Ch. 6: The outsiders
The wedding party turned into a circus. Some people shouted at each other demanding explanations, others tried to get as far away from the intruder as possible, and the warriors pointed knives and axes at him.
Of all the times he had to appear in the pack he had to choose my wedding night. If it weren't for Yaros Ignos being as tall and muscular as Almec, I would have already tried to attack him as a result of all the anger that had accumulated inside me.
"I don't care who you are, you don't have permission to crash my wedding," Almec told him, clearly as angry as I was. He grabbed my arm and hid me behind him. "I have nothing to talk to your alpha until you give an explanation of what happened with Ezra."
Yaros tried to approach Almec and was intercepted by Feinid who put his knife against his neck.
"Don't you dare take another step," he warned the outsider.
"What is going to happen if he doesn't listen to you?" A young man with curly blonde hair appeared behind Yaros. "Are you trying to start a war?"
"Romeo, that's enough." A tall woman with green, slanted cat-like eyes stood next to the young man, holding his shoulder. "You're going to cause us problems if you continue like this. It's better if Yaros does the talking."
"How many more of you are there?" Almec asked. He motioned for Geldra to come closer to him and pushed me towards her. "You better give me an explanation before I order my warriors to force you out of my territory."
Geldra dragged me to the center of the room, making sure to stay in front of me. I had to tilt my head to see what was happening.
"I was trying to explain when your friend threatened me," Yaros said, looking at Feinid. "By the way, I would appreciate it if you would move the knife away from my neck."
"Don't get too close to my alpha," Feinid warned him once more before taking a step back.
"There are four of us. I already introduced myself, then there is Romeo, Priscilla, and Gaspard who is still in the hallway. We are here to demonstrate the good intentions of our alpha, we do not wish to start any war, and that is why we believe it is necessary to clarify misunderstandings."
"Ezra is dead, that's no misunderstanding," Almec interrupted him.
"It's not a misunderstanding but it was an accident and that's what we want to clarify. Can I come a little closer?" Yaros asked. "I have a gift as a sign of our good intentions."
"You can approach me but not my guests," Almec replied.
Yaros took a step towards Almec and the warriors closed in on the other two strangers.
I tried to struggle against Geldra to free myself from her hand that was holding my arm. I didn't like being separated from Almec at all, especially since the Moon Guardians members didn't seem trustworthy.
"I don't like them either. Try to read their thoughts," my wolf told me.
I could not do it.
Maybe I was tired after the ceremony, or I needed more practice.
I tried a second time. It was impossible to enter the minds of any of them. How did they manage to hide their thoughts?
"I don't think it's a coincidence," my wolf told me. "They must be doing it on purpose, that means they know about your power. This can be dangerous, we need to be careful."
I need to tell Almec, I thought as I watched him take a step toward the large box that Yaros left on the floor.
"Stop struggling, you're not going to get anything," Geldra told me. "You're not the only one worried about Almec, but he can take care of himself."
"I know he is strong but I need—.
"You can't always be with him," Geldra interrupted me. "You're going to have to get used to this, he's the alpha of the strongest pack, there's always going to be a new threat hanging around him."
"I'll never get used to it." I grabbed her arm, searched for her greatest fear, and spread it through her mind.
Geldra let go of me, bending over in pain as she held her head between her hands.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, touching her once more to stop her suffering.
It is not easy to recover from my mental attack and even though Geldra was a strong person it took a few minutes for her to return to reality which gave me the perfect opportunity to run towards Almec.
I caught up to him just in time to see him open the rectangular box. Slowly so as not to startle him, I put my hand on his back to let him know that I was with him.
Almec lifted the lid and immediately closed it again. The warriors around us looked at him in confusion, probably wondering why his alpha hid the contents of the box.
It was better this way.
The others couldn't see it but I could. There was a body inside the makeshift coffin. I had never seen that person but even so, I knew very well who it was, Almec's expression of pain told me everything.
"How dare you do this at our wedding?" I questioned the Moon Guardians members. "A gift to show your good intentions? To me it looks more like a declaration of war."
"We are bringing the body back to you so you can bury it," Yaros said. "That's what your husband asked for."
A collective gasp filled the room after he mentioned the body. Hatred was present on the faces of the warriors who pointed their weapons at Yaros.
"You bring him in an old box and throw him on the floor during my wedding celebration and expect us to see it as a gift?" Almec asked him. "Ezra is our gamma, he deserved to be transferred with honor. Any excuse you want to give me, you can save it for today, I'm not going to keep humoring you. You can stay in the pack tonight but you're going to be under surveillance and tomorrow I'm going to hear what you have to say."
"It seems fair to me," Yaros told him, bowing his head.
"Get them out of my house," Almec ordered the six warriors surrounding Yaros. "Show them the way to the inn and make sure they don't leave their rooms all night."
"Are you okay?" I asked Almec, holding his hand. "I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about them, I'll take care of it later." He smiled at me but I could see the pain he was trying to hide. "Why don't we continue with the party? I don't want our wedding night to be ruined because of me."
"You're here with me, there's no way the night is going to be wasted." I kissed his hand before leading him to the center of the room. "Let's continue our dance."
***
The once bustling mansion became silent as soon as all the guests left, including Faustina who went to Wina's house.
It was the first time we were alone and my nerves began to take a toll on me.
Don't be silly, he's your husband, I told myself as Almec locked the door to the ballroom. Perhaps it was more about my fear of ruining his expectations for the wedding night than staying alone with him that was making me nervous.
"Everything okay?" He asked me, wrapping his arms around my waist. "Your hands are shaking."
"I guess I still can't get over all of today's excitement." I hugged his neck and pecked his lips.
"How about I help you relax?" Almec asked me before kissing my neck.
"I don't know, what do you have in mind?"
"Anything you want, I'll do it." He caressed my back. "You just need to ask me."
"Why don't you take me to our room first?"
Almec laughed and picked me up in his arms. Finally his sad look disappeared, calming the worries in my heart.
Going up the stairs wasn't so easy because of the tail of my dress that kept getting in the way of Almec's feet no matter how hard we tried to grab it. Even after reaching the first floor, he was still fighting with the piece of cloth.
"The last lycan defeated by a wedding dress," Almec joked after getting inside the room.
He set me down, moved my hair forward, and began to untie the back of the dress.
"What is this? Your revenge?" I asked him between laughs.
"Definitely," he told me before kissing my shoulder. "Besides, I like you better without anything on. The dress is pretty but it doesn't compare to your natural beauty."
A shiver ran down my spine when Almec dropped the dress, leaving me alone in my panties. Soon it was replaced by a tingling sensation when he kissed my neck and wrapped his arm around my waist.
"You're perfect," Almec told me, burying his head in the juncture between my neck and shoulder. "Perfect and all mine."
He closed the distance between our bodies and I could feel his bulge pressed against my back.
"It's not fair," I complained as my breathing quickened.
"What's not fair, sweetie? I can't help you if you're not clear."
"That I'm here almost naked and you still have everything on."
Almec lifted me with one arm and carried me to the bed. "Rest there a little, I'll take care of everything."
I settled in the center of the bed, leaning on my forearms to better enjoy the show that began in front of me.
Almec had only taken off his jacket and was unbuttoning his shirt but my body was already on fire. Every part of him was perfect, even the scar that ran across his torso.
I didn't look away for a second until he climbed onto the bed on top of me wearing only his boxers.
"Better this way?" Almec asked me, lifting my legs until they surrounded his waist.
"Definitely," I answered, squeezing his waist with my legs.
His large hand grabbed my right thigh, lifting it until Almec wrapped his lips against its skin.
His kisses became more and more intense and every mark Almec left on the inside of my thigh made me shiver.
He pressed my skin between his teeth, making me let out a moan.
"Almec," I exclaimed, grabbing his hair.
"Yes, dear? Are you enjoying yourself?" He lifted his face and smirked at me. "I hope this at least makes you forget about the party."
My mind froze for a second, I didn't understand Almec's sudden words.
"Are you still angry about that?" I asked him, lowering my legs.
"Of course I'm angry, I'm furious." He hid his face in my neck and pecked my mate mark. "I wanted our wedding to be perfect after all the effort you put in and those idiots had to ruin it."
"It's okay," I told him, hugging him. "You can't control everything, and leaving that moment aside, I assure you that it was the most wonderful night of my life."
"You're not lying to me to make me feel better, are you?" Almec asked me, caressing my hip.
"Why would I do that? Besides I thought you were about to make me forget what happened," I said, caging his body between my legs. "Are you giving up already?"
Almec crashed his lips against mine in a breathtaking kiss.
"I can assure you that when I'm done with you you'll only be able to think about me," he told me, squeezing my butt.
Confident Almec was back and he made sure to keep his promise. He took care of me all night, leaving marks all over my body, and when the sun came up he was the only thing on my mind.
