Chapter Thirty

~Ellie's POV~

I refused to go to the hospital, despite everyone's protests and settled on ripping the bullet out of my chest and having the paramedics stitch me up there. Midnight hovered around me the whole time in a worried panic. Midoriya had tried to hug me at one point and worry over me but I shooed him off. I'd managed to convince everyone not to call Toshinori and one of the civilian's was kind enough to give me a long sleeve shirt, since my other shirt had been soaked in my blood.

As our new bus arrived at UA, I spotted Toshinori, Snipe and Nezu waiting in the parking lot. No doubt they'd already been notified of the situation. As the students disembarked Nezu and Snipe debriefed them and sent them on their way. I stepped off the bus and swatted Midnight and Present Mic away from me as they both tried to offer me assistance. They were treating me like I was fragile, they had no idea what I had endured, and could endure, this was nothing.

"Get away from me." I hissed at them.

Toshinori's gaze fell on my new shirt and he frowned as he approached me. "Are you okay? You look pale."

"I'm fine." I offered him a reassuring smile.

"You're not fine." Aizawa growled from behind me, "You should be at the hospital."

Toshinori threw me a worried look. "Hospital? Ellie, what happened?"

I swiveled around and glared at Aizawa, "I don't need to go to the hospital, I'm perfectly fine."

Aizawa held my glare, "You were sho-."

I lunged at him, "Shut up!"

He deflected my swing with ease and tried to gently catch my injured arm in his grasp. I wrenched back preparing to swing again but let out a hiss of pain as Toshinori lightly caught my arm in his hand.

"Ellie?" I couldn't bear to see the look of worry reflected in his piercing blue gaze.

"It's fine." I placed my hand over his.

"She was shot." Aizawa interjected.

"What?!" Toshinori paled, "Where?"

A strong gust of wind sent Aizawa flying before he had a chance to erase my quirk. "It didn't hit anything vital." I tried to reassure Toshinori, but he was stricken with guilt and worry. I clasped his hand in mine, "Honestly, I got stitched up by the paramedics, I'm fi-."

He swept me off my feet before I could protest. I winced as my wounds ached at the sudden movement. Toshinori marched me into the main building before ducking into the first empty room he could find and set me on my feet. "Show me."

"W-what?! N-Not here, it can wait till we get home." I snapped and spun on my heel to march out of the room. The room shifted and I felt my stomach lurch and twist into uncomfortable knots as a wave of nausea gripped me.

"Ellie?" Toshinori reached out to steady me as I swayed on my feet overcome with nausea.

"Can we go home please?" I slumped against him.

"Are you alright? Does it hurt anywhere?" He panicked.

"No, it doesn't hurt, I just feel a little sick. I used my quirk too much, that's all." I rubbed my temples and shut my eyes.

Toshinori swept me into his arms once more and kissed the top of my head, "Alright, get some rest." He gently rubbed my back as he carried me home.

When we got home, Toshinori looked over my injuries. Once satisfied they were sufficiently stitched up and making me swear to tell him the moment my condition changed or I felt any pain he helped me into bed and watched over me until I fell asleep.

Over the next few days, as my wounds began to mend, I was extra irritable. I blamed it on the pain, though I'd experienced far worse pain before and liked to think I had a high tolerance for it. Present Mic managed to get on my bad side and nearly went flying across campus a few times.

As I was looking over a new training regimen I'd drafted up for some of my students, I sensed someone approach my desk and looked up curiously to see Toshinori in his skeletal form holding his mobile phone out to me. It was opened to some ridiculous menstrual tracking app. My cheeks flushed scarlet.

"What the hell is that?!" I snapped.

"You didn't bake brownies..." He said in somewhat of a daze.

"What on earth are you talking about?" I glowered not liking that we were having this awkward conversation in front of all the other teachers.

"You always bake brownies before you start your period, you said it was a preemptive apology for being grumpy." He pointed as if it were the most normal thing in the world for him to have my menstrual cycles programmed into his phone.

"And?" I grumbled.

He pointed to the date on the calendar, according to his stupid tracker my period was supposed to have started days ago. "Are you...-?" He trailed off.

I felt all the color drain from my face as realization hit me. "...I don't know..."

"Well take a test!" Midnight squealed from her desk causing my entire body to burn bright red.

"STAY OUT OF IT!" I snarled.

Toshinori held up a plastic bag from a nearby pharmacy with a boyish grin on his face. I couldn't help but roll my eyes and snatch the bag away from him. Inside were five different brands of pregnancy tests and a variety of chocolates. He looked so excited, he was positively giddy. Sighing, I made my way toward the faculty bathroom with Toshinori at my heels.

He tried to follow me into the small bathroom until I let out a squeal of embarrassment and hurled him out the door with a gust of wind, "W-wait out there, i-idiot!" I blushed and closed the door to keep him out.

Hesitantly I grabbed one of the tests out of the bag feeling nervous as I opened the box and skimmed over the basic instructions. My nerves threatened to run away with me as my heart pounded in my chest sporadically. I wanted this, for Toshinori, but it terrified me deep down.

My fingers trembled as I pulled the white stick out of the box and looked at the symbols on the front. Two lines for pregnant, one line for not pregnant. I felt like I was going to be sick. It was nerve wracking knowing Toshinori was on the other side of the door probably with his ear against it, like a complete lunatic. This thought made me smile. I managed to awkwardly pee on the stick before capping it and setting it atop a paper towel on the counter. It said it would take five to ten minutes. After flushing the toilet and washing my hands I hesitated.

After a minute, Toshinori knocked on the door. "Ellie?"

I ignored him, my eyes transfixed on the small circular bubble waiting for lines to appear.

Another minute, another knock.

I chewed on my bottom lip as I watched the flimsy plastic stick.

Another minute.

"Ellie? Are you okay?" Toshinori sounded worried.

My stomach was tying itself into knots.

Another minute.

"Ellie, open the door, please."

Another minute.

The first line appeared.

I held my breath.

A second line appeared.

I was pregnant!

My stomach churned unpleasantly but I managed to keep myself collected as I moved toward the door. With shaking fingers, I opened the door. Toshinori looked as if he'd been pacing frantically.

"Are you-?"

I nodded.

A blinding smile lit up his face and I let out a squeal as he caught me by the waist and lifted me into the air. Seeing the pure elation on his face erased my worries and tears of joy streamed down my cheeks as he kissed my belly before holding me close in a loving embrace, cradling me against him.

"Thank you, Ellie." He kissed the top of my head.

"For what?" I asked him between happy tears.

"Making me the happiest man in the world." He captured my lips in a sweet kiss.

The door to the small teacher's lounge we were in swung open with a loud crash as Midnight and Present Mic barreled through it. Aizawa was standing behind the pair shaking his head at their crazy antics.

"Congrats on Baby Might!" They squealed simultaneously.

"What the hell? We are so not calling it tha-." My sentence fell short as I saw stars in Toshinori's eyes. Of course, he'd love the ridiculous name. "Ugh. I guess that's what we're calling it." I huffed as I folded my arms in front of me. "Ridiculous."

Toshinori chuckled softly as I pouted at the ridiculous name. Midnight and Present Mic swarmed toward us as I wriggled out of Toshinori's arms and attempted to go in for hugs. I swung around catching Midnight by the wrist and used the momentum of my spin to push her away from me into Toshinori's direction before swiping Present Mic's feet out from under him.

"No hugs!"

"I thought she was injured." Present Mic rubbed his back as he sat up off the floor.

"Baby Might strength." Midnight surmised causing Toshinori to chuckle and me to roll my eyes.

"Go away!" I snapped at the two nuisances.
