86~ Together At Last.
ABDEEN PALACE, EGYPT.
"What is the commotion all about?" Suhayr ask one of her personal maids hearing the sounds of people talking, the palace in chaos for the first time since her arrival. The place has always been quite, people talk in hush whispers.
"Someone came and he wants to see you but the princes and the pharaoh are not letting him come through, your great majesty." Sara explained, her hands deep into the concoction she is making for Suhayr even though she knows she won't take it. That is her work, to always make it each blessed morning whether or not she takes it is not her problem.
"Me? Who could that be?" Suhayr wondered who would want to see her and her brothers are not letting him. That only leads to one person, none other than Sa'eed because he is the only one they hate from the core of their heart.
She stood up then took calming breaths knowing she should not make stupid moves while she is just in her first trimester. It has been a month since she left Sa'eed and there is no day that passed by without her having to think about Sa'eed, it is always filled with his thoughts if she is not with her brothers. They found out that she always thinks about him and they hardly leave her alone. Even when they are going to work, they make sure she tags along two times a week to reduce the thoughts of their spineless brother in-law. They hated him with more time as she gets too engrossed in the past most of the times and space out.
She never told them anything about him to keep the loathe less, she can't have them hating him when all she could do is love him and try giving him excuses for what he has done. She's done so many bad things to him and he didn't send her packing for everything and this insignificant thing will push him to send her away, it doesn't make sense. But whatever it is that pushed him to do that, he should've told her everything, she can take it but no, he did everything on his own. That is the reason she is mad, she can't bring herself to be pissed off. She wants to be angry at him so the moment she sees him, she'd throw an antique vase on his head watching it shatter with his brain.
Ugh, why is she so in love with that tartar? She keeps creating reasons to not hate him after all that time, she could only say she loves him more now, more than ever. And knowing a part of him is growing in her stomach didn't help the situation. She's gone for one checkup since then and they said everything looks good and safe so she is keeping her breath low. She don't understand why she always gets afraid that something terrible might happen to her baby because her husband is not with her, she never voiced it out though. The fear is always there, gripping at her core each passing second.
Her father still hasn't forgiven Sa'eed and if she tells him this, he will feel like his grandson's life is threatened because of him and punish him like he wanted to. She found out her father is really possessive and her brothers are out of the world with their own. She was not allowed to leave her chamber alone or even sleep alone, there are maids just outside her chamber from behind where her father gave them a tent to stay. She really didn't want that, the maids won't be comfortable but her father wasn't having it neither were her brothers supporting her so she agreed.
She really missed Sa'eed, she don't know how he will react after finding out she is pregnant with his baby. She wanted to tell him after she found out but her phone was ceased by Aqeeb, he gave her a new phone and she doesn't know Sa'eed's number off head. She tried all she could but they didn't give it to her so she gave up. What the hell! Suhayr is never like that, she never feels down for any reason nor has she been weak but like she's promised, she is keeping her troublesome side to the other end of the world. She is being a sweetheart and that is why she didn't follow through thick and thin to get her way. She sometimes miss the other Suhayr, her life wasn't boring then.
Besides, she is not alone now, a baby is growing inside her. Whenever the realisation dawned upon her, she freaks out at the mere thought. She sometimes try to act like there is nothing inside her and see how she would act but she can't do it for the life of her. Her stomach is not showing anything but a small sign of bulge is growing little by little not that anyone will pass it up as pregnant. She also feels like she eats a lot and that is why her stomach is that big but her gynecologist told her that it is the sign of the baby inside her womb. It was nothing to be worried about but she do get worried for no reason.
She often times get overwhelmed with emotions and he said it is also sign of pregnancy. The unforeseen nausea that hits her all the time is also something she is not looking forward to. The experience is amazing but undergoing it is another story of it's own. She once had to throw up in a fancy restaurant and thank goodness Aqeeb thought about clearing the restaurant for them and they were the only ones, it would've been so embarrassing. She couldn't eat anything in there and the people thought she didn't like it, she had to assure them countless times that it wasn't their fault.
And something she found funny, whenever the royals give compliment to someone, it is as though they were given the heaven on earth. So when she kept making faces at the food in front of her, they panicked for their restaurants rate might drop drastically because of one criticism from her and one compliment could times the two of the normal daily rate. She really likes it their in Egypt, they respect themselves and respect the royals a lot. There is no need for her to seek attention, she don't need it.
Another commotion brought her out of her reverie so she stood up and made her way to the door feeling the maids hot on her tail, her entourage. She swallowed thickly on her way, it is not easy to meet the father of your child and the love of your life after he threw you out and came back for you a month later. But why did she feel so giddy inside of her to see him again? To look at the sinful but deliciously husband in all his glory. It makes her head run down the memory lane of their night together before he threw her away.
The first time, she ran away herself and the second, he chased her off.
"...I want to see her, I need to explain myself. Please, just give me this chance to explain myself to her, I know she will understand." He pleaded at her brother Aqeeb who stood nonchalantly in front of him.
She went to the open foyer where she could see the commotion going on down the stairs from where she is. She placed her hands on the golden handrail there while sighting her husband looking too sinful and glorious in the middle of their golden room. Her father is sitting on the Dijon tuxedo sofa holding onto his narwhal walking stick made from cheery bark oak and the head shining under the empire chandelier. He looks relaxed and not as angry as she thought he would be when he sees Sa'eed, oh well. Maybe Sa'eed said something or her father just realised that she really needs him?
"And she don't want to see you, don't you get it?" Farouk also chirped in and she could see the surprise in Sa'eed's face probably wondering when the guy started talking like that with confidence. He stood tall, the same height as Aqeeb but shorter than Sa'eed.
"You can call her down here to confirm it." He challenged as if he is very sure of their love and he wants to be like those TV heroes, ever confident in their love. It is funny watching him so worked up and facing men younger than him but he can't do anything to them.
He might not care they are royalty but she is darn sure he is not fighting them because they are his brothers in-law. He is not the type to be intimidated by your wealth or status, that comes to him when he finishes whatever he wants to do. He might as well beat them up to pup forgetting they are royalties and after the deed is done, he will realise how huge the mistake he's done is. Then again, her brothers are also not just there like sacks of grain, they go to gym everyday as she requested.
"No, we are not going to call her here by any chance. I refuse to stress her out in her condition, not happening under my watch." Farouk intervened, his possessive and protective side coming to a stand. It is funny watching the guy being all protective over her when he is the only one who looked like he needed the protection months ago.
"What condition are you talking about?" Sa'eed looks concerned and curious, he kept the fight aside and let his eyes mar with concern and worry for her. That look in his eyes made her chest flutter and her stomach get filled with butterflies. He looks super duper worried about her, he still cares and loves her.
She knows that!
"You don't need to know something as personal as that, you can leave from here. And please, don't ever step back in here for you are not welcomed." Aqeeb snapped, he was quick to divert the slip of tongue his younger brother made. His eyes are sending warning to Farouk who in return apologized with his eyes. She also learnt how to talk to them using her eyes, it's cool.
"Personal? You are talking about my wife here and not any stranger! I am not leaving this place without seeing and talking to her!" He is breathing fast now, looking around to see whether she is there to see him like that. He closed his eyes, she knew he wants to know what is wrong with her.
"Sons, let him talk to her. They need to understand each other, it's been a month already." Her father's tired voice close carved through the air, it sliced the thick air filled with tension and she saw her brothers shoulders standing up again. They are not ready to let them talk and she's had enough of it, she missed her husband anyway.
"I want to talk to him!" She called out from the foyer watching as everyone's attention instantly yawed to her. She didn't let her eyes meet anyone else's but her husbands, she wants to see his reaction to seeing her.
There is was, the love he has for her that keeps her moving and then the concern as his eyes weep over her from head to toe. The relief was palpable in both his stance and eyes when he found out that nothing is wrong with her, he won't see the pregnancy written on her forehead anyway. He started moving from her brothers to the grand u-shaped stairs that leads to where she is standing as if he was hypothesised. She didn't break eye contact silently wishing him to miss step and fall but he didn't. Or maybe that is not what she is exactly wishing for.
When he stood in front of her, she decided to let her eyes swipe down to what he is wearing that makes him look hotter than she saw him month ago. He is wearing a tan khakis, white shirt underneath a matching tan leather jacket with suede backs sheathing his feet. Not a single strand of his hair is out of place probably because he has barbed it to that buzz cut that gets to her all the time. His beard is trimmed and has lessen from the last time she saw it, definitely trimmed and got his face nicer.
There is no doubt the man had a makeover before he decided to come see her. Ha!
"Are you alright?" His eyes again sweep over her body but this time, he lingered everywhere he could see skin so he can be sure no one tried harming her. He was there protecting her in Nigeria, she can't be harmed in anyway.
"I'm fine. Follow me!" She started walking back to her room because she can't talk to him while her brothers and father are staring at them like hawks, she can't do that.
As soon as she stepped inside her room, all the maids disappeared from sight before she could even talk so she made her way to the king sized bed and sat down. Sa'eed is looking out of place in the room and stood in the middle of the room like a fish taken out of water for the first time. She let him take in her room before motioning to the set of shadow Chesterfield sofas in front of her. There are fruits kept there for her, unripe mangoes from kent, brooks late and gouveia all there for her when she feels nausea. Sara asked the guards to pluck fresh set of them earlier while they ate the one from yesterday.
"What condition was your brother talking about? Are you sick or did someone try harming you again?" He questioned, he still is concerned and kept roaming his eyes around her for the umpteenth time to confirm her health.
"He is talking about something different..." She trailed off when her nausea hit her again and this time around, her deep breaths didn't help her. She doesn't even have the time to take one of the mangoes from the bowl so with her hands closing her mouth, she made a beeline to her bathroom feeling Sa'eed hot behind her on tow.
"You are not fine." His eyes are wide as he held her hair to the side waiting for her to finish dry heaving in the toilet. Her head is pushed inside the toilet, tears and spit coming out from her eyes and mouth. She heaved for three more minutes before she move from the toilet bowl and sat beside the washing hand basin on the floor feeling Sa'eed's eyes on her.
Sa'eed walks out of the bathroom and went to remove his jacket but she thought he's left her again for her heart gave a jolt inside her chest. Sk when he came back without his jacket and sat down on the marbled flood beside her, she wipe away her tears and stare at her fingers on her thighs not understanding why she was suddenly emotional. She felt his hand drawing her to him, placing her head on his shoulder so she smiled and get herself cocooned in his embrace. She don't want to be mad at him neither does she have the energy to be mad at him, she loves him and there is no denying.
"I am pregnant." She whispered after awhile and for a second there, she thought he didn't hear her but his tensed shoulders gave him away.
"Pregnant? Are you serious?! How?" There was seriousness in his voice, worry, elation, joy, merriment, disbelieve and bewilderment all in there.
"Yeah because we had sexual intercourse twice and I fell pregnant after the first one. That sums up two months along." She rolled her eyes, he knows how to ask stupid questions and she knows how to give the answers sarcastically. She is just bathing in the joy of being in his arms.
"But you were beaten after that, how is that possible? I mean, if you were pregnant then, you probably would've had a miscarriage after what has happened." His brows scrunched, his hold on her tighten as he thought about that terrible night he found her bathing in her own blood.
"My family were surprised too, so was I. Well, that is how Allah does His miracle." She shrugged, not raising her head to look at his faraway distant look.
"Yeah, you're right." He nodded then sighed knowing what is going to follow that silence.
"Will you tell me why you throw me out of your home or not?" It was meant to be sarcastic and to lighten the mood in the room but he tensed again at that. A small sigh of resignation came out from his mouth, blowing her slightly dampen hair.
"Long story short, my mom blackmailed me into throwing you out or she'd kill you for real this time around. She and Najaah conspired for that attack in Chad, they paid the man who is currently behind the bars. I had to send you away because she has your aunt held captive, she is also pregnant you see. I know you would want me to protect your aunt first before coming to you so I did that same thing..."
His mother got what is coming for her because it took him three weeks to have her confess to her crimes in the court. He lied about Suhayr's death in court so his mother won't be out of jail forever, he had to do that. His father supported him back to back and gave the evidence for when he saw her talking on phone about killing Suhayr, it was a clean job as all evidences were pointed against her. When everything overwhelmed her, she confessed and yelled at the judge too. She thought everyone was supporting her but no one is, she made a mistake of thinking their father paid handsomely so she won't be locked but in reality, he paid so she won't leave jail ever. She thought being royalty will help her get out of jail, his father divorced her instantly.
And now, he is one hundred and one percent sure his mother won't leave that jail even if it catches fire, she'd get burnt. He's also heard that her inmates in the jail are ruthless women, they are not sparing her for any rude comeback. Knowing how his mother is always offensive with words, she won't survive there for much longer or at least, she will learn how to talk. He didn't like stooping low to her level but there is nothing he could do. She is putting a lot of people's lives in danger. Though his mother, he felt no remorse for punishing her the way she deserves to be punished.
And Najaah on the other hand, Safwan didn't divorce her and instead took her to a village where there is no network, electricity or even good water. Since she is sick albeit taking lots of medicines, Sa'eed would leave her to the sickness and not send her to jail. Allah has already bestow upon her troubles one after the other. He didn't forgive her for what she's done and she's had a miscarriage which says she won't ever be able to give birth again in her life. She has also met up with a tragic accident few weeks ago where one of her legs broke and one of her ribs is cracked. Her face is damaged beyond repair which is why she didn't argue when he took her to the village.
One of her fingers is removed too, she doesn't have the thumb of her right hand and all thanks to the accident when a truck hit her. It was a miracle she survived and for that gratefulness, she agreed to leave for the village. Safwan was more than ready to take her there, that place is exactly where he grew up in and the stress in the city is really taking a toll on him. They are now free of Najaah, she won't live long even if she wants to.
They all paid for the evil deeds they've done, it is still not enough for Sa'eed. He wants to hurt them but he will leave everything on hands of Allah, He has already planned it and there is no better way than Al-Quddus' none at all.
"Oh, my! That is really harsh but they deserve it, seriously." She sat up and stare at his eyes that are now away from those haunting ones but one filled with ease, alleviation and substitute. It is like the whole problem on earth is poured in pacific ocean.
"They deserve much more than this, my love. I want to punish them much more severe if I can, but this should give them a reality check. I am so happy now. We can put everything behind us now and move on. I hope you will forgive me for this?" He cupped her face in his large palms, stared tenderly, lovingly and fondly at her. He has missed her so much, a lot that it hurts!
"I never held any grudge against you, I'm a changed person. And you know what, I can't wait to give birth." She moaned thinking about how she has embarrassingly threw up her guts.
"We are going to go through this together. I love you so much and I missed you so darn much!" He placed his moistened lips on hers gently, his thumb slothful and soothing to her rosy cheeks.
"I love you." This is the first time she's said it to him in normal English, it was Arabic/French she used.
"Marrying an inferno is really amazing, you know? I got to be in jail for the first time!" He hugged her to him, his head lying on her much more swollen breasts while she caressed his hair like a mother should. He didn't get his mother to do that but she will take care of him and her children both, she vowed.
"You are also an inferno since you were not letting me off the hook, you strike right back." She kissed his forehead, taking away the stress lines from his forehead.
Marrying an inferno isn't that bad, it's fun!
They are together at last.
