Katerina Summers
Katerina's POV
The wall of alcoholic stench and smoke hit you like a tonne of bricks as you entered the bar. I tried not to let it get to me as it was clear Logan and John had no self-control and weren't going to get the information from this guy if they just went in all guns blazing.
"So Logan what is your plan, I'm sure you're not planning to just go over to him and say 'Hello Mr LeBeau, my brother's a psychopath, so it'd be nice if you could give me directions to what some call 'the island'. You know the place you were taken to against your will and probably tortured?' I'm sure that won't work," I frowned.
"Well Kat, why else do you think you are dressed in such attire? You will certainly gain his attention and he won't try to kill you, but surely he'll try to kill us. You just have to keep him calm and more interested in what you can offer him and not on what he can offer us," Logan shrugged with a smirk on his face.
"You do mean I have to pretend I am interesting in sleeping with him and won't have to. As I am not going to have sex with this guy. I don't care if that would get us to Creed if I did, I am not doing that, I am not a cheap whore you can use for these things, I will kick your arse with a strong magnet," I growled.
John let out a chuckle as my eyebrows creased and I had a frown formed on my lips.
We walked through the bar, "There's our dude," John stated gesturing to a young attractive man sat down at a poker table.
The three of us looked forward at the man as he did a card trick which simply added to my attraction to him that quickly changed my opinion on my earlier remark.
"That's cool," John smiled.
"Actually on second thought, there's a hotel down the road if I have to I'll take him there. If you need me to be a cheap whore, I'll be a cheap whore," I smirked biting onto my lower lip.
John chuckled whilst Logan rolled his eyes, "But I'm going to cover the back if he runs or so," John spoke.
"I'm not going to fight with him," Logan stated trying to seem innocent.
"Yeah right," John and I spoke at the same time.
"What? I am in fights with everyone?" Logan responded.
"Don't dogs kill cats?" John stated.
"Just go cover the back will ya?" Logan sighed.
Logan and I walked closer to the table whilst John walked off to cover the back of the bar.
"Are you Remy LeBeau?" Logan asked.
The man stopped moving the cards with his hat tipped so his face was hidden behind it.
"Do I owe you money?" The man asked with a clear think southern accent.
If I had to try and force a connection between us to stop him killing Logan I guessed my British accent would probably show our differences too clearly so it'd be better if I faked the same accent as he had, as I knew my stuff about New Orleans so I could bluff my way through saying I was from here.
"No," Logan stated.
The man tips his hat up a bit so we can make eye contact, as a smile curves onto his lips.
"Then Remy LeBeau I am," He smiled.
Logan took a seat at the table whilst I stood behind him resting my elbow on the back of the chair.
"Bring the beautiful lady a chair, unless she'd like to seat with one of us?" Remy smirked.
"I'm sure your lap with suffice," I smirked in return walking around the table to his side.
I tried to be elegant and sexy, but I'm sure I wasn't portraying that well. Slowly I sat down on his knee as he wrapped an arm around my waist to keep me firmly in my seat there.
"So does the beautiful lady have a beautiful name?" he smiled.
"I'm Katerina," I said biting my lower lip.
I let my gaze drift from the man whose lap I sat on to the man who I walked into the bar with. Logan looked un-eased and slightly annoyed. Even though his plan was to get me to flirt with Remy, he probably never thought I'd go through with it, and I was sure he was prepared to stop it at any moment but wouldn't as it'd destroy the plan.
Remy smiled at me once again before turning back to the table.
"Blind is 100, and the small blind's 50. May I deal you in?" Remy stated to Logan.
Logan rummaged through his pocket but came up short as he pulled out some change along with a couple of notes.
"Uh, what can I get for... uh... 17 bucks?" Logan asked.
I let out a laugh, leaning back into Remy's chest, whilst everyone else at the table let out their own laughter at his statement.
"17 dollars," Remy laughed, "A cab ride home perhaps?"
Remy laughed once more pulling me closer to him with the arm that was laced around my waist. He used his over hand to sweep my hair from my shoulder.
"So what brings you two to our fair city, sir?" Remy questioned.
Even though he involved me in the question it was clearly directed towards Logan, so I didn't plan on speaking in response.
"Victor Creed," Logan stated bluntly.
Remy fidgeted in his seat, stiffening his whole body, "And who's that?"
"The man I am going to kill. He's working for a man names Stryker, on, uh... an island. Just need to know where it is," Logan explained leaning his elbows on the table.
Remy's body stayed ridged as his spoke once more.
"Why would you think I know that?" He asked calmly.
"Well 'cause I know who you are Gambit," Logan smirked, "you are the guy who escaped and you are the guy who's going to take me back there."
Hastily Remy changed the topic, "Those are mighty nice tags you have on there, sir. The man who took me had tags just like them."
With the hand that wasn't around my waist Remy held a card in his hand spinning it in between his fingers.
"Now bud listen to me," Logan hissed.
Before he could say any more Remy rose from his seat still holding onto me and propelling the card that had been his fingers into Logan's chest, causing him to fly backwards into the stage that was behind him.
As he stood up further, I lost my balance collapsing into the man next to him, practically lying in his lap. I rolled onto my back to see what is happening.
Remy raised his cards and shot them at Logan who had just gained his balance, propelling him further backwards into the wall and through it into the alleyway.
I looked at Remy. He looked down at me putting his hand out for me to take which I did. He pulled me to my feet, before pressing his lips to the hand he held.
"I am sorry Katerina, I apologise if I hurt you," he smiled softly.
"It's fine you didn't hurt me, but I'm not the one you should apologise to as you didn't throw me into a wall with your mutant powers," I frowned making my way towards the hole in the wall, but Remy pulled me back with the hand he still held.
"But I must apologise to a lovely women I could have caused damage too, and within defending myself I have hurt her friend," he smiled.
"How charming?" I stated bluntly pulling my hand from his and going to check on Logan.
I got through the wall to see Victor and Logan along with a body in the shadows. Remy followed me walking past me to stand near to Logan.
"Two years I was rotting in that hell," Remy stated but was cut off by Logan's elbow colliding with his face.
"Logan!" I exclaimed.
"Always the pacifist Kat," Victor smirked.
Before I could reply, Logan let his claws out.
"Oh shiny," Victor smirked, "Tell me something Jimmy do you even know how to kill me?"
"I'm going to cut your God damn head off. See if that works," Logan hissed.
Without notice they began to fight. I wasn't condoning them fighting but the only thing that would happen if I tried to get involved is me dying. I stepped backwards to get away from them fighting, but I was shocked by Remy's body no longer being sprawled on the floor after being knocked out with Logan's elbow.
I expected their fight to die down quickly but it didn't.
"Logan stop, for heaven's sake, what good is going to come from his death? He may be a complete bastard but he's still your brother," I shouted over their growling and snarling.
Neither of them answered me, and continued fighting. I heard loud footsteps from above us, before a person jumped from the roof of the building behind me. As he landed on the ground I realised it was Remy, as he slammed a staff into the ground everything began to shake. The two men fighting along with me, were thrown backwards away from him as most things in the close vicinity moved and jolted.
He lifted up the staff, causing me to fall to the ground with various debris and rubble fell down around me. I coughed as the dust rose. I couldn't move. A large piece of broken metal was embedded in my stomach, and I had bricks and other rubbish thrown variously over my body. I turned my head to look at the three men.
Victor began running away, and Logan went to follow but Remy stopped him hitting him with his staff.
Logan turned to him, only allowing one claw to come out, "that's a nice stick," he spoke running his claw across the middle snapping it in half. He kicked Remy in the stomach, before he pinned him to the wall.
"You're going to take me to this island where I am going to kill Creed, Stryker, pretty much everyone you hate in this world, do you understand?" Logan growled.
"You really going to kill them?" Remy asked.
"As long as you stay out of my way," Logan hissed.
I groaned, "I'm sorry to get involved in this lovely moment but I am in a slight predicament. I am human, not a mutant, I don't have any magical healing powers, so this is going to kill me."
The two men looked over to me rushing over to me.
"Kat, are you okay?" Logan questioned kneeling down next to me.
"I'm bloody amazing, just slightly impaled and having my bones crushed, but I've experienced worse travelling on the London tube," I groaned letting my British accent be heard.
"Oh shit, we need to get you to a hospital. Remy do you have a car? Do you know where a hospital is?" Logan asked.
"Yeah, follow me," he stated looking rather flustered and shocked.
"I'm sorry Katerina, this is going to hurt," Logan sighed.
He removed all the rubble from me, leaving the glass in my stomach. He put his arms under me one under my back and the other behind my knees picking me up and pulling me to his chest. I cried in pain as he carried me around the building following Remy to his car.
"Urgh... it hurts," I hissed resting my head against his shoulder, "Logan please tell my brother, I'm sorry, he doesn't deserve to go through this. Just save him."
"Don't talk as if you are going to die. You aren't going to die Kat. You will be there to save him. He will be fine as will you," he smiled softly kissing my hair.
"Just in case Logan, please save him and take care of him. I abandoned him and he'll never forgive me, but he needs to be safe. He is in danger, and I can't help him if I am dead, or even if I am alive, I don't know what it's like to be a mutant, you'll be better to him than I will," I groaned.
"Your brother is a mutant?" Remy asked from the front of the car.
"Yeah. He's where you were. He was taken, and I can't let him be hurt," I sobbed.
My eyelids became heavy and I let out another groan.
"No Katerina, stay awake. You have to stay awake," Logan stated softly shaking my shoulder.
I didn't respond as the blackness engulfed me.
