Hruday's POV:

Some how Krithi managed to sleep very peacefully beside me. And Ronit who occupied the passenger seat and much to my displeasure is furiously typing away on his mobile.

But here I'm fuming with anger. How the hell did they get so close??

That too in a single day, not even a complete day. More than half of the day she is with me then how???

Is there some sort of flashback between them?
What the hell!!

Why am I sounding like one of those female lead roles in Hindi Dramas who are way too curious about everything and come up with extraordinary conclusions on their own??

I was snapped out of my thoughts when our car came to halt with a jerk.

"What happened Krishna uncle?" I asked our driver. He has been working for us since 25 years and he is more like a family to us.

"I don't know Hruday, maybe some accident. Crowd is gathered there," Uncle said.

Immediately my doctor instincts urged me to get down and reach the place. I may not be able to treat him completely with the resources here but I can provide a bit of first aid.

I saw a man lying on the road breathing heavily and I rushed towards him pushing the crowd that are around him adding to his already present suffocation.

I kneeled beside him, just then I felt someone kneeling before me.

It was krithi, I hadn't expected her to come this quickly with her heavy dress.

Her peaceful sleepy face is replaced by a worried one.

Her eyes are completely focused  on the person and a cute frown formed between her brows.

She looked at me and said -- "what do you think happened to him? Is it really an accident? I mean he does not have any major external injuries!!!"

I reminded myself that now is not the time to study krithi's features.

"Umm... yes, it's an accident, maybe he was crushed by some vehicle, look at the way his shirt tore. The impact maybe of short duration and taking into consideration that he is a obese person, it's traumatic asphyxia, " I said checking his pulse.

"Ooo... that's a rare case in accidents, maybe we should give him CPR," Krithi said and started to compress his chest.

"Wait.." his pulse is weak and his breathing labored.

I saw his neck veins distended  and I turned to ask Krishna uncle to bring first aid kit in my car.

But uncle has already brought the kit. I gave him a nod and took the kit.

I took my stethoscope and checked his heart beat. It is rapid and I can hear distant muffled sounds.

"What are you doing Hruday? Let's give him CPR, we are losing him with time, " krithi yelled at me.

"We shouldn't, he is having cardiac tamponade. We must drain the fluid before he develops pulmonary edema and shock, " I told her.

"Hey Man, can you see me?" I asked him.

He said a yes, I asked his name to which he responded.

"His consciousness is not effected yet, we have to be quick, we shouldn't let his brain get affected, " I told krithi and she nodded a yes.

"How long has he been like this?" I asked surrounding people.

"Around 20 minutes sir," a man responded.

"What are you doing this whole time? Did you at least call the Ambulance?" I asked them irritated.

They said yes. They could have taken him to nearby hospital instead of surrounding and suffocating him further.

How come people become so careless when it comes to others lives!!

"But Hruday in order to perform pericardiocentesis you need much equipment, at least you need needle and ECG monitoring, " Krithi said.

"I know, but we don't have time krithi. It's already been so much time. Trust me, I have performed this before and ambulance is on the way. Assist me as much as you can," I told her calmly and started searching the kit for a needle.

Me being a surgeon, I keep an advanced kit with me.

She got the needle and handled me, I looked at her suddenly doubting my ability.

'Can I do this? Of course I have performed this before but it is in operation theatre, not outside and most specifically not on a crowded road.'

Krithi held my hand and gave me a reassuring look.

"You can do it Hruday, I trust you!!!"

I don't know whether it is due to her words or her trust on me or my urge to prove myself to her, I got my whole confidence.

I took the needle, fixed it, placed it below his xiphoid process in a 45 degrees angle and directed the needle towards his left shoulder blade.

I looked at her and she nodded at me, that was it, I can do this.

I started pushing the needle but just then we heard the ambulance approaching.

'Ooh!! Thank my goodness'

As fast as we could, we transferred him into the Ambulance taking into care not to affect much of his movements.

We did a quick ultrasound and confirmed it as cardiac tamponade.

I performed the pericardiocentesis and drained as much fluid as I could.

The doctor in Ambulance gave him I.V. Dextran and the patients fluid state is stabilised.

His pulse and blood pressure increased, breathing normalised. The waves are slowly returning to normal in the E.C.G.

But we still need to treat the cause of tamponade to completely cure him, so I decided to stay and reach the hospital.

But the doctor in the Ambulance asked us to leave because by looking at our clothes he figured out that we came from some kind of party.

He also told me that he recognized  me as he worked under my Father during his Internship.

Making sure that the patient is ok, krithi and I started to move towards our car.

The crowd has cleared and traffic is as normal as it can be on a busy day.

By the time we reached the car, uncle and Ronit are leaning against the car, as soon as we reached them Ronit started his usual barking.

"What had just happened? Devasena,your sleep and laziness disappeared as soon as you came to know about the accident. You acted like a cheetah. And you bro, how come you were so confident about yourself? And I must say you both looked like a perfect couple with excellent understanding ."

"That's a doctor thing, you'll never understand. Let's get into car and get going. I don't want Mom to worry about us at this late hour," with this I dismissed him and entered the  car.

After me, driver uncle also entered the car but krithi and Ronit are still talking outside.

I expected them to get inside the car in a minute. One minute turned to five minutes, but they are still outside talking with each other like two childhood friends who met accidentally after many years.

Well, my patience is wearing down and it snapped when I saw krithi laughing for some silly joke Ronny said.

I felt a strange burn in my chest. Looks like they really enjoy being outside.

I asked uncle to start driving. Even though he was a bit reluctant, he did as I said after looking at my stern expression.

After reaching a short distance I asked uncle to stop the car.

Within one minute of stopping, they both entered the car breathing hard.

"Are you crazy, Hruday??? " Krithi said.

"Of course!! He is crazy. Do you even have to ask him that? ," Ronit said huffing.

"You should thought about it before you stood outside cackling like witches instead of whining afterwards," I warned them like a teacher and asked uncle to start the car.

After reaching our home Ronit bid us goodbye as he is staying at his friend's house for this night and the next day.

The car drove off and I felt as if my burden is going away with him.

Huff.....

While passing our garden Krithi asked -- " Hruday, do you think I'm a bad doctor?"

I looked at her confused and asked "why".

She said -- " I wrongly diagnosed the case and the patient could have died due to my foolishness!! "

"That was not your fault krithi. What we have come across is a rare case and all doctors are trained on common basics. Every sane doctor in your place could have thought the same."

"That too you are a gynecologist, so you might not have much idea about all these cardiac problems, let alone rare cases."

"But I'm a surgeon, I frequently come across cases like these and I'm experienced than you. So don't feel bad, you proposed the most useful treatment for your knowledge, " I told her and looked at her.

She gave me satisfying look and a heart whelming smile!!

Don't know whether its true or trick of light,I saw a sparkle in her eyes but this is the way how I always wanted her to look at me.

We reached the main door but none of us knocked the door, we are busy staring at each other.

"Sorry for the disturbance but if you please excuse me, I'll get inside and you people can continue staring at each other the whole night here if you like!! " Dad interrupted our moment.

Krithi looked down blushing with crimson red on her cheeks, I looked at my dad and winked.

He winked back at me and asked me how the patient's condition is. 

"How do you know dad?" Krithi asked dad with a puzzled expression and he gave a small laugh.

"As you people are late and not attending calls, your mom got worried and called Krishna. He told us about  the situation out there. Well, we are used to such situations, so she cooled down a bit and started showing off saying 'he is my son afterall'.

She also ordered me to wait for her lovely son and DIL that too outside in this freezing weather," Dad made a sad face and We all laughed at him. 

Dad bid us goodnight and left for his room not before winking another time at us.

We entered our room and Krithi went into the washroom to fresh up and I settled on the couch to wait for her till she came so that I can fresh up after her and have a good night's sleep after this tiresome day.

Why this girl have to take so long to freshen up??

Krithi came out wearing a cute pink night dress and I'm already  looking at her and started walking towards her when she glanced in my direction.

I went to her and raised my hand to touch her cheek, I don't know with what intention my hand raised.

But she moved away even before my hand touched her cheek and I too am shocked looking at her thinking what she might have thought I'm going to do and I immediately rushed into the washroom.

I came out of the washroom to see Krithi sleeping peacefully resting her head on the pillow.

Immediately I thought of yesterday night's events, where she left me with no sleep.

But however I'm thankful that she is sleeping on the normal side instead of opposite side. 

I turned off the lights and closed my eyes and I felt some movement on the bed and opened my eyes.

I saw her moving normally to get comfortable position I think.

And I tried to initiate conversation on the topic that is occupying and invading my mind completely knowing that she is not asleep yet. 

"You people became quite close in less than one day haan!! "

Krithi turned to my side and gave me a quizzical look which was replaced by a wide smile when she caught up on what I was saying.

"Yup. He is very Jovial. One can't resist such a charming person like him, " She replied smiling.

"Oho..look at you. You look so happy as if meeting a long lost friend! " I told her while gritting my teeth.

"Yep. We connected immediately. This is one of the nice things I got from this Marriage. I'm feelin... " her words are stucked in the middle as I didn't let her finish.

I pinned her to the bed with my both hands on either side of her head holding her wrists.

With every statement of her she raised something which I can't point out in me and I'm feeling as if killing someone ironic to my profession of saving lifes.

I looked at her face and saw that she closed her eyes tightly as if I'm going to bite her.

Hmm. Looks like she is afraid of me. Good.

I leaned my face further down.  I have this sudden urge to kiss the life out of her and show her whom she belongs to.  

She opened her eyes slowly and her eyes widened immediately  on seeing how close my face is to hers.

"Hruday... What... Are... You... Doing?" She replied stammering at every word.

"So you are feeling comfortable with all persons except your husband and you feel all other persons on the earth charming but not your husband... " I said in a silent tone.

I further dipped my head and licked her ear with my tongue. I'm quite enjoying doing this and her expressions are marvelous.

And I don't know what happened next. She pushed my hands and instead of falling sideways I fell directly on her with my lips on her. 

All happened in a speck of time that I could not even register what happened!!!

Her smooth, plump lips are pressed against mine and we remained like that for a minute.

I don't want to leave this chance and I started kissing her lips gently. But she appears to be still in shock. 

And after few seconds she tried to wriggle out from under me but I pinned her to the bed in all ways possible.

" Just kiss me krithi!!!" I whispered against her lips.

I bite her lower lip gently and she winced at it but I tried to ease her pain by smoothly touching her lips with mine.

She stopped resisting and I felt happy for that...

I'm desperately waiting for her to kiss me and that's when I felt her lips move against mine and she is struggling to kiss me.

Maybe this is her first time to kiss someone with her own will.

I'm very much enjoying the kiss which gave me peace don't know why until we both fell out of our breath. 

We parted away to take some much needed air and I looked at her to see her eyes widen.

Ohoo!! Now this little kitten of mine came to know her brave act of kissing me.

She is staring at me with a look of pure horror.

I don't know why I get so much pleasure just from frightening her. May be because she looks so cute with her wide eyes.

"Okay now that we have completed the first phase how about we continue to the next phase by getting rid off our modesty?? "
