playfully narrowed your eyes at her, feigning offence. Goose made another grumble before leaping from Carol's arms and trotting happily out of the room to likely find somewhere to sleep or something to knock over- he may not biologically be a cat, but his attitude certainly fit one.
"I don't know if he agrees," you said.
She shrugged. "I have a feeling that is how he shows his love."
