Chapter Forty Two
~Ellie's POV~
On Saturday morning, I reluctantly made my way towards the student dorms for the girl's day I was sure to regret. Toru insisted I bring pajamas with me, which wasn't a good sign. I was bad at girl's days. What was one supposed to do for a girl's day? The last one I'd had was at Midnight's house and I'd just spent the whole time sleeping on her sofa. When I arrived at the UA dorms I paused as I spotted Midnight waiting outside the front door. She turned to me with a smile.
"Gah! What are you doing here?" I groaned as I avoided her attempt to tackle me with a hug.
"I was invited." She laughed as she tried once more to hug me.
I sidestepped her with a sigh before stepping into the dorm. It was surprisingly spotless. All of class 1A was groggily sitting in the common room most of them still looking like they were trying to wake up. My gaze drifted to the kitchen and I smiled as I spotted Bakugo helping some of the more awake students with breakfast.
"Ellie!" A pair of floating cutesy girly pajamas barreled toward me.
I struggled to catch the invisible girl in my arms only to let out a yelp as Midnight took advantage the second I lowered my guard and hugged me from behind. "AH! Stop smothering me!"
After disentangling myself from them I went to the kitchen to look over Bakugo's shoulder, though he was much too tall and I had to peer around him to see what he was doing. I smirked as he tensed and shot me a glare. "What do you want?" Bakugo was a decent cook for his age but he tended to let his anger get in the way and things he was chopping would turn minced if he wasn't careful.
"Just trying to see what you're making for breakfast." I smiled as I reached up to mess up his dusty blonde hair.
He swatted my hand away with a huff of annoyance. His crimson eyes narrowed, "What the hell are you doing here anyway?" He grumbled as I started shooing everyone else out of the kitchen.
"Shut up, punk." I took the knife from his hand before scooting him out of my way as I took over making breakfast.
"Hey! What the hell?!" Bakugo snarled as I shoved him out of the kitchen.
"Unless you were preparing a vegetable puree by hand, I think you might have messed up, sit back and watch anger management hedgehog." I smirked as I utilized my quirk to help obtain ingredients I needed and to chop things with perfectly timed blades of wind. Before I knew it, I had a crowd of students and Midnight watching me as I prepared a healthy and delicious breakfast.
In twenty minutes time, I had twenty two plates of food laid out on the counter and jumped as I was met with the sound of applause. I turned to find all of the students, save for Bakugo, applauding me.
"That was amazing, Ellie-chan. I had no idea you were such an amazing cook." Midnight smiled, "Don't you just make the cutest little housewife."
I shot her a dark look. "Shut up and eat your damn breakfast, hentai freak."
Everyone grabbed a plate of food and retreated to the dining area to eat together. Midnight and I trailed along behind them. I smiled as I noticed all of the students were enjoying their meals even anger management hedgehog was struggling to hide that he liked it.
"Ellie, where did you learn how to cook? This is amazing." Yaoyorozu asked me curiously before adding, "Maybe our cook should take some lessons from you." I'd noticed in the short time I knew the girl that she was from an extremely wealthy family and would on occasion make absent comments of the like. If she weren't such an earnest and straightforward person it would probable come across as bragging.
"Prison." I joked with a very casual shrug causing a few students to gasp and Midnight to choke on her bite of food. "Just kidding." I smiled as Midnight struggled to regulate her breathing, "I learned how to cook shortly after my parents died so my brother could eat properly, but I did improve my skills a lot in prison. Lots of free time."
The majority of the students blanched at this.
"You're really joining the pros?" Midoriya asked me with stars in his eyes shifting the topic away from my prison experiences.
I shrugged. "I guess so... though I probably won't do very much until I get this parasite out of me." I looked down at my teeny tiny baby bump with a fond smile.
"Why'd you change your mind?" He asked curiously causing the other students to look at me waiting for my response.
"Someone needs to keep that damn hot head from taking the number one spot." I shrugged trying to play off indifference not really wanting to divulge to them that I was doing it for Toshinori. "No offense, Icy Hot." I smiled over at the boy with the two-toned hair.
"Some taken." He frowned slightly clearly not liking the nickname I'd given him.
Bakugo smirked, he approved.
After breakfast a few of the boys volunteered to clean up as Midnight and I followed the girls to the common room. The sparkly boy with the French accent, Aoyama, tagged along and claimed a seat next to me. None of the girls said anything about him wanting to crash their 'girls' day'. I noticed the two boys who'd offered to do dishes groan as they realized they could have just infiltrated 'girls' day' with Aoyama. Toru claimed the other side of me and everyone else gathered around finding a comfy chair to sit on and a few settled on the floor.
I looked at Midnight curiously as she looked on with a smile. "Now what?" I asked nervously.
Midnight laughed at this, "Oh, right, Ellie-chan doesn't have much experience with this kind of stuff."
"Well we can do manicures, pedicures, facials, talk about boys, and watch movies!" Toru cheered.
"That all sounds awful." I groaned causing Midnight to laugh again.
"It's fun." Toru giggled.
Twenty minutes later we were all lounging in the common room in PJ's and fluffy robes. Everyone had their hair up in towels. Toru managed to guilt me into letting her smear some strange goop on my face that smelled quite pleasant. The common room was filled with the giggling of the girls as they all applied face goop to each other's faces. I lounged on the couch between Aoyama and Toru unsure of what I was supposed to do as I tried to sit very still so the face goop wouldn't drip.
"What's the point of the cucumbers?" I asked curiously as I poked at a slice of cucumber sitting over my closed eyes.
"I don't know." Toru giggled, "It's just what they do in all the movies."
"So, it serves no purpose?" I frowned.
"Actually, the chilled cucumber slows blood flow around the eyes and reduces puffiness." Yaoyorozu piped up. She probably had the most experiences with this kind of thing since she came from a wealthy family and had probably been to a professional spa service at least once.
"Of course, you'd know that." Mina, the girl with the pale pink skin and fluffy pink hair giggled.
"Ellie?" Uraraka's soft voice cut through all the giggling.
"Yes?"
"When did you realize you loved All Might?" Her voice was filled with nervousness.
I felt my face turn red at this. "Is this supposed to be girl talk or an Ellie interrogation?" I groaned wondering if anything would happen if my burning face cooked the goop. Would it melt?
"Both." All the girls giggled.
"Ugh. When is this supposed to turn fun?" I grumbled.
"Are you avoiding the question?" Midnight teased me.
"Of course, I am!" I snapped causing them all to laugh.
"Come on, Ellie!" Toru pouted, "We all want to know."
My entire body burned at this, "It took me awhile." I huffed, "Though now that I think about it, maybe I loved him right from the start...I didn't realize it until about a year or so after The CEO I'd been trying to kill was sent to jail and I retired from being a villain. He was annoying and persistent but he had a knack for finding me when I was at my lowest. I think I finally realized it when he stopped running out of excuses for why he was checking in on me." I smiled.
There was a knock at the door of my small fifth floor apartment. I glanced up from the book I'd been reading and frowned. Who the hell was here? Preparing for a fight I crept toward the door and peered through the peephole. I felt my heart skip a beat as I saw the grinning glittering golden haired buffoon standing in front of my apartment door with a blinding smile.
"What, now?!" I glowered as I wrenched the door open and fixed him with a sharp look.
"I-uh-..." A splash of color stained his cheeks and he shuffled his foot nervously, "I...got a noise complaint..."
"Huh?! Why the hell would the number one hero be investigating noise complaints?!" I snapped at him as I folded my arms in front of my chest.
"Ah..." he looked down nervously, "I was just worried about you." He admitted with a blush.
My heart fluttered in my chest, "What?! Why?!"
His face turned a bright shade of scarlet. What the hell was his problem? I'd never seen him so flustered. "I lo-like you, Ellie...but I'm running out of excuses to check in on you...should I stop?" He asked seriously, his blinding smile beginning to falter.
My heart dropped, I didn't want to see his radiant smile fall. Wait...did he just say he liked me, did he almost say love?! My body burned at this and I nervously buried my face behind my hair. A strong gust of wind slammed into him, "Y-you better n-not, idiot!" I stammered before he was sent flying through my window.
I'd never seen him smile so brightly as he did when I hurled him out of my apartment window. I scrambled to the window to make sure he was okay and watched him land with the biggest most ridiculous grin I'd ever seen plastered across his face.
"That's so cute!" All the girls gushed drawing me back from my reminiscing.
After we washed off all the face goop, I had to admit my face felt refreshingly soft and smooth to the touch. The girls insisted on pedicures after that. Midnight offered to do mine and ended up painting a rubber ducky on my big toe causing everyone to laugh. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at this. After pedicures, then manicures we all relaxed in the common room as the girls discussed what kind of movie we should watch.
I looked over at Toru and smiled, she seemed to be in much better spirits. Though girl's day felt like literal torture to me, it was serving its purpose, so I wasn't going to complain.
"Let's watch a scary movie!" Mina beamed.
"Huh?! Why?!" I panicked causing everyone to turn to me.
"Oh right. Ellie, doesn't like scary things." Mina frowned.
Midnight smiled mischievously. "Don't worry, Ellie-chan, I'll hold you-."
"Over my dead body." I hissed and swatted her away from me.
Midnight giggled at this, "Ellie-chan is just too cute."
Somehow, I got suckered into watching a scary movie with them all, most of which I watched through my blanket. It would probably give me nightmares for weeks. I really hated scary things. The boys decided to join us for the scary movie and most of the students laughed at my expense as I hid under a blanket throughout the movie.
"Is it over yet?!" I panicked causing everyone to laugh.
"Ellie, it's only twenty minutes in." Toru giggled.
"So, it's close?"
"Jeez you're such a baby." Bakugo huffed as he dropped onto the sofa beside me, scooting Aoyama out of the way. His sudden appearance startled me and I let out a squeak of terror which appeared to have alarmed Baby Might. A jolt of electricity shot from my body and launched toward Bakugo. He barely managed to get out of the way, "What the hell, hag?!"
"It was the baby, you idiot!" I snapped, "Don't startle me!"
"Control your child!" He snarled back at me.
"Don't yell at my child you little shit!" I growled back as I popped out from under my blanket and caught the angry blonde in a headlock.
"I was yelling at you!" Bakugo glowered as he attempted to break from my hold, to no avail.
"Baby Might, zap the anger management hedgehog." I grumbled. A small spark of electric energy shot from me, shocking Bakugo in the process.
"Ow! What the hell?!" He raged.
The rest of the students and Midnight watched the pair of us not sure if they should laugh, try to break us up or just ignore what was happening. Most of them went with the latter save for Midoriya who was frantically flitting about telling us not to fight and worrying over my condition. He was so much like Toshinori. He'd make a great hero one day.
