Bucky Barnes- Color Soulmates
(Requested by --Hiraeth )
The only colors you know are black and white. It's normal, though. Everyone sees in black and white. Everyone except for those who's met their Soulmates.
Soulmates not only are your other half, but they somehow spark something inside of you that brings all of the other colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue.
You haven't met your soulmate yet, sadly.
Natasha has, though. And so has Clint. You find that if you keep a close enough eye on them, they'll always be together, closer than friends. You had asked Natasha who her soulmate was, but she simply shrugged and said that it doesn't matter.
____
You meet your soulmate when Steve introduces him. James Buchanon Barnes. Or Bucky for short.
To say the experience of having your whole world explode into color was breathless is an understatement.
The first thing you saw was Natasha fiery red hair. At least, you thought it was red. She had explained as best as she could all of the colors, and you remember her words as you meet Bucky's eyes and note that they're blue.
His eyes are so blue and his eye lashes are dark, black, you think. And his hair, too. Brown. Maybe dark brown.
And then his lips pull back to reveal stunning white teeth.
Steve notices the way you and Bucky stare at each other, eyes wide and mouths slightly agape.
"No way," Natasha says first. "They're Soulmates."
___
It's a year later on a mission when the edges of the world begins to tint grey. Like the colors bleeding out of his vision. He doesn't understand until he sees the color in Steve's eyes are gone. They're just grey.
Because the first color he could see was blue when he had meet (Y/n), and now, it's the first color to go.
"She's dying," Bucky stands, abandoning his post on from the window and Steve grabs his bicep. "Let me go."
Steve shakes his head, the color draining slowly from his skin. "No. I'm sorry, Buck, but we can't leave."
"Like hell we can't!" Bucky smacks Steve's hand away, notices that he can't see the red in Steve's shield anymore. "(Y/n)'s dying."
"What?"
"The colors, they're... fading. I have to go and save her before it's too late." Bucky growls when Steve stops him again, and then that's when all of the color disappears like smoke.
"I'm sorry," Steve says, but Bucky stumbles back, presses the heels of his hands to his eyes as he slides down the wall.
