Chapter - 46
Hello butter cups!
Happy Sunday and Happy reading! Here is the chapter aesthetic!
"Ekanthaaa, I am so happy for you! I was just going to tell you something today. Actually Arya called up and he was off the town these days and I told him you want to pursue something different from your degree and all. He, being a student counselor has finally come into help. He said he'll help you out!",Vennela said.
Ekantha was surprised and taken aback hearing that. She never asked for Arya's profession nor did she think he would ever come forward to help her.
"Thats a great news and this really means a lot to me, please thank him on my behalf",Ekantha said to which Vennela nodded.
Ekantha just sat on the bed, with pillow in her hand thinking about how the day went by. A revelation, a good news, a bad omen, everything came at a time but the good thing here was, she did it! She tried to handle it all without breaking down which was indeed a great achievement!
"What are you thinking about, Ekantha?",Vennela's words brought her out of her thoughts.
"Nothing, just",she shrugged and laid back on the bed hugging the pillow.
She closed her eyes and immediately fell asleep just as though she was waiting to do that.
Isn't it like that? When everything that we are scared of happens the opposite way and the coast is finally clear, that is the day we sleep with no wrinkles on our forehead and it was nothing less for Ekantha as well.
On the other hand, Abhimanyu and his mother were travelling in his car back home. His face had this big smile on his face and once in every two minutes he was looking at the side mirror and smiling to himself.
"Abhi, if you smile this much I can understand but people going on road will definitely think that you have lost your sanity",Vishalakshi said chuckling at her son's actions.
"Who cares about them, maa? It's my moment and my day and finally my girl said yes to our forever. How can I hold myself from being happy and expressing it?",he said looking at her while she just smiled.
"Do you want to celebrate it?",Vishalakshi asked.
"Of course, why would I say no to an opportunity like that? Just a mom-son's celebration. Let Dad and his daughter celebrate they always corner me, I finally found a chance to only spend sometime with my mom",Abhimanyu said to which Vishalakshi laughed.
"Your sister isn't wrong, when she says you are a drama queen",Vishalakshi said.
"Maa, not you too! That crazy head will say things like this only. Where shall we celebrate? How shall we celebrate? Why doesn't my brain work at times like this? Should I just google?",he was blabbering to himself and Vishalakshi just smacked him on his head.
"You picked the wrong profession, my son. You should have been a radio jockey. Talking non stop! Why do we need to go somewhere to celebrate it? Stop the car",Vishalakshi said and immediately being the obedient son which he was he pressed the break and the car halted.
"Next what, maa?",he asked.
"Get out of the car",Vishalakshi said.
"Maa?",he looked at her with a questioning face.
"Get out of the car, Abhi",she said in a serious tone.
They were in an almost empty street, which only had an icecream cycle waiting for customers and immediately it clicked his mind what his mother's plan was.
Vishalakshi also got down of the car to find her son looking at her with a wide grin on her face. She took her wallet and walked to the icecream seller.
Both the mother-son duo as always purchased their favorite vanilla ice cream and walked while taking a bite of it.
"Abhi",she called him out.
"Yeah maa",he slowed down and listened to her.
"As a mother, I feel like there are somethings that I need to tell you before starting a new phase in life",Vishalakshi started saying and they both just walked on the street.
"It might seem weird, I don't want you to be hanging in between your partner and your mother. I am not asking you to change your priorities either, all I am telling you is give her time to adjust, don't rush into things not just physically, mentally and emotionally as well.
You studied in Bangalore and Delhi, didn't you? and I think you know how difficult it was to get used to the place and people. You know that, right?",she asked and he nodded listening to her carefully.
"Kanna, not everyone needs to be the same person as you. Everyone is different in their own way, your perspective could be different comparatively and so could be your thought process but one thing, never ever get into a conclusion without hearing to the other side. Listening to harsh truth and accepting it is easier than an unknown regret that you never heard their side.
Misunderstandings, couple fights, possessiveness, ups, downs, happiness, sadness. Companionship isn't always sticking to your partner 24/7, but also giving them space to grow and also being there for them when needed. You might be thinking, why is maa telling all this to me now? It's not like I am getting married tomorrow, this isn't just about marriage kanna, your courtship time is just as precious as the time after you get married so whatever you do just keep in mind, you both might be exact opposite but if I get to know that you hurt my Ekantha, I wouldn't think much, just will disown you and think I have two daughters and I am not kidding",Vishalakshi said in a serious tone.
"I know you are capable of doing it maa, I'll try my best to be a good partner and companion and keep your words in mind",he said and Vishalakshi ruffled his hair playfully.
"Ammaaa, don't do that! I don't like it",he said and set his hair properly.
"One more thing nanna, never cheat in relationship, never hide anything between you two no matter how bad thing it is it will become better if you discuss it and never play with others emotions even for fun, get that?",she asked sternly and he nodded.
"Aye aye captain, Usually in movies and all I see the bride's mother will tell her everything regarding things to the bride, like to not to disrespect in laws or husband and things like that right? I wasn't expecting to hear something like this from you but like always you surprise me with your actions",he said and side hugged Vishalakshi.
Both of them walked around with not much talks exchanged and as it was getting more late they decided to go back home. With light talks still going on, where Abhimanyu was asking his personal relationship guru his doubts regarding this they drove back home.
He parked the vehicle and knocked the door. Mayu opened the door and glared at him.
"Maa, why does she always glare whenever she opens door. It almost gives me the feels of a hungry dinosaur ready to eat me up",saying so Abhi stands behind his mother trying to protect himself from Mayuri.
"Amma, ask him if he remembers that he has a younger sister who loves ice creams and treats and I don't usually glare at him but when he does things like this I don't have an option because I can't do anything except for that. I can't even hit him because he is elder to me! If only God listened to me and made me your first child this situation would never arise",Mayuri said and this time it was Abhimanyu's turn to glare at her.
"Both of you get weapons, kill each other, alright?",Vishalakshi said and both of them nodded in no. Silently yelling at each other in whisper tone they entered their home, while their mother walked in the front.
She turned around and just a glare from their mother both of them gave their sheepish grin and ran to their rooms, while Vishalakshi gave the news about Ekantha saying yes to Virendra and hearing that Mayuri ran out of her room.
"Really? Finally! I can call her as anni, offically! Yay! Amma, please please keep their wedding after my boards, I want to enjoy in my brother's wedding",Mayuri said clinging onto her father's shoulder as she settled down on the couch where her parents were sitting before.
"We'll see about that, maybe they'll get engaged but wedding will take some more time. Lets wait, Kanyaka garu said that they'll visit us soon",Vishalakshi said.
While the three of them were talking about things, Abhimanyu on the other hand, stood infront of his room's window. Whatever was happening, it was real and he didn't want to do anything to mess up. He just want this moment to go on for a long time, till he can completely absorb the fact. He was quiet not expecting her to say yes this quickly, with no hints given.
But she did, and that's all! He was playing with his fingers and played "Oo Cheliya", which synchronized with his situation.
Songs were never a part of him, he wasn't a frequent music listener but today it all just flew away and he felt like dancing to the song as well. Of course not his fault, happiness makes you do things like that. After some time, he just hugged his pillow tight and closed his eyes with a smile on his face.
The next morning :
Before, the sun could say good morning to the world, Ekantha's day started and her beauty sleep was interrupted with a phone call from her mother informing they have reached village in the early hours of the next day morning. Not being able to sleep again, she went for a walk and came back home. She wanted to just sit and breathe and be grateful for everything that has been happening to her. Showing gratitude and appreciation is very much important, that's what she learnt when she didn't recieve any of that since her childhood.
She started writing her gratitude journal which she started writing recently, writing everything that she is grateful for. When she was lost in her world, concentrating completely on writing her journal. She didn't realise she had almost spent more than an hour sitting there. Vennela called her out, asking if she wanted to take bath or wait for some more time.
On the other hand, Abhimanyu just wanted to complete his beauty sleep and he didn't realise he had work to do. It was almost nine thirty in the morning and after his mother waking him up since seven o clock. He finally decided to open his eyes and be ready for the day. The first thing, he did was to ask his mother if Ekantha really did say a yes the before day to which she just hit her head and went from there.
He quickly freshened up and got into his clothes. After packing his office essentials and his laptops and moved to the living room to see the house empty, which meant his sister and father are already off to their respective places where they had to be and he was late. Quickly stuffing his breakfast into his mouth and choking on his breathe as well as getting scolded by his mother, after all this he completed his breakfast and rushed to his office.
He came out of the house to see his bike's tyre was punctured and the car was already taken by his father. Cursing himself and his situation, he tried for a cab almost hoping he would get it but guess he woke up on the wrong side today and none of cabs and autos were available. Though he booked 3 bike , they ended up getting cancelled leaving him frustrated.
Stomping his legs, he came back into his phone and called Rehman to pick him up.
Ekantha, got ready in a simple kurti which reached till her knees and tried pairing it with jeans. It's not every day that she wore jeans and it had a lot to do with her insecurities about her body but she was trying to get over it and she wanted to experiment how this would look on her.
She paired a light blue jeans with a pink printed long kurti and tied her hair into a high pony, one look into the mirror and she felt like she was seeing another version of her right in front of the mirror. Vennela who just came back into the room after showering, looked at her change in dressing yet again. In a span of week this was the second variation but she felt good, seeing her best friend experimenting and exploring herself.
"Aye hayee, nazar na lage to you,'Ammu',"she said while Ekantha looked at her with a slightly tensed face.
"What happened? You look so pretty! I so badly want to twin with you so that we can click so many pictures and I'll flex to the world that I got a beautiful best friend, not just on the outside but in the inside too",Vennela said and Ekantha just hugged her.
"Thank you, Vennu",she said.
"What? I am not saying that just for formality! You ask your boyfriend..oops your to be husband instead and if he won't say the same then let's see",Vennela said.
She wasn't going to school today, so she completed cooking and having her breakfast before she could just dress up and try on a few things.
The idea didn't seem bad, Ekantha thought for a while and called him up and..
To be continued..
