19~ The Inside Life.

BORNO EMIRATE COUNCIL.

Sa'eed glared at one of the maids that dare cross where he is sitting making her twist on her legs and fall down on the carpeted floor. He rolled his eyes at her clumsiness, or is it nervousness? He can't even say now that he has more in his plates than anybody else, that is how he feels. Like the whole castle's problem is on his head now, he's had his fair share of struggles before but this, he is in for a really tough ride which he needs as much energy as he could gain.

He is married after a month of divorcing his first wife, how on earth is that even sane to any person out there? People are going to question his intentions with his first wife, some will go to the extent of saying he impregnated Suhayr and is now willing to marry her after divorcing his first wife. Like those sort of things really get to him, he don't care about those rumours except for his grandfather's approval.

Surprising, it is that his first wife who happens to be his cousin isn't there to make his life a living hell too. The castle has been quite ever since he arrived which is so unlike her, she would've come straight thinking he will like her presence. He had, or he still crave her attention but sometimes all you need to do is let go and then move on with life. There is no ounce of hope in their marriage, he wouldn't want to see that light too.

Their marriage will never work out after such horrible stunt she pulled and how amazingly keep covering up for her while taking the blows of ungrateful husband around the society. She called him heartless but here he is, ready to listen to everything she is supposed to best for her crime. She really has him wrapped around her little finger, that is no surprise. They literally grew up together, fell in love and got married like those cute couple.

Or was there something they were missing right from the beginning? He can't say, he grew up knowing he doesn't have any wife except for her so he try his very best to produce space for her in his heart and life. They were comfortable and got married like all those happy couple, so many events took place because it is the favorite grandson's marriage. It happened so fast and ended too fast for his liking but, it is for the best. He get to notice what his people keep showing him, he was dead blind.

To some, he is not capable of loving anyone but he is, he's loved her but won't ever think about loving anyone again. It broke him, shattered him to bits and pieces since he didn't know when the blow came. He had it in him to take them on their honeymoon but things happened, they end up getting divorced. Jokes on life, the fault was automatically sent straight to him without any sort of excuse. He understands that, he is at fault but so was she. They are both at fault.

"Stop thinking too hard like that or you'd get more wrinkles." Mu'adh's light voice cut through the calm air in his tea room, automatically shutting of his unhealthy thoughts.

"Why are you here?" He didn't raise his head away from the soda he was holding tightly in his grasp whilst burying his past.

"Just before you start quelling that poor can, keep it light. I was told that his Majesty and uncles went to ask for Suhayr's hand in marriage huh?" He settled himself on the opposite coffee chair to irritate Sa'eed, he loves those chairs and hate sharing it with anyone.

"Unnecessary if you ask me. We are already married and it's not like this is my first marriage or something." He rolled his eyes, tough façade coming back with full force at the thought of marriage.

"I understand their point of view though. Words are going to start flying around immediately and tomorrow's event, shudders." Mu'adh gave an exaggerated shudder at the thought of the next day.

"Tell me about it. And that arrogant bitch kept feeling like the world revolves around her. Then a stupid command that came from grand papa telling us to act lovey dovey shit whenever we are together. How can I even do that with that infuriating woman?" He gritted his teeth at the mere thought of his new nightmare.

"Nah, she's beautiful so it will be much more easier. At least, you won't feel like gagging when looking at her." Mu'adh gave a mischievous smile and kissy face.

"I feel like strangling, choking, suffocating, throttling her all the damn time I'm meters away from her. The mere mention of her name is enough to ruin my day. Trust me, there is nothing good in her." Sa'eed argued hotly, not willing to give up when he knows he's right.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, man. Sorry, I forgot to tell you but his Majesty wish to see you now." Mu'adh was fast to leave knowing his friend will strangle him.

He has been waiting for a call from his grandfather ever since he came back but he didn't get the audacity to do so after commuting such grievous sin. He got married to another woman when he divorced his other one a month ago. That is such sin that he should never have committed when he is already in his own shit. He has committed many sins in the eyes of his grandfather that month, he keeps adding more.

He didn't tell him why he divorced his first wife which made him so mad at him the whole month and if there is anything Sa'eed can't stomach is having his grandparents mad at him. No matter how little his mistake is, he always is afraid of disappointing them. His grandparents are his parents, well, they are much more important in his life than his parents have ever been. He is much more closer to them than anyone so him hiding the reason made them disappointed.

He will tell them but just not then, when everything is at it's peak. Maybe after his grandfather's birthday, and everything has finally fallen back into place then he will drop his own trouble. His grandfather is getting older, more troubles will lead to heart problem which he really is not looking forward to. A lot has happened from the day he divorced his wife till date, so much of them.

He stood up and made his way to the main palace where his grandfather's throne is situated but not the throne room, they are about to discuss something personal. He didn't even get to talk to his parents or siblings after his arrival, he was too busy. Especially his younger sister who is now bedridden in the castle clinic after they get what is wrong with her. She has thyroid cancer which was confirmed the day he was supposed to leave for Chad, he wanted to stay and sympathise but he couldn't.

All because of some stupid egoistic woman.

"Sa'd, you made me so happy today." His grandfather said as soon as he sighted him walking into his bedchamber.

"How so, grandpa?" He scrunched his brows and move further into the room to sit on one of the sofas, he can't believe what he is hearing.

"You got married to a Chadian, I've always wanted you to do so. I've always wanted that but your mother was hellbent on another thing. I'm happy now though, thank you." The grin on his grandfather's face is enough to make his heart feel light.

He's always been angry at the fact that he got married to that stupid narcissistic person but now that his grandfather just released that smile after a month of stern looks and brooding personality, Sa'eed is less mad at himself. His grandfather has once told him about his wish to get them married to a Chadian but he didn't thought he was so serious that he stopped thinking about his wrongdoings.

Till one of them decided to fulfill that dream but didn't come back.

"Were you serious about it?" He asked, not helping the smile that took over his face, his grandfather is not mad at him anymore, matter dropped.

"I was. I'm so happy about it that I have a gift, especially for you. By tomorrow, we are going to be very busy but don't worry, I have something planned for you too. You love her right? That is why you eloped to get married, hmm?" The Shehu knew what he was doing, pushing Sa'eed to the corner even after knowing the truth.

"Er, not really. I made a mistake then she blackmailed me into marrying her so here we are." He swallowed, not wanting to say the truth and blow his cover.

"She blackmailed you? She looks too innocent to do that, are you sure?" His majesty raise a mocking brow while scrutinizing his grandson.

"Innocent my foot. That woman is no different from a devil's pawn, trust me." Sa'eed scoffed at the absurd word that spewed out from his grandfather's mouth. The word innocent can never be used in the same sentence as Suhayr.

"Now, now, don't talk about your new wife like that, that is not how you were brought up. Go and get some rest, tomorrow is going to be tiring." His grandfather smirked at his retreating annoyance.

"Have a good day, grandpa." And he left the chamber feeling sated at the thought of his calm happy grandfather not the cause though.

"Your Highness, your mother wishes to see you now." An eunuch said to him as he made his way to his chamber making him groan sensing that everyone is hellbent on not making him catch some rest.

With determined fast strides, he move to his parent's chamber wanting to finish all that he has to do and get a long sleep since he couldn't get real one the night before. The woman kept tossing and moving around the night before. She just wants to show him who the bed belongs to, he understands that the hard way when he got hit because he lie down on the wrong side of bed. That woman could pass as a lunatic.

Now he will have to face so much criticism from his mother due to the fact that he got married just a month after severing all ties with his first wife. They need to understand that he is not a child anymore and he isn't feeding off their wealth, he has rights to do what he wants and feels is right. Though there is nothing about righteousness while being with Suhayr, the woman is total definition of epidemic unfortunate bombshell.

Not to forget about the fact that she loves his first wife more than she's ever loved him, it is no doubt they share the same blood. His first wife is his cousin from his maternal side which is why she was hellbent on making their marriage work again which is not possible. To him, there is nothing good about marriage since he never reached his first wife's expectations, she's loved him, he agreed with that. Why do they all have to be headstrong?

"Your Highness." Sa'eed acknowledged his mother formally like it has always been right from the beginning of his puberty when he finally brace the fact that she won't love him like mothers do.

"Sa'eed, well done! I thought you were going to bring your new wife to me before going to her Majesty but clearly, you value her more. Is it because she is more powerful than me?" The way she spat out the wife and the way her face yaw into a sneer, Sa'eed is about to lose his shit.

"No, because she is cares about me more than you ever will. I hope this answered your questions, I shall go back to my wife if you don't mind." He was about to stand up but she clearly isn't done so he stayed seated on the tuntu.

His mother's tea room is beautiful and has so much ancient and golden stuff stacked in every corner of the room. It makes the eyes glitter with blood at the sight, it is not pleasant. Her walls are painted to her taste, amethyst and gold. The room ooze too much brightness, he can't stay there for more than necessary. Why does she have to be too bright when her personality is nothing to match up with? She has this dark expression always marring her face.

"Learn how to speak to me, I'm your mother. For once, be respectful to the woman that gave birth to you." She roared, her words only making his already boiling heart fry.

"Like you fucking said, the woman that gave birth to me, this is all you are and will ever be to me." He glared, his words slicing right through his tongue but he didn't feel the acidic taste he always felt when he was younger. The woman doesn't deserve any tinge of happiness.

"Don't talk to me like that and don't curse in front of me, you disrespectful brat." Her face yawed red, you could literally see the steam coming off her ears.

The woman is fair, thank God for the Fulani blood she has in her, she wouldn't have been a sight to see if she were dark skinned. And what he hated more about her is her beautiful face, she shouldn't be beautiful and he shouldn't look even a little like her. They have same plumb lips and almond shaped eyes, something he grew to despise because of the woman that gave birth to him. They never shared any type of relationship, not at all.

Her eyes always shine with that snake like emotions he was afraid of when he was a child, dead afraid to the limit of peeing his pants that very day. He's never seen her smile, not even when they are all lovey dovey -if they ever were- with his father. Sa'eed could only think of how he will never be able to stay with his mother as his wife or mother of his children. What had his father seen in the woman?

"Don't wait around for that, release your breathe. You were mingling around looking for a title that will be on your name making you forget about having children. Go on and keep searching for that title, your children will vote against you, trust me." He stood up and barged out of the room, his gait radiating anger.

The maids could only gape at him even though they are used to those encounters from time to time whenever the woman sees her son. They understand what is happening too all the time, he never seize to throw it on her face all the time too. The woman is not easy to work with, talk less about being the child she abandoned, they don't even want to go there. She left them hanging like that, utterly hopeless at the hold of her Jakadiya.

His day is fucking ruined right from the beginning, all he needs is a long night sleep that will make every nightmare of his disappear and vanish into thin air. There is no use looking for something you'd never get from someone as bad as his mother. He would swear to love being in Suhayr's presence more than his mother's, and that is saying something.

And the tomorrow hasn't even arrived yet.
