It Will Be Okay

Tina awoke to find the spot in her bed where Newt was usually sleeping, was empty. She saw the case lying on the floor, and understood. Newt could never sleep when something was bothering him, so he would leave Tina to sleep and head down into his case to work. Tina attempted to get up, but fell back, moaning with frustration. He stomach had grown considerably in size thanks to the baby, which made it hard to get up in the morning without Newt's assistance. She rubbed the large bump, a small smile forming on her lips. Any day now, she thought happily, before resuming to try and get up.

She finally managed to get up, and had a equally hard struggle trying to get inside the case, but finally did. She walked through the shed and out into the moonlight of the case. She saw Newt feeding the mooncalves, biting his lower lip. "Newt?" she called out, and Newt's head jerked in her direction. He instantly left the mooncalves and ran over to her, kissing her before asking, "Is everything alright, Tina?" "Funny. I was going to ask you the exact same thing," Tina remarked, gesturing for him to follow her to the shed. He nodded, slowly following her.

Once inside the shed, Tina turned to him. "What's wrong? And don't say nothing, because that's a lie, and it hurts when you lie just because you don't want to burden me with your problems." Newt took a deep breath and looked at Tina. "I'm frightened about the baby. What if I'm not a good enough father? What if I bugger up? What if the child hates me? What if-" "Slow down, Newt. Don't put the carriage in front of the horse!" Tina exclaimed. She reached out to touch his cheek.

"First of all, you will be a wonderful father. I've known this since we married. The way you care for your creatures leaves no doubt in my mind about that. Second, this child will not hate you. He or she will have your wonderful heart, I'm sure of it. And third, I'm struggling with those exact same insecurities."

"Don't be silly, Tina. You will be the most wonderful mum in the world."

"You will be the most wonderful dad in the world."

Newt smiled at her, and Tina laughed. Newt began to lean in for a kiss, when suddenly, Tina doubled over, falling to the ground, panting, clutching her stomach. "Tina?!" Newt knelt down beside her. Sweat began to form on her forehead, but Newt quickly wiped it away and hoisted her up gently. "Tina?!" Newt sounded panicked. "Tell me what's wrong, love." "The baby!" she gasped. "It's coming!"
