Krithi's POV :

I glared at him and tried to slap him...

I'm really furious right now. What does he think of himself??

He decided my marriage, my life...
He announced himself as my fiance in front of everyone !!!
He didn't give me a chance to choose the most important thing in my life.

I'm even angry on myself.
I'm letting him walk all over me.
I wanted to make myself free from his stupid game.

Before my hand could come in contact with his cheek he grabbed my wrist.

I struggled to free myself from his grip. But he is too strong for me.

He gripped my chin with his other hand. I used my other hand to let myself free. But he gripped that too.

I stared at him shocked as I didn't expect this move from him.

I can see the rage in his eyes. Then he started looking all over my face and finally settled his eyes on my lips, which formed in a 'O' shape due to his push.

His brown orbs darkened slightly.

Right now my heart is beating wildly as if it is trying to come out of my ribcage.

But I'm caught off guard when he pulled me towards him.

And I end up hitting his chest with my head. This proximity is making me nervous.

He smirked at my reaction and wrapped his arms around my waist bringing me closer if possible.

"How are you enjoying the
popularity, my would be wife." he asked me again in a mocking tone.

I glared at him--- " Why the hell did you make it public? Don't you have manners to ask my permission once before doing so. For god's sake we are not even engaged. "

His eyes turned red with anger and his grip tightened around me.

" Look who is talking about making relation public?!! " he told me in an accusing tone.

I stared at him blankly not getting his point of accusation.

"Why are you talking as if I'm the person who spread the news? And why the heck are you hell bent on making my life hell for me? "

Just then we heard mam's voice outside the cabin.

He loosened his grip suddenly which made me to stumble backwards but I balanced myself.

I remained like that. And Hruday returned to his earlier place. Meanwhile mam entered the cabin.

"Mam... I will tell Dr. Sravya about this and if any complication arises in the case, I will let you know," with that I came out.

I took a deep breath and was about to walk to the ward when I felt his breath near my ear and his lips whispered--
"See you in our engagement."

I looked back only to see him walking away.

Why is he doing all this? What will he get in return?

I'm sure it is not because of love or atleast attraction.

For a handsome man like him he could get any girl but why me of all??

I wanted to speak to my parents about my decision.
But I couldn't after this morning's incident.

Flashback

In the morning, When I'm about to enter kitchen for breakfast,I heard my parents talking seriously.

If it was some other day I would have walked away assuming its their normal chit chat. But what made me stop today is when I heard about shruti, my cousin.

Why are they talking about her suddenly?!

I tried to listen their conversation keenly.

" I'm glad that our krithi accepted the proposal. I thought that it would be negative response from our side if she declines. Gladly krithi acceped it. But I'm afraid what if our krithi also would follow Shruti's foot steps. Remember what she did. If that happens in our house I would feel really shameful "
My mom said.

"No... Sakshi, don't think like that. Though krithi is against this marriage thing from the beginning, she seems like accepting the marriage. Even you saw, how our son in law is taking care of us. He really likes our daughter I can say by the way he looks at her. He will take good care of her, I'm sure of that."

"Thank all the gods she is finally getting married, ofcourse the light of our house will go away with her but seeing our princess as a bride is worth it."

Shruti is one of my cousins, she is silent and very shy. 2 years back she got a marriage proposal.

She was in love with someone else but she is afraid to tell her parents and she chose to inform her parents just before the day of her engagement.

Bad timing coz by that time the news was spread to all relatives and everyone attended the engagement 1 day before itself.

Why I remember all this because my family was there when she confessed everything.

We went to congratulate her parents and just then she came and told everything to her parents.

I still remember the hurt and disappointment in her parents eyes, the shame they felt to inform everyone that the engagement is cancelled.

I remember how aunty wept after that.

I felt really sorry for them and even though I love her I was very angry at her that time, she shouldn't have agreed in the first place or should have told about her feelings.

But right now I'm also in the same position as her.

I agreed to an unwanted proposal but I don't even have a love life as an excuse.

Especially I don't want to see the disappointment and hurt in my parents eyes.

I bother less about the name I get, but I care more for my parents and their feelings.

They have already informed all my relatives making sure I'm into this relationship yesterday.

May be this is not the right time, I never did any wrong to anyone then why is god doing this to me?

Lets hope for the best!!!

With that I entered kitchen, greeted them, ate the tiffin in silence and left for hospital.

Present

I entered the ward and
All my colleagues are giving me curious looks.

On the day of my so called ---

**Engagement** :

I'm sitting in front of mirror thinking about anything and everything just to distract myself... and my cousin Sneha is doing my makeup.

My house is filled with relatives. My parents are busy doing arrangements.

You know... My cousin Sneha is good at makeup, so here she is doing my makeup and she is also one of the best photographer I know.

She is Multi-talented... I know. She is one of my closest maternal cousins.

She is making me laugh by her jokes. She is so against marriages.

So she told me some jokes involving
marriages, like ---

**Arranged marriages are like walking casually and unfortunately a snake bites you. **

**Love marriages are like dancing in front of cobra and shouting --
' bite me!! '**

"There is no much difference krithi... Although names are different they lead to same consequences finally."

I laughed at her comparison and she joined me in laughing.

"So.. What type does your marriage belong to?" she asked me curiously.

I gave a nervous smile as I don't know what to answer.

Just then my mom came in between and asked her--- "Don't make such jokes, sneha. It's her engagement and your jokes may change her mind, " she said smiling at us.

Sneha scoffed at my mother's comment and we laughed at her.

Now my photo session is done by none other than sneha.

She made me stand in different poses and I'm doing it as I have no other option but to bear all this.

At first I was so stiff. Then Sneha started making jokes making me forget about my engagement.

I started posing like a 'model
( 😜 No offence).

I am really close to all my cousins. Whenever we meet we enjoy ourselves with so much gossip and pranks.

As for my best friends, Bala is already there at hotel and he is helping my parents with the arrangements.

But Tapaswi is still not here and when I called her she is like 'wait baba!!!! Don't you want me to look beautiful in your engagement?'

I wonder how much time she'll take when it comes to her engagement or wedding.

It's been an hour!!!!!!

"Krithiii!!! "I heard the voice of stupid before she crashed me into a hug.

Finally man....She arrived. Thank all the lords.

"Tapaswi !! Thank you so much coming this early and helping me get ready.. " I said with a sarcastic smile.

She frowned at me and said, "Oh come on Krithi !! You have a great makeup artist like sne.... I don't have any!! " She faked a sad face and we both rolled our eyes.

"By the way, you look beautiful Krithi. I am sure Hruday will not be able to look away from you. " she started gushing about me.

I just sat there listening to her rants. Just then my other cousin Shristi came and informed us that Hruday's family arrived and we should start early.

We reached the hotel hurriedly in our red Honda city car.

All my cousins rushed inside to get a glimpse of Hruday but stupid stayed back with me.

She held my hand and said, " I know what you are feeling Krithi. Just stay positive. Everything will be fine. If anything happens I'm always here for you. "

Sneha joined us and we all followed her to see the dias, for engagement which is set up beautifully with daliyah flowers and we walked there.

I saw all my cousins giggling and whispering among themselves.

My mom came to me and looked at me with awe. "You look soo beautiful, Krithi. "She said smiling and kissed on my cheek.

I saw Hruday's parents or should I say my future in laws. I walked towards them along with my mom.

I greeted them with a polite *Namastey* and they complimented me for my looks.

I think they are impressed by my look.

I smiled at them and then walked towards the stage.

There stood Hruday in all his glory looking so handsome.

He wore a pink colour sherwani with overcoat which matched my dress.

He is looking soo handsome. This is the first time I am seeing him like this.

He is looking at me so intensely, observing my every move making me nervous as hell.

But something's different in his gaze Which I haven't seen before.

Guess Sneha's skills paid off.

Then his cousins I guess whispered something in his ear and he turned towards them.

I stood beside him speaking to my cousins and friends occasionally glancing at him. He too did the same.

Then the purohit came and started the rituals. After that he stated that it is time for the Ring ceremony.

His mother passed him the ring. He looked at me as if saying 'give me your hand right now!!' and I hesitated before giving my hand.

He slipped the ring on my finger all the while looking into my eyes.

Once he slipped the ring I looked at the love symbol. Why is this symbol engraved on the ring when there is no 'love' in this engagement?

Then they asked me to slip ring on his finger.

I took the ring in a slow motion waiting for something to happen so that the engagement can be stopped and I can live my life happily.

But guess what? This is not some movie where something miraculously happens just before the heroine puts a ring on villain's finger. This is real, everything going on is real.

I smiled sadly at my own fate....

I slipped the ring on his finger.

Everyone started clapping and throwing petals on us. Then we are made to sit on a sofa.

We are sitting close, close enough to make me nervous.

Our hands are brushing at times, which is not helping at all.

He purposely holds my hands while posing for pictures and sometimes place his hand on my waist which makes me uncomfortable.

Sne is making it even more difficult by asking us to stand in different positions. Adding to that Mr. Hruday himself suggested some romantic poses.

Someone is quite enjoying Camera attention. Is he usually that photo maniac or is he showing off today in front of our relatives.

Finally, she told me this is the last pose and asked us to make a love symbol with our hands while looking into each other's eyes.

I got stunned first by hearing it. The pose looks as if we are love birds finally going to marry after many years of love.

While I am thinking deeply about all this I felt my hand being lifted by someone.

I looked up to see this beautiful eyes which is the only thing I like in him, even though I hate him for his.... I can't choose among the list of things I hate in him.

I dont know when my hand formed the symbol but I am still looking into his eyes mesmerized.

I felt a flash going off on our faces. That's when it clicked in my mind that photo is already captured.

When I get this close to him I don't know why but I lose myself. We stepped away from each other immediately.

We were made to sit again as relatives are coming to wish us.

All the hospital staff is here. How can I not guess that they will obviously be here.

I focused on accepting the greetings of the guests who came but not on the person sitting beside me smirking occasionally when his hand touch mine.

From my peripheral vision I saw Bala standing with stupid talking to one of our colleague.

But I saw his eyes are focused on somewhere else.

Yaa!!!

This innocent, shy buddy of mine has a huge crush on my cousin, Sne, since our childhood!!!

At first I thought its just a small childhood attraction, and it will disappear with time.

But soon it turned into something very deep that he can't resist even though he tried.

He never opened to me about his feelings for her but I can see the admiration in his eyes whenever he saw her.

He never misses coming to our house whenever she visits us.

But he hardly talks to her.

Once when I asked him about the 'whole secret admiring from a distance thing', he just smiled shyly and dismissed the topic.

But he said he would try his best to impress by the end of my marriage.

Poor fellow!!!
Only if he know how she feels about relationships and whole thing.

I heartily wish them to end up together. They are complete opposites and I'm sure they would make a cute funny couple.

That thought made me think about myself. What about me? I ended up with this man and I don't know what couple we'll become.

I heard some grumbling and I looked at Hruday with a questioning gaze.

Then I understood that its my stomach that's grumbling...

Way to embaress yourself krithi...

Suddenly Hruday took my hand and led me down the stage.

All eyes are on us. I'm perplexed. What is it now??????

Oh god!! Stupid is soo true.
I should stop zoning out or else I would end up in even more embarrassing situations.

This is the second time for god's sake!!!!!!!!

'Seriously krithi you are not this idiotic before. What got to you?'
I mentally scolded myself.

He dragged me ahead we stood there in the grand hall as center of attraction.

"Don't panic sweetheart!!! Just come with me " He whispered looking in my eyes with a sweet fake smile on his lips.

Why can't he understand that I'm panicking because of that.

Because everything is happening according to him but not me!!
