21~ What A Traditional Shit.

BORNO EMIRATE COUNCIL.

Suhayr, Urshia, Tasneem and Thuraiya are now ready waiting for the cars that should come get them just like the Queen told her. Yes, they spend more than ten minutes talking about what is going to happen and mostly are the ones that are going to happen tomorrow morning, clearly telling her she won't have much goodnight sleep the next day.

The ceremony is going to happen in the main palace's event hall meant just for events like this. Suhayr could only shake her head at the thought of what those rich folks do with money. But an event hall, seriously? Well, maybe because so much events takes place starting from coronations, naming ceremonies, weddings, birthdays and so on but still, she don't see the need of event hall in a home. Or, because this is not a home but a castle.

Do they like, rent it out to people for money? Nah, they are too rich for that.

"I totally forgot to tell you, Susu. They have brought eighteen gold coins which they call Kwororam meaning payment for asking the woman's hand in marriage like the Shehu had said. They also sent so many incense burner, I've packed some for us while the rest I give one of the maids to take to my son in-law's chamber, where you are going to start living from tomorrow. Candies, chewing gums and cola-nuts were also brought, they said we are to share it with our family and since we have none, I gave it to his family and some maids." Urshia rambled while trying to remember everything she's been told the day before.

"Woah, gold coins?" Thuraiya asked, the girl's question right from the other girls' minds, she could talk real fast.

"Yes, that is the way they pay dowry here. Quite interesting isn't it?" Urshia inclined her head with a smile, she looks beautiful which Suhayr won't stop thinking.

They got one of the maids to tie the head ties for them since it is proven to be a difficult task to do by themselves. They couldn't get the thing to sit well on their heads so after everyone of them took turns trying to do it while watching YouTube video after searching; How to tie Nigerian turban, but none of them work so they gave up and let their egos slide a little. Suhayr could only laugh at the way the thing makes noise while trying to stand upright in her heels.

Who would've thought Suhayr would be married so early? The people back in her home are definitely going to flip out after hearing what just happened to her and to think she bow her ego down to propose to a man, how shameful in their eyes. Even she can't believe she is really married and is in a castle, it feels like a whole dream she don't want to wake up from except the fact that her husband is about to hear from her for adding some stupid alarm.

The man don't know who he really is playing with. Why would he even bother waking her up if he doesn't care about his family being embarrassed? He definitely won't do that for her, it is pretty obvious that after one meeting, they always hate each other more and more and she'd like to keep it that way. There is no way she would bow down to the bulldog, that looks like a spider when walking arrogantly.

"Really interesting. What are we going to do with the gold though? I don't think we need it for anything." Suhayr stared at them questioningly while they stared right back at her with raised brow.

"It is yours not ours, Susu. I think you should keep it with yourself, you don't know when you will need it." And Urshia produced a blood red and gold jewelry bag that could make anyone jealous, so beautiful.

"Why would I need it?" Suhayr furrowed her brows while thinking hard of what she might use it for but came up with nothing, absolutely empty.

"Just keep it with you." Urshia pushed the bag into her hands so she took it with a sigh, where is she going to place it now?

"Your entourage are here." Tasneem asked after peeking through the peephole to see what the commotion is all about outside their now chamber.

"Not my entourage." She rolled her eyes but stood up straight again trying not to look like a fool in front of them all in her heels.

"Let's go." Thuraiya was really enthusiastic about the whole thing so she is the first to walk out of the Chamber to the cars waiting for them outside, sitting in the front seat.

Suhayr is placed in the middle of Urshia and Tasneem saying they don't want people seeing the bride from the window due to the fact that she likes staring out the window whenever she is in a car and they think her look should be hidden from the prying eyes. She kept grumbling from between them, her eyes rolling up and down, she knew she should stop or the eyes will stay upwards forever, she just can't help it. She wants to see the people mingling around for the event.

Shortly they arrived at the place, she knew it is seeing so many flashy cars and women with so much accessories. She internally grumbled with a thought of, I knew this would happen. Snobby rich bitches wanting to bring her down for a reason she won't ever know because they also don't know why they hate her. She is used to people hating her instantly, her mother said some did it because she is beautiful and they are just like that, that's how they are.

She knew it happens, her classmates are always envious of her when they all are beautiful in their own way. People tend to be this stupid, they become self conscious of their own looks, insecure when they shouldn't be. There is no way you can be more beautiful than anyone, so instead of being insecure, hug your beauty and be happy with what you are. It always leads to depression, insecurity and sometimes even suicidal thoughts, for what reason?

"Let's do this." She grumbled before leaving the car with the others, looking as everyone's attention yawed to her.

"They are already staring. They know you are the one huh?" Tasneem asked, getting more and more excited of the attention given to them.

"Let's go in." And they move there, not stopping till their legs stepped into the well decorated place.

She could not see a single wall, all of them, if there are any, are closed with frost white silk curtains surrounding it all, the ceiling included. There is a huge ceiling fan chandelier in the middle of it while little uplight chandeliers surround the whole hall everywhere. The place is lit with this air of authority and power marring each and every crevice of it, but it is not making her shrink. She only held her head up higher not one to feel easily intimidated.

Normally, more like from the videos she's watched, most of the brides are accompanied by so many friends and family so imagine everyone's surprise when she walked in with only three other women beside her but not to forget to add, ridiculously beautiful ladies. Some of them have questions in their eyes but the way they are staring at them, you could tell they don't want to ask but rather know who they are. They are struck with their beauty, they make it obvious.

Suhayr bathed in the attention, moving gracefully to where a few maids are showing her right in the middle of the hall. There are so many tables filled with many influential and powerful people from the looks of it all, the expensive Cologne hanging in the air, the heavy gold jewelries the women are wearing, you could tell. Suhayr didn't let that bother her, the stinky rich people hiding away from population, so much luxury in one place. She could imagine how rich a robber would be when he raids the place.

Such bad thought, bad bad Suhayr. She scolded herself before letting her model like look surface, time to quell all those little rich brats.

She didn't look anywhere but the location she is supposed to sit down on, a nice scarlet and golden made throne that sits in the middle of the enormous hall. It is meant for two people which means the obnoxious pompous rich brat is going to join her. Brushing the thought that is definitely going to ruin her mood, she let her steps get more elegant feeling her Aunt and her children close behind her, they are all she needs.

Finally arriving at the throne, she sat down just as elegant as she could in the complicated piece of clothing she is wearing, so convoluted. She crossed one leg on the other watching as Tasneem and Thuraiya find a place on the traditional maroon rug that is right beside her on the floor while Urshia move forward to adjust her veil around her but she looks uncomfortable. She hates attention, especially from foreign people which Suhayr really understand.

They also won't stop staring at them, so annoying.

"Sa'eed will be here any moment so the tradition can begin." Urshia whispered to her before she sat down with her children, maids surrounding them.

"What is this called?" She asked the maid standing right beside her with a traditional feathery fan fanning her even with the air conditioner in full blast.

"Welcoming the groom to the bride's home. The other traditions are about to take place soon, your Highness." The maid politely replied not stopping her hand from fanning her.

Suhayr let her eyes wander off around the room which is heavily decorated in traditional stuff. Well, one thing she understands now about the Kanuri people is that, they are very traditional and love their culture. From the right side of her, the Shehu and his wife are sitting, maids and guards swarming around them then by the right, there is another group of what seems to be Royal. There are many of them, older ones and youngsters alongside maids and guards too. That means they are her husband's family, too much?

Shortly after she has been filled in by one of the maids who was apparently sent by the Queen, Sa'eed's grand entrance was announced. He came in with so many friends behind him abruptly making her raise a brow knowing the man isn't capable of having so many friends but she will let it slide. She feels like they are either family friends or all of them are guards dressed so good to be in place of his friends that he doesn't have or they are Mu'adh's friend.

"You have so much friends? Why do I feel like they are forced to be with you?" Was her first question to him as soon as he sat beside her.

She didn't bother taking in the sky blue kaftan and babban riga he is wearing embroidered with navy blue royal intricate. She didn't have time to see that, she needs to see what he would say about the whole event they are having. It doesn't sit well with her, she don't like what is happening but she brought this upon herself. And what? She has so many golden coins she could sell right then and become rich.

"Not everyone is you." Was his cool reply making her roll her eyes. She don't care if people are watching them, she will be herself.

"Why the fuck did you set my alarm? Who gave you the audacity to do that?" She glared hotly at him, her eyes sending blaze across and would've hot anyone but not Sa'eed.

"I bought the phone, remember?" He didn't even turn to look at her, his eyes are focused on his grandparents.

"Fuck you! You threw my phone away so you have to buy it whether you like it or not." She retorted watching as her royal Majesty stood up and started making her way to where they are with her entourage.

"I won't talk to you about this now. Keep quite, don't forget we were asked to act in love." He said through gritted teeth whilst starring a soft smile that would fool anyone but her.

"Or you just want me to be smitten by you even by act?" She mocked, her eyes watching the Queen trudge to where they are.

"You? I don't deal with low bitches." He spit out quickly not wanting his grandmother to hear him.

"Like I don't deal with hideous bulldogs." Her reply was instantaneous.

"Shut the fuck up! You disarranged all our traditions, I'm not supposed to be sitting here with you but because I eloped, I am getting punished and because of the fact that you don't have much family." His scoffed, bringing his Rolex out to stare at the time as though he can't wait for his time to leave.

"I'd rather have small family than yours, they look obscene." She hissed, her words being the last before her Majesty arrived with her entourage taking the whole attention back to them.

"Don't act like you want to kill each other now. You are supposed to be in love, have you forgotten?" The frail but strong woman question with a perfectly arched brow raised upwards.

"No." Their answer was simultaneous which got her to nod and made her way back to where she was in triumph.

They are playing the cards well.
