Chapter Fifty Nine

~Ellie's POV~

I woke up with a start as something tiny and solid suddenly barreled into me. "What the-?" I cut off as I spotted Eri clinging to me with tears in her eyes. "Eri? What's wrong?" I asked groggily. It was the middle of the night.

"I had a bad dream." She clung to me tightly. It didn't look like she was going to be able to go back to sleep anytime soon.

I wrapped my arms around her and held her close, "well, that's alright. I get bad dreams sometimes, too." When I chanced a glance in Toshinori's direction I realized he was out like a light and wouldn't be waking anytime soon.

"You do?" She sniffled, refusing to let me go.

I nodded, "and do you know what helps?"

She shook her head, "what?"

"I'll show you." I smiled and slowly got out of bed with her in my arms.

Toshiniori stirred a little as I left the bed but didn't fully wake up. I couldn't help but smile as he began to mumble in his sleep, "Ellie is the number one wife."

Eri giggled softly in my arms.

"Such a fanboy." I grumbled.

Eri looked down at my All Might onesie and giggled again.

I carried her downstairs where the christmas trees were aglow before turning on one of her new favorite cartoons. It was a my little pony rip off but instead of ponies all the characters were cats, it was disgustingly adorable and she and the twins loved it. Eri started to relax and her tears subsided as I sat her on the kitchen counter and began my search for ingredients.

"What are you doing?" She asked softly.

"Baking cookies." I smiled.

Eri grinned and hopped off the counter to help me. We whipped up a batch of festive peppermint mocha chip cookies before I warmed up some milk with a touch of honey adding a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg on top. I loaded up a tray with cookies and our steamed milk and carried them to the living room before curling up on the sofa to watch the grotesquely feel good-y cartoon.

Eri snuggled up beside me nibbling at the cookies we made and sipping at her steamed milk. She got half a cookie in before she drifted back to sleep. I smiled and set her cup and half eaten cookie back on the tray before bundling her up with a blanket.

"Ellie?" Toshinori's groggy voice sounded softly from the stairs, "did you have a bad dream?" He asked as he stepped into the living room before spotting Eri in my arms, "ah, did Eri have a bad dream?"

I nodded.

"Good thing Mommy Might is an expert on how to handle nightmares." He smiled somberly.

"It's been awhile since I've had one, thanks to you." I replied softly.

His smile brightened a little. "I'll take her back up to bed." He glanced down at my bandaged arm and I had a feeling he wanted to tell me it was irresponsible to have carried her down here in the first place, but he didn't.

He returned a little while later and chuckled as he saw me starting to drift to sleep halfway through my steamed milk. He took the cup from my hands and put the cookies in a tin and the dishes in the sink before returning to scoop me into his arms.

"We should figure out how we're handling Santa." I murmured.

"Huh?" Toshinori looked down at me curiously.

"Flame Face owes me, maybe we could convince him to play the part and come down the chimney to deliver toys to Eri and the twins." I pondered the idea some more.

Toshinori chuckled, "I fear Endeavor may be too terrifying of a Santa."

"That's half the fun, when they get older we can wage war against Santa for more presents." I grinned.

Toshinori choked on a laugh, "I don't think that's how Christmas works."

"Half the fun about Christmas is starting new traditions." I smiled and rested my head against his shoulder, "I'll ask him."

Toshinori laughed, "I don't see this ending well. Christmas is supposed to be joyous and snowy, not horrifying and hellfire-y."

I smiled. "Says who?"

Toshinori chuckled, "I'm beginning to understand why Aizawa was confused about his Godfather role." His phone buzzed in his pocket and I threw him a curious look wondering what sort of notification he was receiving at this hour. He glanced down at his phone and a big grin broke out across his face.

"What is it?" I asked curiously wondering what had made him so happy.

He turned his phone toward me, it was the newest hero ranking. I was having trouble reading it because he was so excited he couldn't keep his hand still. Sighing, I caught him by the wrist to steady the phone. Lady Might was ranked number three overall with a higher approval rating than Endeavor.

"HA!" I cackled, "in that jerk's face, people like me more." I scrambled to find my phone.

"You have his number?" Toshinori asked with a chuckle as I started dialing.

"For instances like this to rub shit in his face." I huffed.

"Mhm." Toshinori snickered.

"There's no other reason!" I snapped.

"Right. Right." Toshinori was trying so hard not to burst out laughing.

"I mean it! I hate that piece of flaming garbage!" I growled.

"Mhm, he's not your best friend or anything." Toshinori smirked.

"Hell no!" I snarled.

"What the hell?!" Endeavor's voice growled as he finally answered his phone, "Ellie? Do you have any idea what time it is?"

"My approval rating is higher than yours, suck on that Flame Face!" I cackled before hanging up the phone.

Toshinori fell over laughing.

My phone started vibrating almost angrily as Endeavor called me back. I sent him to voicemail with an evil grin causing Toshinori to lose it all over again.

"He's going to show up on our doorstep." Toshinori laughed.

"He is not." I rolled my eyes.

"If not within the next few minutes then definitely first thing in the morning." Toshinori pointed.

"He's not that petty!"

A thundering knock sounded from the front door.

"Holy shit he is that petty." I frowned and went to open the door before it was knocked off its hinges by his violent onslaught of thundering knocks. "What the hell?!" I growled as I hurled the door open.

"That's my line!" Endeavor growled at me, he was wearing a pair of blue and white striped pajamas that seemed like something they just gave out in senior homes. Did he rob an Old Man on his way here?

"The hell are you wearing?" I giggled.

"You have no room to talk." Endeavor snarled at me and motioned to my All Might pajamas, "do you have any idea what time it is?!"

"You're the one invading my home." I folded my arms across my chest.

His gaze fell on the bandages around my burned arm and his expression shifted. His lips pulled into a frown and it looked as if his eyes were clouded by guilt.

"What the hell are you doing?!" I scowled at him and punched him in the gut with my bandaged arm causing him to double over.

"Ellie?!" Toshinori yelped and scrambled to apprehend me thinking I was going to attack Endeavor again.

"What was that for?!" Endeavor snarled.

"Stop looking all guilty, it's weird and gross." I snapped as Toshinori wrapped his arms around me to hold me back.

"What?!" Endeavor glowered at me angrily as he rubbed his now sore abdomen.

"Why the hell are you here anyway?" I grumbled as I shrugged out of Toshinori's hold.

"You called out of the blue in the middle of the night, I assumed something was wrong." Endeavor glared at me.

"You were worried about Ellie?" Toshinori asked with a smile.

"Gross! Don't you get brain damage too Flame Face!" I snapped.

"I wasn't worried, it's my job to help people." Endeavor growled.

"What on earth made you think I needed help?" I frowned, "I was just calling to tell you I was better than you."

"What?!" Endeavor stared at me in awe.

I grabbed Toshinori's phone and showed him the rating, "see ranked third overall but higher approval rating than you, suck it." I stuck my tongue out at him.

"You called me in the middle of the night for that?!" Endeavor roared.

"Yeah, weren't you listening?!" I rolled my eyes.

Toshinori chuckled. "Would you like to come in for tea and cookie-?"

"NO!" Endeavor snapped and turned on his heel to storm away. "The hell is wrong with you people?!"

"Hey! Flame Face!" I called after him as he got to the bottom of the porch steps.

"What?!" He turned on me with a scowl.

"How do you feel about playing as Santa for the kiddos?" I pondered.

"Excuse me?" He glowered at me threateningly.

"You heard me." I glared back.

"Wasn't this supposed to be a polite conversation?" Toshinori asked worriedly, wondering why we both looked murderous.

"I AM BEING POLITE!" Endeavor and I snapped in unison causing Toshinori to choke on a laugh.

"My mistake." Toshinori chuckled and left to make tea.

"So do you already have a costume or will you need to rent one?" I asked.

"There's no way in hell I'm wearing such a ridiculous costume!" He growled.

I smirked. "I'll call my guy."

"Ellie!" Endeavor yelled.

"I'll send you the address for your first trial run. Gotta practice before you try it with my kiddos." I beamed.

"Are you even listening to me?!" Endeavor roared.

"See ya." I grinned and closed the door.
