Relationships were hard for anyone but when the person that you were dating was over a century old and had been used as a weapon, there were more issues than an average relationship. You knew from the beginning that Bucky had been through far more than anyone ever should of but that didn't change how you felt about him, and you were more than willing to be there to keep on supporting him forever but that didn't mean that he was happy with that.

Once again, the conversation of the two of you being together came up and although it hurt you that he wanted to push you away, you knew that until he actually wanted to get rid of you, rather than just protecting you, you weren't going to budge.

"All I do is hurt people," he croaked, trying not to cry. "I can't hurt you."

You knew that he had nightmares regularly of him hurting or killing you but in reality, he had never hurt you. Of course, you were aware that you could be in a lot of danger, that Bucky could kill you with ease, but you trusted him with all of your heart and knew that he had no ill will in him.

"I know you would never hurt me," you assured him. "I have never once believed that you would ever do anything to hurt me or even upset me in the slightest."

His sob choked in his throat as the terrors of his mind tortured him as they did every day. "I can't be with you. I'm a burden and I'm just going to hurt you."

You reached up to cup his cheek gently, giving him a moment to calm down.

"Unless you don't love me, I'm not going anywhere," you said with a warm smile. "I'm staying. I love you and I trust you. You don't have to be alone anymore."

His tears fell upon your hand as he tried to make sense of how someone could love him when he felt so imperfect and dangerous. You knew it would take a long time before he would be able to see himself how you did, but you were willing to keep reminding him every single day.

"It's going to be okay," you reminded him.

Standing on your tiptoes, you reached up to press your lips to his, doing everything in your power to make sure he knew he was loved.
