Chapter Forty One
~Ellie's POV~
I woke feeling well rested and finally back to normal. Toshinori insisted on staying home to take care of me over the past two days until I recovered from my cold. Though I didn't like to be fawned over and pampered, it was nice knowing he was safe at home with me rather than out in public when the world knew how vulnerable he was. As I rolled to the edge of the bed and prepared to get up, I paused as I spotted an army of cute duckies lined up in an adorable marching order covering every square inch of the floor in our bedroom.
A giggle escaped me as I looked at all the cute duckies. There were a handful of plain ones, the majority were All Might themed duckies though there were a few other costumed duckies too. Smiling, I sat up in bed and glanced around the room to find Toshinori leaning in the doorway with a smile on his face. Most were ducks I already had but I noticed a few new ones in the mix. Sitting atop my nightstand was an All Might duck next to a ducky with wind streaks painted on it and in between them was a tiny baby ducky with lightning bolts on it. Tears welled in my eyes as I looked at our little ducky family, my hormones were getting the best of me. Everything made me emotional.
"Ellie?" Toshinori asked worried before realizing it was going to be difficult to get to me without stepping on ducks and panicked for a moment.
"Our very own ducky family." I sniffled and he relaxed as he realized I was crying because of the hormones and nothing was wrong.
"If you didn't have such an aversion to transportation, we could have a ducky family decal." He teased me.
"Pfft, what's the point in having a car, I can get us anywhere we need to go." I rolled my eyes and prepared to get out of bed but realized I was completely surrounded by ducks and had no escape. I tossed the covers aside and used a gust of wind to carry me over to Toshinori. He caught me in his arms with a smile and kissed me on the forehead to check my temperature.
"Feeling better?" He asked with a warm smile as I wrapped my arms around him.
"Mhm. Toshi-chan is the best nurse." I kissed him sweetly on the lips.
He kissed me back and carried me down the hall to the nursery. "I made a few adjustments."
"You sure that's wise? I'm pregnant I have zero control over what I do if I don't like it." I frowned.
Toshinori chuckled and gently set me on my feet. "I think you'll like it." He reached in front of me and opened the door.
A soft gasp escaped me and my eyes grew misty as I spotted a cute mobile hanging above the crib, it had plush duckies dressed in various All Might costumes. Toshinori lightly nudged me forward. I made my way over to the crib and lightly touched one of the soft plush ducks hanging above the crib and nearly jumped as they started to spin slowly. Music played overhead and I felt my heart swell as I heard the song we had our first dance to at our wedding playing.
"Ellie?" Toshinori rushed to my side as I stood frozen in front of the crib. My emotions were going insane, I was so happy and so sad and I didn't know why I was sad. I broke the moment he placed a warm gentle hand on my shoulder.
I turned and burrowed into his arms with a cry. "I love you!" Tears and snot streamed down my face as I turned into a blubbering mess.
Toshinori struggled to catch me in his arms and held me tight. "I love you." He kissed the top of my head. "So, you like it?" He surmised with a chuckle.
"Of course, I like it you idiot!" I cried.
"Ellie really is too cute for words." He grinned as he soothingly rubbed my back trying to calm my crying fit.
We went downstairs once I'd stopped crying and Toshinori helped me mop up my face. I took one look at the kitchen and shot Toshinori a glare as I spotted a few empty takeout boxes spilling out of the trashcan.
"Toshinori!"
He jumped and followed my gaze before smiling sheepishly, "I didn't want to disturb you and I couldn't leave you alone to go to the store."
I frowned at this and used the wind to pick up a light blue binder sitting atop the fridge next to a few other recipe books. It flew toward him and he struggled to catch it before looking down at it blankly as he read the cover.
"Toshinori's Emergency Survival Guide...Huh?" He flipped open the binder to find a plethora of recipes I'd compiled that were simple enough for him to make so he could still have healthy meals. I'd started on it after the Training Camp and my recovery in the hospital. A smile lit up his face. "You made this for me?"
"If something happens to me, I need to know you can feed yourself properly." I huffed.
Toshinori's smile fell, "What do you mean? What's going to happen to you?"
I hesitated not sure if I should tell him or not. After I'd recovered after the fight with All for One, I talked to Nezu about getting my hero license. Because I was once a registered villain the process worked a little differently for me to obtain my hero license, rather than taking the test, my skills as a villain were reviewed and I had to have the support of at least five pro heroes in good standing. The process had gotten finalized right before I'd gotten sick and I didn't know the right time to tell Toshinori.
"Ellie?"
I sighed and walked over to the small pile of mail sitting on the edge of the counter before rifling through it quickly. At the bottom of the pile was my acceptance letter and shiny new hero license. Hesitantly I handed him the opened envelope.
"What's this?"
"You still want to save everyone..." I lowered my gaze. "So, I'll do it...on your behalf...because you're still The Symbol of Peace and the world needs to know you're still looking out for them..." I chewed on my lower lip as he pulled out the license.
"You're an official hero?" He asked in awe as he held the license in his hand. A single tear slipped down his cheek as he beamed with pride, "Lady Might." He grinned at my hero name, "...it suits you..."
"That idiot, Loudmouth turned in the paperwork and changed it, he almost got away with Mommy Might, had Midnight not stopped him. I'm still not happy with it." I huffed. I don't' know why I thought it was a good idea to let Present Mic turn in the paperwork for me. I should have known he'd change my hero name from Tempest to something All Might related. At first, I didn't want my name to be associated with his because I didn't want to make him look bad but on second thought it was probably for the best since he was the only reason, I was willing to save people. It was all for him.
"I thought you didn't want to be a hero." Toshinori frowned slightly as he set the letter back on the counter and turned to me. His fingers gently swept beneath my chin tilting my face upward drawing my gaze to his.
"I didn't." I grumbled.
"So why would you?"
"Because...you think you can't save people anymore, but you're wrong. I'll do it, for you."
"I don't understand. Why would you do something you don't want to do, for me?" He asked, touched.
"Because I love you and I just want you to be happy." I sniffled.
Toshinori wrapped his arms around me pulling me close. He cradled me against him, "Ellie, really is the number one wife." He choked as he tried to fight back tears.
I wrapped my arms around him ready to turn into a blubbering mess for the second time that day when I felt a strange fluttering sensation in my lower abdomen. The baby was moving. I gasped and Toshinori release me in a panic thinking he'd crushed me.
"Ellie, what is it?"
"The baby's moving." I smiled and grabbed his hand in mine before placing it to my teeny tiny baby bump. It took a moment before I found the spot. Toshinori's eyes lit up as the baby moved again.
He grinned, "I can feel it."
My heart swelled at this. He looked so in awe, it was endearing and reminded me of how blissfully happy I was to be his wife. We stood in a tender embrace for a long moment taking turns trying to feel the baby as he moved around. Toshinori reluctantly pulled away as he glanced at the clock.
"What is it?" I frowned.
"I was going to head to UA if you were feeling better." He said somewhat guiltily. "Young Midoriya had some questions about One for All."
I smiled, "I'm feeling fine and I'll go with you." Aizawa probably needed help with my students anyway and I was sure they were all worried about me, since they all had brain damage.
Toshinori pressed his lips to my forehead once more to check my temperature and make sure I hadn't turned feverish again. He smiled, satisfied after his check, "Alright." He went to clean up the ducks littering our bedroom floor as I changed out of my pajamas and into a long flowing grey t-shirt and a pair of black leggings.
Once he'd finished up cleaning the bedroom, Toshinori joined me on the porch. He smiled as he stepped outside and found me sitting atop the porch looking out at the ocean. I turned to him and extended my hand to him to help me to my feet. Now that my baby bump was starting to grow, I was noticing a lot of backaches.
"Ready?" Toshinori asked as he helped me to my feet.
I smiled and a strong gust of wind swept around us carrying us to UA campus. We landed swiftly on one of the practice fields just as the morning classes were about to begin. There was a loud cheer from some of the students as we made our entrance.
"ELLIE!" I heard Toru's voice above the rest and struggled to catch the invisible girl in my arms as she ran to hug me.
I reached up and pat her on the head with a smile. "Hey, Invisible one."
"Are you feeling better?" She asked me with a smile in her voice.
"I am. Thank you." I ruffled her hair. It felt somewhat lighter than before, "You cut your hair." I noted.
"I did!" She giggled, "You're the only one who's noticed though."
"You do know that nobody can see you right." I smirked.
"Yeah, I know." She sighed. I had a feeling there was another girl talk in my future.
"Talk to me after class." I gave her another pat on the head before sending her on her way. Toshinori gave me a quick peck on the cheek before heading to the main building after waving farewell to the students.
After class was over and my general studies students returned to the main building with Aizawa and the majority of his students I turned to find Toru shifting her weight from foot to foot nervously. I draped my arm around her shoulders and walked her toward the main building far enough away from the others so we would be out of earshot.
"What's wrong?"
"Nobody else noticed that I cut my hair." She sighed, "And I made a real effort to look extra cute today."
"You mean one person in particular hasn't noticed?" I mused as I looked to Ojiro walking ahead of us.
Toru shrank a little at my words, "Maybe."
I smiled. "Don't worry so much, he's young it'll be awhile before he gets smart about these kinds of things."
Toru giggled at this, "Thanks, Ellie." She paused after a moment, "Hey, Ellie?"
"Hm?"
"Can we have a girl's day?" She clapped her hands together excitedly.
"Huh?!" I nearly tripped. "What? Why?"
Toru giggled. "It's fun and relaxing. Please?!" Though I couldn't see her I had a feeling she was pouting at me.
I sighed. "Will it make you feel better?"
Toru nodded, I could feel the shift in the wind. "Mhm."
"Fine."
Toru clapped her hands together with glee. "Yay!"
The rest of the morning went by pretty quickly. In the afternoon I followed Toshinori to look in on class 1A as they trained their quirks. Despite Toshinori being stuck in his weakened form and no longer being able to use his quirk, he still wanted to help as much as possible to shape the next generation of heroes. It looked like they were all till working on their ultimate moves.
Midnight was helping Shota observe the students as Ectoplasm created several clones of himself to train with each student. Shota turned as Toshinori and I stepped through the doors. He shook his head as Midnight sprinted toward me with a squeal.
"Ellie-chan!"
"Ah! No! Stay away!" I squealed and hurriedly put Toshinori between us.
"Ellie-chan you should know by now its more fun when you run away." Midnight laughed.
"EEP!" I squeaked as she caught me in her arms and pulled me into a hug. "Let go! Hentai Freak!"
Midnight laughed as she held me tight. "You're so cute, Ellie-chan."
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Toshinori step forward to get a better look at the students progress with their quirks. I heard the sound of a familiar blast in the distance. The sound of crumbling rock met my ears. I heard Bakugo shout something and noticed Aizawa trying to jump into action. My body moved on its own roughly shoving Midnight away from me before swiveling around in time to see Toshinori about to be smashed by a massive piece of rubble. A strong wind swirled around him wrenching him toward me as a flurry of screeching gale force winds shredded the massive piece of rubble into tiny bits of rock and dust.
Toshinori appeared at my side and looked over at me with a warm smile. "Thank you, Ellie."
"Are you alright?" I asked him worried.
Bakugo was standing atop one of the giant pillars constructed for the students to practice on staring down at us in a daze. I knew he hadn't meant to cause any harm, he respected All Might and would never want to hurt him. He was annoyed with himself he didn't think he was progressing fast enough and lashed out.
"Watch yourself, All Might!" He snapped.
"Huh?" I scowled up at him, "What the hell did you say?" A strong gust of wind scooped up the surly teen and dropped him in front of me. "What was that, punk?"
Bakugo looked like he was beating himself up internally. His instinct was to lash out but he managed to compose himself and grumble, "I'm sorry."
Toshinori smiled and ruffled the teen's spiky dusty blonde hair, "No harm done." He draped his other arm around my shoulders, "Thanks to Lady Might."
My face burned at this, "Sh-shut up! D-don't call me that, idiot!" I snarled.
Bakugo looked between the two of us curiously.
"What's wrong with Lady Might? I think its an adorable hero name for you, Ellie." Midnight piped up.
"You're a hero now?" Bakugo asked me warily.
"I guess." I shrugged.
"Does this mean you're going to be nicer?" Shota poked at me as he joined the conversation now that the danger had passed.
I shot him a glare, "What do you think?"
He shook his head, "Should have known it was too good to be true."
