I suggest you to listen to Everything I Need by Skylar Grey while reading this.

Loki watched as you laughed at something that Clint said. The sound of your laughs sent butterflies fluttering in his stomach. He tried to push the feeling away but he couldn't. Loki looked at you from afar, as you talked with Natasha and Clint in the living room.

He wanted to come and join you, but he didn't deserve that. He had been here for almost six months, yet he still felt that he was out of place. He didn't belong here in the Avengers. If it wasn't because of Thor, he wouldn't be here at the first place.

The team was cold and distant at him, but not anymore. They accepted him with open arms. But you, you were more than that. You always smiled at him and asked how his day went. He never saw you without a smile on your face. And he couldn't help but smiled everytime he saw you.

But he didn't deserve this, he thought.

Born on the wrong side of the ocean
With all the tides against you
You never thought you'd be much good for anyone
But that's so far from the truth

So he distanced himself from everyone. He stayed in his own world, much to their dismay. However, Loki noticed that you always tried to communicate with him. Even when you only said a word like 'Hi!' or 'Morning!' to him, he felt his world brighten.

Just like today.

"Oh hey, Loki! What are you reading?"

Loki looked up from the book that he was reading, a smile found its way on his face when he saw you in the library. You smiled broadly and sat next to him on the couch. He gave you the book, and you read the title.

"This is a good book, I've read it."

You said, handing it back to the God of Mischief. Your fingers brushed over his hand, and he felt something inside of him stirred. Loki cleared his throat and decided to ask you the question that he had been dying to ask.

"Y/N, why--- why are you so kind towards me?"

I know there's pain in your heart
And you're covered in scars
Wish you could see what I do

He frowned. You raised your eyebrows and your smile widen. You didn't expect for him to question your kindness.

"Because you deserve it. I'm nice to everyone."

You answered casually, not thinking that Loki was thinking about it all the time. Loki always wondered why would a gold-hearted person like you was being so nice to him. When you said he deserved it, he couldn't help but thought that you were lying.

"Thank you, Y/N."

He said almost in a whisper. You gave him a comforting smile and nodded.

"No problem, Loki. Just tell me if you need anything."

Cause baby, everything you are
Is everything I need
You're everything to me
Baby, every single part
Is who you're meant to be
'Cause you were meant for me
And you're everything I need

You kissed his cheek before leaving the library. Loki's heart thumped against his chest like a drum. Tears welled in his eyes and he shook his head weakly. This sentiment of love wasn't made for him. He couldn't love because he would end up hurting them in the end.

He didn't want to hurt you.

Loki knew he was falling for you. Even if he tried to fight it, he couldn't. Your charm was irreristable. So he let you comfort him with your genuine kindness.

Until one day, when he remembered that it was the same date and day that his beloved mother died. Loki locked himself in his room, staring blankly into the wall, blaming himself for everything.

You noticed that Loki was absent for the whole day. You were going to find him in his room but Thor told you not to disturb Loki, you didn't ask him why though. So you just let him be. Perhaps he needed his time alone.

You can say I'm wrong
You can turn your back against me
But I am here to stay
(I am here to stay)
Like the sea
She keeps kissing the shoreline
No matter how many times he pushes her away

It was almost midnight when Loki finally came out of his room. He went to the kitchen to drink some water and you were there. You just had your supper and when you saw him walked into the kitchen, you beamed at him. Loki didn't return your smile though.

"Hi, Loki. Are you okay?"

You tried to talk to him, smiling when his eyes landed on you. He got some water for himself and he was going to go back to his room when you noticed that something was wrong. He wasn't talking to you.

"Do you want to eat? I can make some food for you. You didn't take your breakfast or lunch---"

You stopped talking and flinched when Loki slammed the glass of water on the counter, almost breaking it in the process. Loki looked at you, there was something in his eyes that you couldn't tell what.

"Loki, are you alright?"

You spoke in a soft voice. Loki winced slightly, he shut his eyes tightly before opening them to glare at you.

"Stop, Y/N."

"What?"

You were stunned. Loki clenched his jaw and you could see tears in his eyes.

"Stop being nice to me."

You were taken aback by his words and your smile fell. For the first time since he met you, Loki saw you without a smile on your lovely face. Hurt was evident in your eyes.

"Stop smiling and laughing like everything is alright when it is not! Do you think if you're being positive all the time, everything will turns out fine? No, you're wrong. Life is not all about happiness, Y/N."

Loki suddenly snapped at you. His wounding words wrecked your fragile heart in a split second. Tears boiled in your eyes but you tried to hold them back.

"Life is not all about happiness but we have to find our happiness, Loki. No one should live unhappy, neither should you. I hope you know that I am here to make you happy."

A lone tear escaped your eye but you quickly wiped it away. Loki was filled with remorse when he saw you crying because of him. He didn't mean what he said. He didn't mean to hurt you. He never wanted you to be hurt.

Cause baby, everything you are
Is everything I need
You're everything to me
Baby, every single part
Is who you're meant to be
'Cause you were meant for me

"Why can't you see that I'm always here for you?"

Your voice cracked, betraying your mind. You didn't want to cry, but it broke your heart to know that Loki couldn't see your affection and tenderness towards him.

"Good night, Loki."

With a heavy and broken heart, you left the kitchen to your room. Loki just stared as you walked out of the kitchen. His heart was aching and he felt a piece of him was taken away when he saw your tears.

If you wanted to make him happy, he wanted to make you happy too.

You weren't expecting to see Loki at the dining table on the next morning, but he was there. In fact, he was there earlier than you. You wanted to go and say hi to him but your mind was against it. So you just sent a small smile at him and you didn't even wait to see if he was smiling or not. You just sat next to Thor, who was eating his poptarts happily.

"Morning, Lady Y/N!"

"Morning, Thor. What flavour are you having today?"

"It's chocolate fudge."

You nodded but a frown took over your face when you caught Thor was exchanging looks with his brother. Not so long after that, Loki changed his seat with Thor. You shifted uncomfortably in your seat, glancing at Loki who sat next to you.

"Did you sleep well last night?"

Loki was the first to break the silence. To be honest, you were flabbergasted when he talked to you. You thought that you annoyed him.

"I did. What about you?"

Loki smiled genuinely at you, his eyes looked into yours.

"I didn't. I couldn't sleep last night thinking how bad I hurt your feelings. I didn't mean what I said, Y/N. Please forgive me."

He was sincere, you could tell. You just nodded and smiled warmly at the God of Mischief. You knew Loki was having a hard time to adjust his life here. So you decided to push the pain from the last night away.

And everything happens for a reason
It's all a blessing in disguise
I used to question who I was
Well now I see
The answer is in your eyes

"I'm fine, Loki. You don't have to apologise. Now let's eat. I'm starving."

You said, trying to make him feel better. Loki chuckled and nodded at you. As soon as you said that, the Avengers was all at the dining table. As usual, there were food throwing at each other and friendly bickering but all of those things lighten up your every morning.

"What kind of music is a balloon afraid of?"

Tony started to throw his lame jokes here and there, making you rolled your eyes. Bruce frowned and rubbed the back of his head.

"A balloon doesn't listen to music, Tony."

Bruce tried to reply his friend's joke with another joke, but failed miserably when no one laughed. Steve was smiling though.

"For a scientist, you're kind of dumb."

Clint snickered. Natasha smirked and shook her head. You chuckled when Bruce's face flushed.

"I'm trying to make a joke, too!"

Bruce defended himself, annoyed that his friends weren't supporting him. Natasha patted his back softly and snorted.

"Whatever you say, Bruce."

Bruce groaned and Thor was more than confused with the jokes now. Tony looked at you, a smirk was dancing on his lips. You wiggled your eyebrows and proudly said:

"Pop music."

"Yeah, you're not wrong!"

Tony announced, making you squealed in joy. Then they all started to talk about other things, laughing once in a while when a person said something funny. And the most entertaining part was when Tony started to start a food fight with Thor.

In the corner of your eyes, you could see Loki was smiling faintly at the scene in front of him. You didn't know what he was thinking, but you knew that deep inside, Loki was glad to be here, in this team or should you say, a family.

You weren't wrong, like Tony said.

Loki loved a moment like this. He felt like he belonged here with them. The Avengers was like a family, and somehow he was welcomed. Of course, he didn't want to interrupt their conversation or anything but at least, he felt like he was a part of the family. It warmed his cold heart.

No missions meant that all of you was going to watch a movie together. But the schedule changed when it started to rain outside. Instead of watching movies in the theatre room, Tony suggested to go out in the rain.

"Are you out of your mind?"

Bruce frowned. Tony rolled his eyes and continued to pull everyone outside. Loki was hesitated for awhile, but when you grabbed his arm and grinned at him, he knew he couldn't say no.

Loki saw the gleam in your eyes when you were eager to play in the rain like a child. Finally, Tony managed to persuade the Avengers to play in the rain without caring if they might get sick in the next morning.

"Oh god, I feel so alive!"

Clint screamed in joy, jumping up and down happily. Natasha smacked his head and laughed when Hawkeye groaned in pain. You laughed at them and you didn't notice that the God of Mischief was staring at you, and only you.

"Y/N.."

You looked at him, raising your eyebrows. Loki gave you a big smile, before wrapping his arms around your small frame. You were startled, but you returned his hug with a smile on your face.

Cause baby, everything you are
Is everything I need
You're everything to me
Baby, every single part
Is who you're meant to be
'Cause you were meant for me
And you're everything I need

"Thank you for everything. You make me more than happy, Y/N."

He whispered softly, only you could hear him. That was all you needed to hear before you chuckled softly and planted a kiss on his cheek.

"You make me happy, too."

His heart fluttered when he noticed that everyone was smiling at him.

"We're all happy that you're here."

Steve said, and Loki knew that he deserved to be here. He deserved to have friends and be loved like everyone else. The others nodded before proceeding to dance in the rain. You laughed but played along as you pulled Loki to the 'rain dance floor'.

The only thing that Loki could feel when you rested your head against his chest and smiled sweetly at him was, happiness.

He was finally happy.
