Chapter 14 : Looking for a Lost Soul

Everyone knows about the school. Gossip spreads faster there than syphilis did on the new continent in the age of the constitadors. So when Satan and Lisa came out of the girls' bathroom together, in front of the whole class, it was over.

She was a girl on fire.

And the other as Don Juan, of course.

But since Lisa was still reeling from her abduction by Lucifer and her confrontation with a multi-ton dragon, it wasn't really her problem at the time. In fact, she didn't hear anything from the rest of the field trip. Glued to Satan, she saw the demon's black-veined forearm in her chest, the giant reptile's mouth opening wide to spit flames... And Cerberus' desperate race to escape.

But above all, she saw again the faces of those children, those women and those men frightened by the arrival of the dragon. The one she had awakened to get out of it.

A strong sense of guilt had accompanied her ever since.

-Satan, I made a mistake, she said when she returned home that evening.

Having already resumed his appearance of demon, her husband let himself fall into the sofa with a sigh of voluptuousness. Exhausted by the debauchery of physical and magical power that he had shown, he still found a way to smile at her.

-Mmmh, does that mean you have to be punished?

At his tone, she found a way to blush. Obviously, there was no one else in the house but them. She put the demonic Chihuahua down on the brand new parquet floor of the living room. He went to have a good drink, before collapsing on his back, all four paws in the air. Soon, a peaceful snoring sound reached them.

-It's up to you, she gurgled. I'm the one who woke up the dragon.

Unable to look at him, she stared at Cerberus, whose small chest was rising and falling in a regular rhythm.

-I have put the entire population of the city in danger, Satan. Your subjects. I am so sorry...

Unable to continue, she could no longer think. Only her wave of panic at the prospect of her husband's reaction was perceptible to her.

-And you did the right thing, he said, catching her completely off guard.

Flabbergasted, she considered the demon lying on the couch, his hands crossed behind his head stretching his flat stomach full of abs.

-Sorry?

-You forget that the said people are ten times more powerful than you, even the weakest. They are not humans, my little woman, but demons, zombies, skeletons and other magical creatures. They could very well have climbed the magic barrier by themselves until I arrived to repel the dragon.

-But... The fact remains that I put them in danger...

-Lisa, why do you think the dragons are all waking up right now?

Interested, she frowned.

-Because you have less... power... Because of me?

-Not at all. It's Lucifer who wakes them all up to crack my nuts. You know what I mean? You just took the wind out of his sails. With or without you, the dragon Termidor would have been awakened.

Was he saying this to reassure her? She couldn't figure it out...

-But if you insist, he breathed, suddenly behind his back, I want to punish you.

Her large hands grasped her breasts, strapped into a thick bra. Oops...

-But you said...

-After all, you forced me to show my strength to subdue the dragon, right? Your punishment... My reward for saving my little wife and an entire town.

He was taking advantage of the situation, the devil!

-You are incorrigible!

-Absolutely.

Swinging her in his arms, he overturned her on the sofa before going to attack her lips. By all the saints! He was such a good kisser that she lost her mind almost immediately! Or was it because she had anticipated this? Because she felt like it? But it was so good... His hands slipped under her shirt... Which he suddenly pulled off, but without any sexual desire.

-This bastard dared to touch your breasts! he exclaimed.

Who's that? Ah yes... Lucifer. They hadn't had time to talk about it, actually. Confused, Lisa wondered how he could have guessed. Then she also noticed the red mark at the level of her breastbone, between the cups of her bra.

-Uh...

-Did he hurt you?

His face expressed such a murderous urge that, in that moment, she thought he could be scary when he wanted to be.

-Well... she stammered. It was not very pleasant, but... By the way! Do you know where my soul went?

A silence. Then a smile much too innocent not to be guilty.

-Why, you have a problem with your soul, my little woman?

-Satan, she growled, as he had earlier. What the hell did you do? When did you steal it from me?

-I didn't do anything.

-Are you ready to swear on the sacred bonds of our marriage?

He opened his mouth, closed it again. Then he grimaced.

-Ah! I knew it! You're the one in charge!

-Damn, you got me.

Sitting down on the couch, Lisa folded the pieces of her shirt over her chest, much to her husband's dismay. With his hands between his knees, he looked grounded as a child. Nothing like the king of demons facing a dragon anymore.

-Satan Daemon, give me back my soul! And when did you take it from me!?

-Last night, he mumbled. While you were sleeping.

The cap on the back of his head, he really deserved it!

-Ouch!

-You grope me to orgasm and you take advantage of it to hunt my soul!? Bad manners!

-Lucifer was going to try to take it away from you, so I just put it somewhere else for safekeeping, he countered, fixing his red eyes on hers. But you still have a link to it, so you haven't lost it completely.

-Give it back to me!

-Not until the matter with my brother is settled!

They challenged each other with their eyes.

-And you dare to lecture me about having sex for a good reason, she grumbled. You did it to steal something from me!

-For your own good!

-You could have asked me before! And to think I was beginning to think you were a good person! You're just a miserable asshole!

-Excuse me!?

-You heard me right!

-I am the King of the Demons!

-And for the moment, I'm your wife!

-What do you mean, for the moment!?

Standing up, brandishing her index finger under her nose, Lisa delivered the coup de grace:

-Because in one year we will separate! That' s what you said, right!

He was red with anger. Well... Anyway, he was already red, but he was red with anger.

-I'd rather die! You are my wife and you will remain so!

-Don't act like a demon from the human bible! You married me only to thwart your brother's plans! You don't love me, Satan Daemon, so in one year it's over! And in the meantime, you can stick it behind your ear! Is that clear!?

She didn't think he could get any redder. Yet, he was so angry that his face took on a brighter hue, flames appeared around his horns.

-By all the zombies of the Underworld! he roared. You're the biggest pain in the ass woman I know!

-Oh yeah!? Well, go and get yourself a more docile one, if that's the way it is! Get out of my house!

Not being told twice, he disappeared on the spot, just before a cushion hit him. As soon as he was gone, Lisa remained motionless, staring at the place where he had been a moment earlier. Dejected, she let herself fall on the sofa.

How did they get there?

She was in for a long night of sad reflection. She wasn't entirely wrong, but it wasn't going to be for the same reasons. For Satan reappeared the next second. By the time he found her in the room, he rushed to her, just as a blast destroyed her grandparents' house.
