13~ Down To Memory.

I dare you to comment on each paragraph, dedicating next chapter...

N'DJAMENA, CHAD.

"Have you packed everything you will need?" Mu'adh asked Suhayr after knocking on her door making his presence known so as to not startle her, as if.

"Yup, five suitcases and three boxes. I have all my treasures with me but I need to sell some stuff in here to pay off some things." She explained closing the last box that has so many of her important things. She can't leave those treasures of hers no matter what, they are important to her mother so are they to her.

"What about your other family members? Are they ready yet?!" His questions are curiously asked so she gave him a 'what do you want to know' look earning herself a shrug from him as his sign of nonchalance.

"Yes, they must be ready by now. I hope the car will be able to take all our stuff and I really hope they get ticket this late 'cause it's really a hard thing to get. One thing I won't want right now is something to hold them back, I will have to stay back with them which will look bad to your friend's family." She sighed after standing up from the suitcase she forced herself to close not willing to ask for help.

As if she would care what his family thinks, she just can't wait to go see a castle in another country, that is it.

Someone might think she is a whole complicated side of jigsaw but she isn't, she is only considerate sometimes. She would not want his family members ruining her plan of becoming a millionaire after getting married to him so this should not come between her well crafted plan. There are things she needs to do at the first stage of their marriage so that it won't dare come to bite her in the future or sabotage her life.

She's already picturing herself bathing in riches and enjoying the royal life there, she can't wait. There are things she will have to tackle to get comfortable in the royal home, she knows that too but why is she named fire if she isn't ready for all life threatening moments? She is always ready and this is no different, she will acquire what she has set her eyes on. This is her last ticket to being a rich woman, she won't play with it even with her life hanging.

Some might think she lacks heart, but that is just Suhayr Imraan Khalid way of getting what she wants. If she sets her goal, there is no one or anything on earth that could stop her from doing so, she has her ways planned like she was born to be manipulative. Her mother didn't teach her that, she is always preaching to her about not doing that but she never listens like always. Some thought she would change after her mother's death but no, it got worst.

Down to the last and best memory she had with the strong woman, the most beautiful one on earth.

"If you dare leave me in this world, I will make sure no one lives in peace around me. How can you think about leaving just like that? You know how much I love you right? I know I didn't get to tell you how much I love you everyday but you know I love you a lot right? You are the only person I can tolerate, please don't talk about it ever again." Suhayr was at her weakest point, she's never being that feeble nor frail.

That was the day when her foster mother started talking about death because of a mere malaria that won't release her. Suhayr is afraid of death at that moment more than ever. She's been though so much life threatening situations but she never is afraid of death but that moment when her mother is talking about death, she got scared shitless at the thought of her mother dead.

She won't mind dying to let her mother live a little longer to get all the happiness she deserves for bringing up a girl she is not related to like her own. Maybe even more than she would her real daughter, she's loved her so much that it made her heart soften. Everything about the woman screamed warmth and love, she has no other to soften too. She became compassionate about how her mother helped a lot of people, she vowed to do it someday.

No matter where you are in the World, If you have decided to do something deep from your heart, you can do it. It is the thought that matters, not where you are or where the person is.

"Death is everywhere and will catch up to you whenever you are. Even if I don't talk about it, there is no way I can escape it and you know it well. I just know that my time is over. All is left for you is to be a better person!" She gave her a stern look when Suhayr grumbled like she is not hearing her.

"It's like you didn't even hear a thing I was saying all this while. I just confessed my undying love for you but you still are talking about death. How rude and ruthless of you!" She rolled her eyes heavenward trying to take off the heaviness that settled in her chest.

"I heard about your undying love for me, thank God you finally noticed and understand your feelings. I always knew that you love me, you don't have to say it." Varshia, her foster mother smiled gently which only made Suhayr roll her eyes again at.

The woman knows her too much for her liking.

"Since you want to die, keep praying to Allah cause I'm going to leave you alone. I don't want to see you dying so let me start packing." She stood up seriously ready to pack up and leave the woman talking about death.

She shouldn't do that in front of Suhayr, she can't take it all in. She just started getting comfortable with the woman but she suddenly feels like leaving the world is the best, how is she to react to such thing? There are things she wants but another person's death always shook her to the core. She is dead afraid of death before, she hates the mere sound of the name right from young age but learnt to live with it like a piece of clothing you can't remove.

She's been hearing about deaths since she was two, how is she not expected to hate it? Everyone she sees has something related to death, why should she like that?

"You are not leaving me to die here alone. I need you with me, you know that. Sit your butt right here and tell me your dreams." Suhayr found herself settling down on the queen sized bed next to her mother who took her hands and wrap it around Suhayr's long hair giving her a gentle massage that always get her to sleep.

"I want to become rich someday, obviously after taking over the company so it can have a touch of my magic. Then I will like to tour around the world for a bit before settling my whole attention to work again. All in all, I want to become so successful that you won't have to think about working and then we can go around the world together..." She was cut shut by her mother's incredulous stare which annoyed her and brought her out from her happy land.

"Why I'm I not hearing about marriage and kids in that?" She raised her brow, even with the sick glow, she is beautiful.

People tend to think she is really her real mother because of how alike they look sometimes. Varisha is beautiful and that is not debatable so it's not hard to guess where she got her beauty from. Some that know about the fact that she is not her mother will say that staying together with so much love makes them look almost alike. She likes hearing that, it makes everything less complicated and they don't have to explain to the ones that don't know.

Varisha is a woman who strongly believes in independence and try so hard to teach her adopted daughter about it too. Depending on anyone makes life miserable than anyone could think of. In the end, they will throw you out without a look back around as if you were a burden to their souls. She's learnt that the hard way so she wouldn't want her daughter to grow up being dependent on anyone.

Not even the husband she is ever going to marry in future.

Life is always unpredictable, it takes the wrong turn when you least expect it to. You need to be on your toes all the damn time while tightening your belt awaiting for the worst, it must come. She knows how it feels when you lack something and life decided to make it hard on you, she's been there and would not wish for her enemy to go through what she has been through. It is not easy living like that.

Suhayr has been introduced to only Varshia's family who is her aunt and she died just few years after Suhayr was adopted. She has no family, they are all dead or spread around the earth to get something to eat. She grew up in penury, none of the family members are better off so they got her married to a rich man. She thought everything was perfect but then it turned out to be her worst nightmare which she never want to relive. The one she thought won't leave her for anything did, so who wouldn't?

He died!

She had to leave the place with some cash he's helped her with which she use to buy a house and open her small company to take away her time. Deciding to adopt a girl for more time, she adopted the three year old from an orphanage since she took a liking at her from the first sight.

When she get to the orphanage she was directed to, she saw Suhayr silently watching everyone going around with her day while she is the youngest who no one wants to play with but she wasn't sulking. Instead she looks cool as a cucumber while studying and biting on her thumb when she gets too bored. She wasn't a fussy baby and went with her after the papers got signed. The girl was bouncy too but changed after sometime when the cruel world get back to her.

"Oh please, forget about that marriage of a thing. Maybe after I turn thirty, I will think about it." Suhayr brought her out from her reverie with her smartass reply that is always on the tip of her tongue when asked that.

"This is not a child's play, Suhayr. You won't marry at the age of thirty or I kill you with my bare hands." And everything is memory.

"I think your family are here, let me get them." Suhayr jumped hearing Mu'adh's voice as he made his way to get the door that has been knocked. She didn't even hear that and has forgotten that Mu'adh is there with her.

Urshia, Tasneem and Thuraiya stood outside the door watching incredulously at the two hunks in the apartment. They knew she was saying the truth but didn't know they were this handsome in reality. Even Urshia who is supposed to be immune to men isn't, she can't just be. They are drop dead handsome, anyone from miles away could see that, it is no doubt they have so many girls lining at their feet.

The power is oozing off of them like flowing water from the waterfall down the area only few have the luck of seeing. From their stance to the way they calculate them right from head to toe, it screams that they should not be messed with not to forget, they are no ordinary people. The price of their clothes alone will be enough to pay their year's rent so they don't even want to think about how much they bought that, some things are better left unsaid.

Maybe that is why Suhayr also couldn't resist seeing the rich, handsome, expensive hulk. That is not a combination to be found easily in their country so as soon as she got the chance, she went to the extent of blackmailing him into settling with her. The guy doesn't look like those nice men but he clearly looks aristocratic, majestic and regal. They could feel his arrogance, narcissism confining him in it's border. A tight leach of no nonsense is the aura he threw around.

From where he sat on the couch, the mastery he leaked could be felt from where they stood making them feel a little bit lowly with the fact. They are not ones to bow down so they won't do that but they have this strong urge to do it either way.

"We are all here now. Can you girls help me finish packing?" Suhayr requested with a small smile which Sa'eed found strange on her. He hasn't seen her smile in the whole almost twenty four hours they spend together

"You haven't introduced us, Susu. Is that how you were brought up?" Urshia asked with a kind smile that screams you know what to do, don't make me embarrass you right now.

Suhayr hates that voice that her mother's best friend and mother only possessed, it makes her feel obligated to do what she doesn't want to. Just like how she doesn't feel like introducing Sa'eed to them all at that moment. If it was up to her, she would just take them to her room so they can gossip some more about the two hulks. So she can insult the life out of her 'husband' for the fun of it.

"Oh, my bad! This one here is my husband, Sa'eed with his friend, Mu'adh." She smiled at the girls, a fake one dripping with an adulterated sarcasm along with the fraudulence she never tried shrouding.

But the way she said their names have the men all rooting to their position. It's obvious she is a Chadian and knows how to speak her mother language a lot but the way she played with the Arabic letters in their names such as the ain, they can only stare.

"Wow, that's nice." Thuraiya commented when awkward silence befell them in the room. Even Mu'adh couldn't move a muscle and only stared at the like some aliens.

"And this is my aunt, Urshia and her children, Tasneem and Thuraiya." She pointed at each one of them as she said their names then backtracked to move back but stopped when she heard Tasneem's annoyed voice.

"And who am I to you?" It was through gritted teeth since she has warned her times without number to always introduce her as her best friend but the girl never listens.

"Oh, she is my greatest friend who is crucially valuable in my life." Suhayr batted her lashes mockingly then stared at them to come help her finish the remains of her packing.

She is a fast packer so it's only little left.

"Let's go, I want to pick some things from your room." Thuraiya grinned thinking about the decorations she wanted to steal from Suhayr for a long time but she never let her, this is her time.

"I'm staying here with my son in-law and his friend, you go ahead and finish packing. It won't look good knowing I don't know a thing about him since you weren't ready to share." Urshia commented making her way to sit on one of the couches Sa'eed isn't occupying.

They have abandoned their luggage by the door totally forgetting about how corrupt the place is but then again, it is early in the morning not late at night. Their clothes might be there after they finish everything, the apartment should be safe in the morning.

"Oh well, suit yourself. I'm taking both the girls with me and try not to say anything you shouldn't." Suhayr concurred before trudging into the room with the girls following right behind her.

It's going to be a long day, she could tell.
