SCENE 11

The scene opens with HARRY sitting on the floor in front of LOUIS' couch. He watches LOUIS anxiously as LOUIS sets up a camera of some sort. The camera is small and is balanced on top of a stack of books with a desk lamp sitting behind it. The lamp gives the room a white glow and faces the two boys as LOUIS joins HARRY. LOUIS moves around a little in his spot before getting up again and running back over to the camera. He seems anxious.

HARRY

I'm sure it's fine, Louis.

(LOUIS bites on his lip as he barely touches the camera to turn it a hair to the right. He gives everything one last look before going back to sit next to HARRY.)

LOUIS

I know, I know. I'm just trying to make sure that this is perfect. I don't want it to look like shit and have to refilm the whole thing.

HARRY

(a little awestruck) So, what, if you don't like how something looks you can just scrap the whole thing and try again?

LOUIS

(confused) Yeah? I can sit here and film the same thing all day until I get it just as I want it. Do you guys not do that with your show? I mean... I figured that it wasn't really reality.

(HARRY glances down at his lap and gives a small shrug)

HARRY

Of course, it's not reality but that doesn't mean that we can just control what we film. I mean if I thought I sounded weird saying something and Zayn likes it then it stays in. I guess I just think that it's cool that you get to control how you appear, you know?

(LOUIS considers this for a moment before shrugging back at HARRY. His demeanor shows that he doesn't quite know how to respond to HARRY'S statement.)

LOUIS

Yeah, I guess.

(Pause)

HARRY

(sighing) Alright, well how do you know when to start?

LOUIS

Well, you pretty much just start when you want to. The camera's recording so really I could put any of this in the video.

HARRY

(nodding) Right, then I should probably go ahead and tweet then, huh?

What is something you've always wanted to ask me?

(Immediately, a ding comes from LOUIS' phone. A blush spreads across his cheeks as LOUIS pulls his phone out.)

HARRY

(laughing) Do you have me on Twitter notifications?

(LOUIS looks down at his phone and then back up at HARRY. He shrugs and tosses the phone on the bed)

LOUIS

(nonchalant) Yeah, well, I might've fancied you some, alright? I mean it's no big deal, really.

(HARRY unlocks his phone again.)

HARRY

Do I just pick some to read out then and we answer it?

LOUIS

I mean, pretty much.

HARRY

(reading) Here we go. Lana24680 asks 'what cologne do you wear' and added a little heart-emoji at the end.

(LOUIS thinks about it for a moment)

LOUIS

(laughing) Right, well, I don't really buy a specific brand. Most of the time I just get whatever cheapest at Target since I work there. I'm using one that I think's supposed to smell like blue something or other. Obviously, I'm not that picky.

(LOUIS glances at HARRY as if prompting him to answer the question too)

HARRY

Umm... well I worked with a French brand while I was over there and customized a cologne. Whenever I'm low I just have them ship me another.

(LOUIS stares at him for a moment as if allowing all of what he said to soak in. HARRY clears his throat and then continues to read the next question.)

HARRY

(reading) its-the-family-show says 'Do you plan on being a dad anytime soon?'

LOUIS

I mean in the future I wouldn't mind being a dad, but for right now I don't think that's something I'm interested in. I'm quite keen on staying young and enjoying my youth for a while, yeah.

(HARRY turns to LOUIS with a strange look on his face.)

HARRY

(whispering) I'm not quite sure if I'm allowed to answer that or not

(LOUIS raises an eyebrow)

LOUIS

What do you mean you may not be able to answer that? Is Nicholette...

(HARRY seems as though he's struggling to say something.)

HARRY

She's not, but they want her to be.

(pause)

LOUIS

Well, we can always edit that one out then. No harm no foul, right?

(HARRY nods stiffly while glancing back at his phone to pick a new question to answer)

HARRY

(reading) Kara94 wants to know 'What's it like being on the show?'

LOUIS

I can't answer this one, but you can go ahead.

(HARRY seems to think about it for a moment before responding)

HARRY

I think that the show has certainly given me a lot of opportunities that I wouldn't have had had I not been on it. Um, I don't know. There are some good things and there are some bad things. I think that having my whole life out there is something that I wasn't quite sure about at first. I'm a very private person and to be thrown out there was hard to manage at first. Of course, I couldn't be happier filming with Nicholette's family, they're brilliant. That's probably one of the good things, I think, is that I get to spend so much time with Nicholette. She's really one of my best friends and I love her a lot.

(When HARRY stops talking he glances and notices LOUIS staring at him. A huge smile spreads across LOUIS' face. Quickly, LOUIS acts like he wasn't staring as hard as he was)

HARRY

(laughing) Staring really hard over there? Do I have something on my face?

(LOUIS blushes)

LOUIS

Oi, I don't know you just... you look good. I can't help myself.

(HARRY and LOUIS both smile at each other. LOUIS' smile fades as he notices HARRY shifting in his spot to move closer to LOUIS. Both boys become more serious and the atmosphere around them shifts.)

(LOUIS' laughable and almost tough-guy exterior breaks as we see him let out a shaky breath. He seems nervous. LOUIS' eyes can't seem to find one place to look. They dart around HARRY'S face in an attempt to figure out what HARRY'S about to do.)

(While LOUIS seems nervous, HARRY has never seemed so sure. He's steady. He's confident. He falters a little as he raises a hand to LOUIS' face. LOUIS pulls back a little as HARRY rests his hand on his cheek. We're not in a rush. Everything about this is slow and very meaningful)

(HARRY seems to ground LOUIS. HARRY stares into LOUIS' eyes and, immediately, LOUIS is brought back down. He still seems to tremble a bit in HARRY'S hand, but he's obviously trying to hide it some.

(Slowly, HARRY guides LOUIS closer towards him. LOUIS seems unsure, but HARRY silently assures him that it's fine with a shake of his head. LOUIS blinks rapidly as HARRY takes a moment to just look at LOUIS.)

(Pause)

(LOUIS leans in first. Their first kiss is quick and over in a second. LOUIS breaks it off nearly as soon as it starts. HARRY slowly guides LOUIS back to him and connects their lips again with more confidence that LOUIS had.)

(The camera pans out on the living room while HARRY and LOUIS kiss gently.)
