The Honeymoon Part 1

Tina awoke in the queen-size bed, Newt snuggled up close by her side, sleeping peacefully, a ghost of a smile on his lips. Tina looked at the clock. 9:00 am. Not too bad, she thought. She pressed a kiss on Newt's forehead before climbing out of bed to get dressed and make breakfast for both of them. She climbed down into Newt's case to find her clothes. She groaned. The clothes that were there were much to stylish for her taste. I'm going to kill Alice, she thought. She picked out a tank top and a pair of shorts before slipping back into her wedding flats and trudging upstairs.

She got to work brewing tea for Newt and preparing herself a cup of coffee. She went ahead and cooked a few eggs for herself and maybe for Newt if he liked eggs. Newt walked into the kitchen, yawning, his hair a complete mess. "You look handsome," she remarked. Newt laughed, wrapping his arm around her waist and kissing her cheek. "You look beautiful. What inspired you to wear this?" He gestured to the tank top and shorts. "They were the only comfortable things that Alice packed," Tina said. Newt laughed again. "What do you want to do today?" "Nothing. I want to spend the day here with you," Tina replied. "That's what we'll do," Newt said before picking up his cup of tea and a few eggs.

After breakfast, Newt went to go shower and change into his clothes. He came out wearing a white shirt that was rolled up to his elbows, tan pants, and a pair of calf- high boots. They went out to a lake nearby the house, and they both stood there, skipping rocks for about three hours. Tina could never make hers skip more than once, but Newt set the record with four skips in a row. For lunch, Newt made sandwiches and brought out some leftover cake. They sat on a spare blanket outside, playing wizards chess as they ate, Newt winning every time. After lunch, they headed into the case, where they each cared for the creatures there. Next, they came back up to make dinner. Tina chose to make spaghetti, which wasn't as good as what Queenie would make, but would suffice. They headed back outside to eat with a jug of butter beer. Tina challenged him to another game of wizards chess, which he of course won. Tina finally gave up on wizard's chess. Tina was lying her head on Newt's lap, watching the sun set as Newt played with her hair gently. "I wish this moment could last forever," Newt said softly. "Me too," Tina replied.

The night ended with Tina pretending to be too tired to stand so that Newt would pick her up and carry her to bed, where he lay her down before climbing in himself. She rested her head on his chest, laying one hand over his heart. Newt put one arm around her shoulder and dozed off. I don't think I have ever been so content, she thought with a smile. I could get used to this.
